When does the back ache stop?
cutlass6521 replied to cutlass6521's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
breakfast: 1 egg omlett with mushrooms, green peppers, and a slice of 1gram fat bacon/ham Lunch: leftovers from the night before (I cook extra so I have lunch the next day). consisting of 3 oz of fish, or 2oz of chicken plus 1/4cup of veggies Dinner:2 oz of chicken or 4oz of fish. 1/4c of veggies and 1/4c of starchy veggie Snack: 1/4c of yogurt with fresh berries 1/4c Today: I upped my intake as per my dieticians request to get to 1000 calories( I don't think I got there yet). 2 eggs breakfast; 2 oz chicken & 1/4 cup hummus and 3 small crackers for lunch. 4 oz of pork tenderloin & veggies for dinner. This is the most I have eaten since Jan 8 (pre op liquid diet) Hmm, could it be gas build up from my intestines and stomach-working it's way upward. Gas-X brings a small amount of relief -
When does the back ache stop?

Thanks Cheryl My clinic is telling me I need to eat a min of 1000 calories /day. I upped my lunch calories today(because I was only eating around 600), then the pain came. -
Okay, I know it sounds like a really dumb question. Is there anyone out there that is 3 weeks post op and still not hungry? I am living on 500 cal /day. Taking in 40+ grams of Protein. Very little carbs and fat. I am just not starving-or at least I don't think I am. I believe that I am ready to eat when my stomach growls loudly. A small amount of food seems to fill me up. I was told by the clinic that I go to that I would be getting hungry real soon-that was 2 weeks ago. Most patients are ready for a fill by the 4th week. I can barely get all the food in now. I am even exercising and drinking lots of Water. Worried something is wrong. Did I get into soft foods/solid stage too soon?

to cut the sodium, use no salt added canned tomatoes and use fresh herbs & peppers to make your own authentic fresh Italian tomatoes. I have also made the frozen fish in a greek style. Put one tablespoon of Caesar salad dressing-low fat on top of the fish. chop 1/2 cup of mushrooms. Arrange around the fish. Season mushrooms with herbs, garlic and squeeze fresh lemon on top of mushrooms and bake. The fish is creamy without all the calories and the mushrooms have a zesty lemon taste. Bake the same as your recipe (when dressing starts to brown, it is done)

Hi Nancy: First off you have made a wonderful decision to have the band. The clinic you have chosen is very dedicated to their patients. The support staff are extremely qualified and can answer any question that you may have. You will find out more after the surgery is complete. They have web seminars about the band, nutrition, supplements etc. they even have a support web meeting once a month ( I haven't attended that one yet). They give you the tools to succeed. Remember the Lap Band is a one step at a time program. 1 to 2 lbs a week weight loss-slow an steady wins the race to keep it off.

I don't know about the rest of you post op bandsters, but I am sure my brain and my stomach are talking behind my back!! My once lone scrambled egg was satisfying me for 5 to 6 hours. Now that egg wants company around the 3 hours mark after eating it. Hmmm, my clinic told me that once the swelling goes down I will start to get hungry. Is it brain hungry or stomach hungry? I only try to eat something once my stomach starts to complain by growling at me. Does anyone else get an all of a sudden instant hunger? Maybe I will be ready for a fill soon. Good luck everyone.

Yes!! I have this too. There is no sitting pattern or type of exercise that brings it on. Just all of a sudden my mid back will start to ache. I didn't have this pre-band, unless I was working stuck in one position for an hour or more. I wonder if it is related to gas build up. Let me know what you find out.

Tonight I start the mushy food section of this diet. I plan on taking 1 meatball, a dollop of spaghetti sauce and puree it. Heat it back up and sprinkle a small amount of parm cheese on top. Hope this goes down ok.

Any January Surgery Bandsters?
cutlass6521 replied to msirish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Jan 22. Mine went pretty much the same as Msirish. One second I was chatting to the OR nurses and then the anesthetist came in and put in the IV. I looked over at him and he gave me my cocktail for the afternoon, then I was waking up in recovery. This is the first time ever in my life that I don't remember a single thing what happened. My shoulder ached, and my stomach felt like I swallowed a rock or two. Other than that, it was like be woke up from a very peace full slumber, but kind of startled. The nurse wanted to keep me awake right now and to get my bearing of where I was. I flew home from the city where the surgery was performed on Friday(that was a very long 4 hour flight), and even this morning I was still asking myself.. what just happened? Tonight I am starting to feel good. Shoulder pain all gone in 36 hours, incision pain subsided. Now my stomach is growling. I don't feel hungry, but I ate the minimum from the diet plan. Now I am excited to find out what will happen next. Good luck to everyone. -
Hello Everyone: I was banded on Jan 22 and now I am seeing bruising come to the skin surface. I bruise very easily at the best of times. Just wondering if anyone else had this too.

Has anyone ever NOT lost weight?
cutlass6521 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just wondering if anyone has not lost weight with the lapband? This forum is a great inspiration with reading the stories of everyone inching their way down to their goal weight. I cannot find if anyone has ever failed with the surgery. I guess I am a little nervous as I am getting banded on Jan 22. -
Starting Liquid diet soon, please help
cutlass6521 replied to Its-time's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started an early pre-op diet one week ahead, just to get used to the idea. Drank Atkins Protein Meal Replacements shakes for breakfast and lunch, then a light dinner. This was a big help. When you get hungry--drink more Water. You won't have time to eat, you will be busy running to the bathroom. Seriously, as the fat starts to break down, it is disposed of through the organs and then into the bladder and the water helps flush it out. My surgeon then put me on their recommended Protein drinks for the last 2 weeks(2 more days of pre-op for me). Good luck to you. -
I have only talked to Dr Cobourn. I was very surprised that the clinic wasn't trying to just sell me on the lapband idea by making promises the band would never be able to keep. They let me know that Dr Cobourn was going to call me and he would be able to answer all of my questions. The doctor was able to answer all of my questions and provide me with even more information on the lapband. I don't believe many of the other clinics offer to have the surgeon call you direct. It left me with the impression that they are putting my health and well being first. So far the staff at SWLC have been great at getting me connected with the program. I get banded on Jan 22 and cannot wait to get this done. Only 3 more sleeps to go.

Oh god! slipped off the pre - op wagon!
cutlass6521 replied to rosieposie88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went one step further. I pulled a steak out of the freezer (filet mignon, my favorite) and cooked it for my husband. then I tortured him and gave him a side of steamed plain peas and a slice of tomato. After the meal was over I did consider eating the plate that the steak was on. LOL -

I am on day 9 of this Protein shake and vegetable diet. I started to make a veggie medley in larger batches so I didn't have to cook this every single day(remember to calculate how many portions there are). Somehow, knowing that I just have to heat it up is keeping me on track. My body is wondering what I have done to it. I hope my liver is a happy camper, because my stomach is screaming where's the beef? Only 6 more sleeps until banding day. -
Has anyone ever NOT lost weight?
cutlass6521 replied to cutlass6521's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all very much for your support. Ladybandito, you hit the nail on the head. I am also terrified that I will be the only person on the planet not to lose weight, and the whole world will know it and laugh at me. Currently, only my husband and one friend knows about this surgery. The friend that knows about it-had the band 5 years ago. He told me it was the best money he has ever spent and does not regret it for a minute. I just can`t wait until the surgery date to arrive. I keep telling myself I have made a great decision(and I know I have). Now, back to the Protein shake diet for a week and a half. -

Band date is set for Jan 22, 2014 Currently on day 3 of this 14 day protein shake and veggie nightmare diet. I didn't think I would be able to survive on this pre-op diet, so I started 1 week early with Atkins shakes and a light meal at dinner. I have been reading all the positive posts on this site and I cannot wait until my surgery date. Looking forward to a better healthier life. Good luck to everyone
