Hi Jaqui you are so right about the exercise, luckilly I walk everyday for at least 40 minutes (and have done since being banded in 2005) I also have a treadmill at home that i try to go on everyday , walking briskly for about 30-40 minutes. I think without this I would definately regain. This is what is so annoying, on the whole I am pretty good, I think that when I had my band it proved that the only way I can lose weight and keep it off is to eat very very little and of course this is so much harder to do when not banded. Thanks for the reply Gaynor X

Hi thanks so much for the replies, I could really do with the support right now. I have been a bit more positive this week and have been a bit more careful with food choices. The reason why I wouldn't have any more surgery is that when my band was removed I also lost part of my stomach, it was all very traumatic, I was told if I had been left for a few hours longer I would have died. Six weeks after band removal I was rushed back in with a bleeding Ulcer. So I have to manage on my own from now on, I would not put my family through any more ops. Please do keep in touch and I would also love to hear from anybody who has had there band removed at target and managed to keep the weight off long term Take care Gaynor

Hi all havn't posted for a long time. I had my band removed due to slippage. It was all vey traumatic, I lost part of my stomach, nearly died. Anyhow after removal I gained around 14 lbs and have maintained that for over a year give or take a lb. However I am constantly struggling and find I only have to cheat a little to gain weight. Can anybody offer advice, really feeling down today. Thanks Gaynor

Hi My symtoms were similar to the above, but I was in a great deal of pain and could not even swallow my own saliva. I think with luck you are just over filled. Definately get a de-fill if poss with Xray so they can check all is ok. Please dont leave it any longer as it can lead to serious complications. On the other hand it can so easily be sorted out. Let us know how you get on. Take care Gaynor

Oh bless you, I know exactly how you are feeling. i had to have my band removed in March 08 and was told the same, a few more hours and it would have been curtains. I had to have my band removed and part of my stomach as it had died due to slippage. I have probably gained about 14 lbs but I'm still here to tell the tale (I lost about 100 lbs). It will be difficult for you but there really is life after the band. It is possible to manage without it take care if I can help in any way please feel free to pm me. gaynor

Microdermabrasion v Chemical peels
g curtis replied to g curtis's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thanks Julie -
my sister has mild acne scars, she is 53 going through a mid life crisis and considering Microdermabrasion or a skin peel. She has'nt got loads of money to throw around and over here in the UK peels are very expensive although microderm is more affordable. Has anybody had either of these procedures and if so were you pleased with the results. Thanks Gaynor

Thanks Dr for responding. I think fingers crossed it is starting to knit together. So hopefully it will soon be fully healed. Regards Gaynor

Hi Doctor You replied to a thread about a problem with a pea sized are on my nipple that wont heal. I am now nearly 6 weeks post op and it still hasnt healed. My PS has advised me to use a netting dressing (I think it has iodine on it ) with a waterproof dressing on top and to change this twice a week, my nurse at my family doctors has advised me to change the dressing every other day. What advice would you give, it is no better, but no worse. Should I keep it dry or is it ok to shower. ? By the way I saw a programme that featured you on a British TV channel. I found it really interesting. And proudly told my husband you had answered a thread I posted. Any advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks Gaynor

Nipple slow to heal after boob lift
g curtis replied to g curtis's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thankyou so much for replying Dr. It does seem a little better. And yes I was a smoker. I gave up about 4 years ago. Very interesting points you raise. Gaynor -
Hi there I had an arm lift and a boob lift with implants 4 weeks ago. All has healed nicely except a small pea sized area on my right nipple, the nurse at my doctors surgery says she does'nt think there is any infection. has any body else experienced problems healing ? Any advice appreciated. Thanks Gaynor

Hi there sounds to me you are too tight. You cant go on for too long not drinking properly until mid afternoon, you will eventually get de-hydrated. I really think you probably need a de-fill. I have had my band for over 2years and am booking to have a defill because since having a fill 3 days ago am only able to take fluids, however I drink drink and drink, tea, coffee, fruit juice, clear Soups etc You gotta look after yourself otherwise you will make yourself ill. Good luck and take care Gaynor

Can a band tighten after a de-fill ?
g curtis replied to g curtis's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Alexandra Would you beleive I seem to be ok at the moment, fairly tight in the morning and at lunch and then in the evening I do have to be careful because I can eat just about anything. But for the time being All seems to be ok. I'm really sorry to hear that you are still having problems, reflux etc. It sounds as though you are so close to you're sweet spot. Good luck I hope you eventually get to a healthy level of restriction. All the best Gaynor
