  1. Thanks!!! So glad I can inspire others.
  2. Thank you!! I'm only at 10 months so don't have any long lasting tips yet. I've just been following what my doctor told me regarding what to eat and portion sizes. As far as working out I do strength training exercises and work on building muscle. I love my kettle bell! If someone is not familiar with it and not trained with it however they can really hurt themselves. It's great though when you learn how to do use it! Full body work out. My doctor encourages any exercise but says working on building muscle is more important than cardio. I suggest just following what your doctor suggests. Good luck to you!
  3. Yay! Good luck on your journey!! Take lots of pics! My doctor told me to do so because he said it will be great motivation. Keep us updated on your journey.
  4. Glad I can inspire you! Good luck on your journey!
  5. Thanks everyone for the kind words!!
  6. It looks like my writing didn't show up so I will write again! Lol Hi Everyone! I haven't been on in awhile so just wanted to post an update! I have been busy living my new life! Gastric bypass has truly given me a new life!! Had surgery on 2/19/13. I'm 5'4". Start weight: 230 lbs. Shirts: XXL Pants 16 (about because I never wore regular pants.) Current weight: 120lbs. Shirts: Xtra Small (juniors). Pants: 1 (juniors and they are a little too big!) I hope I can inspire some people!! Good luck to everyone! God bless!
  7. Hi Everyone! It's been awhile since I posted. Living life happily as the skinny me. I've officially lost now 100lbs since my surgery on Feb 19. It's been less than 6 months. Just want to give some inspiration. Height: 5'4" Start weight: 230 Current weight: 130 (In high school I was 140!) Shirt size: XXL Current: S/M Pant size: 16/18, XL (stretch or yoga pants) Current: 7, S (stretch or yoga pants) Bra size: 40DD Current: 36 C I'm very fortunate to not have a lot of loose skin. My stomach is the worse area but I keep that covered. I've had 4 kids so I don't expect that to be great. My current pics aren't that good because my new house doesn't have a full length mirror and I was standing on my tip toes to try to get a pic. It's crazy to be "skinny" now. I've looked in the mirror several times and still can't believe it's me. My husbands family didn't even realize it was me at a party this past weekend. I have pretty much 0 clothes that fit me because everything is too big , which is not a bad problem to have. I have so much more confidence now and I'm a lot happier now.
  8. Thanks for all of the positive comments everyone!!
  9. It's great to hear from someone who is still happy and maintaining after 4 years! I will definitely check out your site! Thanks
  10. Thanks! It has been really easy for me. I'm very very lucky. I was throwing up for awhile there in the middle even when I was eating right. I'm hoping the maintenance is easy. I'm a little worried now to lose more weight.... I don't want to be too skinny (never thought I'd say that lol) and my doctor said I will keep losing still over the next year (18 months total). It's ok to not have met your goal yet. Keep up with it and you will. Remember everyone is different. It also depends on where you started at and many other factors. Keep up the great work!!
  11. Thanks! Everyone is really different. Some how in the first two weeks I was already down 25 pounds. I then was losing a pound a day. It's odd because then all of a sudden I would lose 5 pounds. It really has been random for me. At 2 months I was down 50lbs. At 3 months 70lbs Then it started slowing and was losing only about 15lbs a month. Just try not to compare yourself to others. Everyone is different and will lose differently. Be happy that you are losing. I'm well below the average weight for post-op and I'm honestly not sure why I have lost so quickly. My doctor wanted me to be at 150 by my appointment in 2 weeks and I'm 20lbs below that. Just keep following what your doctor told you and you will be successful. Good luck on your journey! Take pictures!! I also have an app called Get To Goal which is a bariatric weight lose tracker. It helped me to see my progress and kept me motivated.
  12. Thanks everyone!!! I haven't really done anything special.... I just eat the way I was told to (usually around 3/4 cup). I watch the fat and sugar contents. I'm moderately active honestly.... I don't do anything special. My doctor said I have been losing so fast because I'm young (got at 29) and I wasn't over weight for a long time (only since I had my kids).
  13. Hey everyone! Life has been crazy and I've been so busy. I'm moving Sunday so once that is done I'll have more time to chat! I wanted to do a quick check in because i reached my nutritionist goal for me yesterday!! I can't believe I finally made it here! It has actually happened! My doctor said I would get here before 6 months and he was right! Gastric Bypass: Feb 19 ( 4months and 5 days). Start : 230 lbs, XXL, 40D, pants 14-16 (not sure exactly because always wore elastic). Current: 145 lbs, S-M, 34C, pants 6-8 (depends on brand. I just bought jean shorts that are 8 in juniors!) I'm very fortunate to not have a lot of excess skin... Again my doctor said I probably wouldn't because I'm young. I still get sick some times but it's usually my fault for eating something I shouldn't, so I need to stop that. Lol I feel good otherwise. I'm sleeping great, have energy/ stamina. It's crazy how people treat you different when you are skinny. I appreciate the attention..: I mean, who wouldn't feel good about themselves after 5 college guys go crazy yelling how beautiful you are when you get out of your car at Walmart! Lol At same time though it makes me sad when I think about how society treats people so differently because of their weight. Anyways.... I need some sleep. My oldest daughter has Girl Scout camp in the morning. Good night everyone! HB Good luck to everyone else out there! Stay motivated!!!?
  14. Good luck on your surgery! You will do great! Keep us informed of your progress.
  15. Glad I can inspire! The hard work does pay off!
  16. Thank-you!!! Congrats to you!!! It really does make a huge difference in your life doesn't it?! Keep up the great work!
  17. Thanks so much!! I am a lot happier!! I feel better! I don't get depressed anymore when getting dressed for the day. Clothes shopping is actually fun now!
  18. Hi everyone, It has been a long two months! I've had a lot of up and downs emotionally especially in the first month. I haven't had any real issues other than being extra tired I think because I lost my first 30 lbs in less than 3 weeks. Now that I'm losing a little slower I'm not at tired. I'm 2 months and 2 days post op. As of yesterday I have officially lost 50lbs! Start weight 230lbs. Current weight 180lbs. I have 40lbs to my goal! -HL
