yes, I find I eat slower with the smaller spoons, I even found smaller forks. All my dishes are on the tiny side. I use finger bowls for most meals and have several tiny plates too. I have not uses a "normal dinner plate" since the surgery
I started out with baby spoons. I found some colorful disposable spoons that I would just wash. They didn't seem as babyish. Not taking big bites takes a while to get used to and the small silverware helps.
I would also eat in the 1/2 cup size plastic ware to see that my portions were in check.
