  1. NUT thanks I should be on Metformin to help me lose pre-surgery weight. Wth?

      metformin job is to help stop the liver from producing blood sugars. but only your doctor should put you on anything. and because insulin is much more easily managed especially as you lose wt. I would think if you are diabetic that it would be the choice. you can get a free glucose monitor. start checking your blood. and recording it. will help doctor. plus you need fasting blood work done.

      @terrydumont46 I have had several fasting blood tests showing my blood glucose being above 100 but below 105, which qualifies as pre-diabetic. Doing some research, I found that Metformin has become a common protocol to treat pre-diabetics in hopes it will prevent transition to full diabetic. Mine NUT merely made the suggestion that I speak to my PCP about it, which I will do at my appt later today. At this point I have to bring my calories down to around 500 in order to start losing any w...

      ...weight. So, I'm keeping my calories down to around 500 for this week and I'm tracking using MFP and I will reassess next week when I see might my NUT, but I will talk to my PCP at my pre-op appt later today. Thanks for all the input.
