Jumped Hoops to be turned away.
wrestlersmom replied to Tweety/Pat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It could be from the hernia.. If you have one too big you are not a candidate for the band.. You can do gastric by pass... -
Pre-surgery process; I'm so discouraged.
wrestlersmom replied to LindaD's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Who is your Dr? Maybe we can help if we know what area you are in.. Rose -
My friend Nicole has her surgery May, 9th... Lets keep in touch.. Email me at wrestlersmom125@bellsouth.net so we can be more private... Thanks Rose

GO with ENOCH..Dont go with Moran....Trust me my girlfriend was using Moron then switched to Enoch and everything has gone fast and great for her..... Dont worry about tomorrows.. Dont worry about slippage.. If you do then you wont have this operation.. Check out how many problems have come from lapband.. The % is very low.. We can all have problems with anything... But God wants us to live for today.. It's how I need to live or I will overrun my brain and always worry about this or that...Handle a problem when it comes .. Hope this advise helped...

Hi all i'm the new guy
wrestlersmom replied to medge1113's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would call back the Dr and tell him or his staff You are hungry and your will power is working but you feel you need a fill .. complain if you have to.. Ask why he changed things?? Why after you paid more than most of us does he want you to wait longer??? After $27,000 I would make sure I got what I paid for.... Good luck.. -
After over a year and a half of planning to get a lapband and then going through hoops for BCBS AL for the past 8 months, I am finally Approved... I can breath good now...

Hi All, My name is Rose and I live in NC.. I had a bad week and need to vent... I have been doing this journey for over a year and a half now and got everything done and my file summited to the insurance Medical review board on March 20th.. They are still working on it and the time is killing me. They wanted a paper from my Dr stating I quit smoking , that took my Doctors office 3 weeks to write and fax... Geez... Now the insurance company says I did not complete my 6 month diet.. I DID.. They want another month so thank God we are not out of April yet.. They will get their paper Tuesday and then I hope I will be done and approved.. It's been over 30 days... Then last Tuesday the insurance company said to be : Oh you know your hubby works at Lowe's and Lowe's is dropping coverage of the lapband as of May 1st?.. I thought I would die.. I said your giving me 8 days to get approved and get the surgery??? She said yes Well I hung up with her cried my eyes out. Composed myself and got back on the phone.. Called Lowe's corporate office and spoke to the main woman in the HR dept. She said she knew nothing about this and would look into it.. Well at 6pm that night she called and said she was sorry it was all a Big Mistake.... OMG.. Can you believe what I went through??? What a mental game they are playing with me... I think I had a breakdown... So far BCBS AL has not recieved the updated paper work telling them it was all a mistake It is phone call after phone call all day every day for me.. I am mentally tired. But I wont give up..... So bottom line. If you run into a brick wall , don't give up.. FIGHT< FIGHT < FIGHT them. They want us to quit. But don't give them the satifaction... I will keep you all informed on what is happening this coming week... Pray for me and my quick APPROVAL .. Thanks Ladies...Its good to have support here and friends.. God Bless you alll.. I am in NC my name is Rose...:smile2:

My name is Rose and I live in Rutherfordton, NC, It's close to Asheville. I am 46 weight 258 and I am married to John and my daughter Roseann is 27 and she lives in Florida and has our first grandson Gianni 10 months old. My son Gabriel is 21 and is also in Fl. I miss them so much.... I tired the Dr's in Asheville and did not like how they try pushing Gastric by pass on me. And other reasons.. I also tried Hickory but too many extra out of pocket costs. Now I am with Dr Kuwada in Charolette he is great but his office staff are a stressful bunch of people. I am waiting on my Approval with the insurance BCBS AL since March 20th... I would love to find friends close to me and maybe we can talk and support one another.. I am going through a stressful time waiting on approval.....I am a stay at home wife now..Email me any time.... God Bless you all I love these posts.:tongue_smilie:

Horrors, Triumphs, and the Like in the RTP area....
wrestlersmom replied to NicoleW8ing's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
We all need to read these stories about these Doctors and their office staff.. We all will deal with the office staff daily than with the doctor We only see the Dr once and then at surgery. If the office staff sucks then we are in trouble. Then we have to get stressed out every time we have to talk to one of them...By people like you writing about your experience and posting it for us to read, we get to fish out all the bad places to go and help each other go to the great Doctors, with Great staff's We all want a Dr with a great bed side manner and most of all we ALL want A Doctors office STAFF that is helpful not nasty. I am going through a very hard time with my Doctors office staff in Charlotte. I have been crying for days because of the 2weeks of wasted time they have put me through. On Tuesday it will be my 30th day my paper work is with my insurance company. I am still waiting on APPROVAL.. BUt my Dr's office staff ( Insurance lady in office named LISA) does not know how to do her job. I hate the fact I have to deal with the office staff But I know in my heart the Dr is Great. SO I have to wait this all out like my Dr said today, for maybe 2 more weeks until I get approved... This waiting sucks.. It's so stressful.... -

New here, figured I'd say hi
wrestlersmom replied to catseye's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Luna, Your like me , we have been reading these posts but don't post.. I just started to post.. I am waiting for approval from my insurance company BCBS AL... I think you should talk to your sister in law once and for all . Tell her how much you have read on the lapband subject and the way you have to eat after you get it done.. Explain to her as long as a person follows what they are suppose to do, you have no problems.. But if you starve your self or don't go back to the Dr when you suppose to, then you will have problems.. Have her come on here and read the posts here and tell her you would like for her to understand what will be happening with you after the lapband so she can be supportive of you. Tell her there is no place in your mind or heart for negativity and you have re-serched this a lot and are not just jumping into this. She must know you have tried to lose weight before and she knows how you have gained it back.. Tell her you want her support. I hope and pray she understands.. God Bless you.. I am behind you... Rose:biggrin2: -

BCBS of AL 6-month diet question
wrestlersmom replied to Southern Missy's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have BCBC AL and if your Dr's will state that you have been on a diet for 6 months he has to document every time you went in for a weight check then it will work.. But BCBS AL will not take weight watchers as a subsitute for the 6 months Dr's visits.. Here below are the by laws... Notice the words that are in BOLD...... RE read it..Sometimes it takes a few times to understand.... Hope this helps.... 1. BMI of 40 or greater, or BMI of 35 or greater with co-morbid conditions including but not limited to HTN on optimal drug therapy, cardiovascular disease, diabetes (must be treated with insulin or oral agents), pulmonary hypertension, or severe obstructive sleep apnea. (RDI of 50 or greater). (NIH, 1998 and American Society for Bariatric Surgery). For BMI calculation see Redirect Page. 2. The condition of morbid obesity (BMI ≥ 40 or BMI ≥ 35 with presence of comorbid conditions) must be of at least 5 3 years duration. There must be documentation in medical records by a primary care or attending physician of patient height and weight for the past 3 years. A letter from the primary care physician and dated photographs will be considered in lieu of recorded heights and weights. Random reviews of these patients’ charts for accuracy of stated information will be conducted. 3. Documentation must be present of participation in medically supervised weight loss program. For purposes of coverage, we (BCBS) recognize medical supervision of the diet and activity program by practicing MD's who are not bariatric surgeons, such as family practitioners, internists, and other primary care specialties. Documentation provided by these health care providers will be recognized in the review process. At least one attempt must occur during the one year prior to request for surgery or date of surgery. Documentation must support participation in the program for six consecutive months. The following criteria must be met for this participation: ▪ Documentation of participation in a physician supervised program of nutrition and increased physical activity (including dietitian consultation, low calorie diet, increased physical activity and behavioral modification). Documentation of program participation must appear in the medical record by the attending physician. Documentation should include comments by the physician regarding patient progress or lack of progress. A letter does not meet this requirement. There must be medical records to document medically supervised weight loss attempts; OR ? Acceptable with medical record documentation of medical supervision are: Weight Watchers, LA Weight Loss, Jenny Craig, EatRight etc. Not acceptable are self-directed programs such as joining a gym, Atkins’ diet, calorie counting, low fat, cutting back, internet programs, etc. 4. A complete history and physical must be performed by the bariatric surgeon to include height and weight. 5. The patient must be at least 18 years of age. 6. Due to the surgical morbidity associated with concomitant pulmonary disease coverage will not be provided for anyone who has smoked in less than eight weeks prior to surgery. -
No I did not have it yet... But I have spoken with my insurance company and DR's office and was told lapband surgery is an outpatient surgery and we do NOT need to pay our deductable.. I just told this to someone the other day and she called her insurance and they confirmed what I said...What state are you in? WHat insurance do you have? My name is Rose..let ,me know
-
Check with your insurance company.. Lapband is a outpatient process... Which mean you DO NOT have to meet a deductable.. SO dont pay anything over your $100 co pay....Any Dr's office wanting money for some thing or another. is out for money .. find someone else... You should not have to pay these extra fees.....Remember the most important word is OUT PATIENT..

I regret having the lap band surgery (m)
wrestlersmom replied to allykat's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did not read all the replies and I dont know how long you have been married.. But In a way I think he is being selfish and proberly worried when you get to a goal weight you might leave him.. He needs to stand by you and if he does not dont let him get you down.. You needed this for MANY reasons.. Men sometime feel if we stay this way we wont ever be able to leave them if we have to cause no one wants to date or be with a a heavy woman.. SO lose the weight and talk things out with him.. Good Luck you have my support 1000 times over..
