I am almost 4 weeks post op and hit a weight loss wall 2 weeks ago. I know it's just a stall but man it sure is depressing. Everyday I hope and pray the scale starts moving but instead it rocks up and down 1-2 pounds. My energy levels have hit an all time low and I feel sad. Please tell me I didn't go through all this for nothing.

Stall is depressing me :-(
TheWigster replied to TheWigster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your responses have been so uplifting. Thank you all!! I am going to measure myself today. I felt so down yesterday that I left work early. My energy levels are so low I went home and took a nap. I am going to go out today and get some exercise. It is hard for me to eat more than about 600 calories. I am on the puréed stage and while i am doing well it is still difficult eating more than I am currently. Don't know how I will increase my calorie count. When I try to eat more I get horrible frothing. -

Thank you all for your words of encouragement. It's just so frustrating. I told my husband this morning that I needed to measure myself. I usually drink iced tea and not much water, could that have something to so with it?? -
Warning: Yucky Topic! Stool issues?

I had the same gas and diarrhea and figured out that I had developed an aversion to sugar. Anything over 12gm sends me running. At first I was confused because everything I was eating was sugar free then I realized that the 1% milk had 12gm of sugar. I replaced with a milk substitute and no more problems. -

Go with water on the rocks!! -
I find that anything with more than 12gm of sugar sends me running. My Doc called it rapid transit. I have to be very careful.

I way over packed. Didn't use my gowns at all. It was much easier using the hospital gown with all the iv's and heart monitors. Used the hospital socks and only used cosmetics the day I was discharged. They wouldn't let me shower until the. Morning I left the hospital. Took but didn't use Gasx, walking was much better.

Muscle milk 100 (low carb) is pretty good but I am unable to drink it post op. I am pretty picky and I was able to tolerate it preOp just fine.

frustrated and need advice

The protein shakes made me nauseous so I tried the Carnation Instant Breakfast mixed with Mootopia (a high protein low sugar milk sold at Texas HEB stores). It tastes great and worked well for me. -
My EVERYTHING itches!

I had the same thing. I took a Zyrtec and the itching eased up. Must have been anesthesia or in my case coming off the pre-op diet medications. -
Had to break down and buy new jeans!
TheWigster posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
10 days post op. Lost 55 pounds all together so far since November. Had to get some jeans, they were all too big. Went shopping and found I went from a 5x to a 3x. From a size 32 to a 26!!! Today was an awesome day. Haven't worn these sizes in almost 15 years! -

Tomorrow is my surgery
TheWigster replied to KimberlyBranco7's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations!! Mine is tomorrow too!! I am doing my surgery prep. No fun. But one step closer. Still have to pack my hospital bag. My surgery isn't scheduled until 2pm. I sure wish it was earlier in the day. I will be a nervous wreck all morning. Good luck to all!! -
Had my PreOp appointment today!! Lost another 4 pounds. Dr was very happy with my weight loss (40 total lost) and the fact that my A1C is now in normal range. Surgery date Mar 17th. Coming up fast! Starting to get really nervous but also excited. Went and got a body wave put in my hair so that it will be easier to manage after surgery. Tomorrow I am going to the grocery store to pick up items for my first Week of clear liquids. So much to do before next Monday and I am running out of time. Eeek!!! Is this really happening??????

How much weight did you lose during the preop phase?
TheWigster replied to liguy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been preOp since I started theProgram in Nov last year. My program requires I see a dietician every month. Up until the last two weeks I was just following weight watchers. Lost 20 doing that. Then they upped the ante and put me on one meal replacement shake and 1300 calorie diet with dietician appointments every week. Been doing that for the last two weeks and have lost 15. I have my preOp appt with my surgeon next week and have now met his weight loss requirements. Not sure what comes next. Surgery is march 17. -

What Are you packing to take to the hospital? I haven't given it much thought but have seen some threads where I there's have. I live in the Houston Galveston area. Where are you from?
-
I was pretty freaked out about the protein shakes but found the Muscle Milks to be pretty good and easily tolerated. I haven't tried the powdered protein yet. I am drinking one meal replacement shake a day.
-
Good luck to you too! I am nervous but also very excited. Does your preop diet start the 3rd? I have been on a preOp diet since Thanksgiving. My surgeon required I lose 10% of my weight before surgery. I made goal today so I am good to go. I have had to see a dietician everyMonth. Now that I am just weeks away I am seeing the dietician every week. I have dropped almost 40 pounds.
