  1. Btw-- anyone who is curious about sizes and/or would like some motivation. I started wearing a XXL in tops and dresses. I could wear XL in yoga/ stretch type pants. I never worn jeans because I couldn't find ones that I liked but I was about a 16. I just went and bought some clothes!!! I'm so excited!! I'm wearing mainly M and a couple L tops because the cuts made them not long enough. I bought some medium dresses and sleepwear also!!! I bought 2 pairs of jean capris. 1 pair is a size 9 and the other is a 9/10. I also had some clothes from a few years ago that I saved but couldn't fit into before surgery. My size 11 jean capris that I use to squeeze into and gave me crazy muffin top are too big!!! I have to keep hiking them up because they fall down!! For the women, I was wearing a 40D bra. I'm now wearing a 38C. I have to put the hooks on the smallest ones however. I probably could go down to a 36 but don't want to spend money on bras yet.
  2. Thanks!! I just saw my doctor last week. He was very happy with where I was at!! It got a little weird because he started telling me that he knew I was going to look hot after this surgery because my face is really pretty.... He goes on to say to make sure I stay faithful to my husband because he's heard and seen a lot of people cheat on their significant others after surgery because they start getting all of this attention from guys! I'm like uhhhh... I've been married 9 years and we've been together 13 years and have 4 kids. Plus he's hot so I'm not going anywhere!!! Lol it was an odd convo!! Anyways... He said he expects to see me below 150 at my next visit in August. He said it should be an easy goal to reach as long as I keep doing what I'm doing. I'm excited!!! Can't wait!! I expect to be under that because I'm currently 168!!! I only need 18 pounds in 3 months... I'm hoping to be at my goal weight which is 140 by August. That will be 6 months post op which is when my doctor and I said I should reach my goal! Can't wait!!! It's been hard at times but best decision I ever made!!!
  3. Thanks! GL to you! Follow what your doctor says and it we happen! I'm so glad I can inspire you! It's why I posted those horrible before photos! My husband never even saw those pics! (Obviously he sees me everyday but I just don't feel comfortable showing them to him.) I was hoping that someone might be inspired or have hope that they can change too by seeing results. Stay positive and I'm sure you will be inspiring others soon enough.
  4. lol thanks! Glad I give you hope and excite you! You will be helping others soon enough! GL to you!!
  5. Honestly... No. I don't workout. I am active during the day... Always moving, walking, up and down stairs but don't actually work out. Obviously working out will speed up the process and tone everything but I'm still loosing at a good rate so haven't started yet. I'm averaging 5lbs a week now. In the beginning I dropped 30lbs super fast and was soooooo tired. I'm kind of scared to loose weight quicker (odd I know!) just because I had no energy then and don't want to feel like that again. My plan is when I hit a stall to add the work out. That should then hopefully kick the weight loss back in.
  6. I turned 30 on 5/4. This has been best b-day ever!!! I'm now 170. 60lbs GONE!!! As you can see from pics my arms don't have a lot of excess skin. Stomach skin is getting bad.... Plan to take care of that once I get to maintenance stage. My legs are good because they were always toned due to my high foot arches. (Other areas going south but nothing a little support doesn't fix
  7. I was technically 227 at the hospital scale. I think my home scale is off by a couple pounds but I'm just going with that. I'm excited for you!!! Good luck on your journey!! Honestly.... I haven't exercised once!! I don't want to promote that... I know I need to and should be exercising but I'm always so busy with my 4 kids and everything else that by time I would get to exercising I'm just so tired!!! I figured that once I hit a real stall I will kick the exercising into gear. I've lost another 10 lbs so now I'm @ 170- 60lbs gone! It's amazing!! I do not eat a lot at all. I'm on full diet and should be at 1 cup food but I stick to between 1/2 cup- 3/4 cup a meal because I get full. I have "cheated" but after I get sick I don't eat that again!! I haven't gotten sick much though. I was worried the bypass didn't work because I wasn't getting sick!!! Obviously it has though. Lol GL to you!!
  8. Thanks!! I wish you luck!! Just hit 170 today!! So excited! 60lbs!
  9. Idk what's going on this week but I'm down another 10lbs! I feel like the incredible shrinking woman. Lol I'm so glad I can inspired ppl. Everyone who is pre op or just post op it is totally worth it!! Hang in there and GL to you!!
  10. Hang in there!! It gets better! GL to you!
  11. Thank-you! I'm so happy I can help motivate others. ???? I'm feeling okay as far as eating goes... Everything is all healed at this point from the outside. I feel really tired on some days but that has been getting better as the weight loss slowed a bit. I haven't had much trouble with food or eating. I was worried that the surgery didn't go right for awhile there because I experienced no dumping syndrome! I purposely ate part of a cupcake with super rich icing just to make myself dump because I was worried! (It worked ????) I had one other experience where I think I ate too fast or too much because as soon as I put the last bite in my mouth I had to run to the bathroom because it came right back up! The pain was tolerable... My surgeon was wonderful but the general nursing staff that "cared" for me after surgery was horrible! If they would have listened to me and handled the pain medications properly I would have been great! Long story about the nurses but an example is they put my fentanyl patch on backwards and then wondered why I was in pain. I got yelled at for trying to walk like 6-7 hours after surgery when I was told I needed to walk at like 4 hours. This nurse said I wasn't allowed to get out of bed and she tucked me in and hooked me up to a bunch of stuff so I couldn't walk! There's more but it's too much to type now. Anyways, you will be fine. I'm sure the hospital you will go to will be more competent! I'm so sorry to hear how you are feeling. Hang in there! This surgery will definitely change your life. I'm sure the surgery will help with a lot of your health issues. I can't honesty believe how different I feel after 2 months! It's amazing how I can now go up and down the stairs and not feel tired.... You keep us updated about your surgery. Good luck to you.
  12. Thanks everyone. ???? It feels wonderful to finally be the person motivating others!
  13. Thank-you!! Good luck to you! It will be a roller coaster ride but hang on because you will be so happy you did it! You will be sharing your post-op pics soon enough.
  14. Thank-you so much! I'm so happy I was able to get this surgery! I already feel better!! My sleep apnea is pretty much gone! I'm sleeping again! I can go up and down stairs and go for long walks without getting tired! I feel like my life is moving in the right direction! I'm also lucky that my doctor was able to get me in when he did because the insurance I had was ending on 2/28 and I had to get different insurance. They covered my surgery 100%. My new insurance does not cover any bariatric surgery or any type of weight loss program.
  15. Thanks!! I didn't lose any weight before surgery. I was considered their "smaller patient" so I didn't have to do the liquid diet or anything like that. I actually put on 15lbs from time I started process of getting surgery approval. No one knew why I kept gaining weight because I didn't eat that much! I'm really happy I had this surgery because I feel so much better! I went from barely fitting into XXL to a L!
  16. I'm 2 months and 2 days and I have lost 50 lbs. the weight in the beginning went really quickly.... Within a week I had lost 20lbs... Then it just slowed. I wouldn't loose for a few days and then I'd drop 4lbs. Then I'd be at that weight for a week and then drop another 3-4lbs. It's been crazy but it's still coming off. It may seem like it's not coming off right but it is. Hang in there and you will see. Just keep following the diet.
  17. Hi Everyone, I've been reading posts here for a little while but haven't said anything yet. I guess as I've gone through this journey it almost didn't feel real and I was afraid to jinx it. I'm scheduled for my bypass tomorrow morning. I have to be at the hospital at 6:15am. I'm nervous and excited to have it. I'm 29 years old. I'm married and have 4 kids. I was never super skinny but looking back, realized I was not really heavy either like I thought I was. I spent 3 years in the Army. I was in good shape then.... I'm 5'4" and weighed around 130-135. After getting out and having my son 2 years later the weight slowly crept on. At first it wasn't bad.... 150-160.... Okay I had kids it's fine. Next thing I know I have 4 kids and I'm almost 200 pounds. When I went over 200 pounds (I'm 229 tonight) I cried so much and said I will figure out how to fix this. I have struggled with diets and exercise over the years. My problem has always been that I can't figure out the right combination for me to loose weight. I reduce calories and exercise and would still gain weight! I feel like I have been fighting myself for years. My husband is in great shape. A lot of it is his high metabolism and the other part is he works out a lot. So I have tried many different times to loose the "regular" way and it never worked. I was feeling worse and worse especially since my husband is in such good shape and I'm not. He never has said otherwise but I felt like I shouldn't be with him. He always tells me he loves me how I am but is supportive of my surgery and wants me to be healthy. I never thought I would qualify for gastric surgery or that my insurance would pay for it. I contacted the doctors that my insurance usually works with and went into my first appointment in November of last year. After that it was a whirlwind of tests and appointments. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I haven't had to get a CPAP machine only because my surgery was so soon after my pulmonary tests that the doctor said we could wait so I didn't have to delay my surgery. The doctors have all been wonderful! Everyone involved has been wonderful! The support group was good. My only issue was with the psych doctors office because there was confusion over why I was there and they wanted me to go to multiple appointments. That was resolved though. Even though I'm hours away from surgery I still feel like someone is going to call me and say just kidding! You can't get surgery! Insurance denied! I know it's not going to happen because I wouldn't have gotten this far.... But still. I can't sleep. I'm so excited! I'm ready to take this journey. I hope to be sharing success stories soon. I'm sure I will also be posting more and asking questions when I'm in the hospital. Thanks for reading! -H
