No advice (I will be banded on 11/1) but wanted to just say congratulations!! I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Darn head hunger!!! I am not banded yet (11/1), but when I am dieting, I usually have to get outside and do something, go for a drive, brush my teeth, anything!!! Good luck, I hope it passes soon!

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
MissMom24 replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I saw Dr. K on Monday and the whole money thing was brought up to me as well...It didn't really bother me, because I just figured he wanted everyone to know up front. I was perfectly fine with him and because he is local how can I lose? I am with everyone else, go with your gut, you have to be comfrotable, or you will end up with issues. Brandy -
I am November 1st! YAY!

No worries, Mal! The kids were anxious to get out of there...even though they were great, they still wanted to be "free"! :biggrin1: -

lab band/or gastric bypas
MissMom24 replied to scanj05's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally have heard to many horror stories with bypass. I have only heard of handful of stories with the lap band. Don't let other persuade you, you know what you need to do in your heart! Good luck with your decision! Brandy -
HA HA!! That is funny!! I would have never put that in my pocket, it would have gone straight to my mouth! Those are my favorite!! Brandy

I agree, we are always so much harder on ourselves than others view us. Like someone said before, you are probably average. There are things I am sure that you like about yourself, if you really think about it. For me, I love my teeth, I HATE the dark circles under my eyes. Everyone is different, find something you love about yourself and embrace it! Brandy

Hi Everyone~ THANK you for such a warm welcome!! I have not been home all weekend, so I am just now getting on! Amazing, how many people are connected on this site! My consult with Dr. K is at 2:15 today, it sounds like I will have to wait awhile before I am seen (is it rude to call ahead and come closer to the time that I will probably be seen? I will most likely have my daughter and another little girl). I am so excited, I can't hardly stand it!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Drew...where do you live at in Brighton? Do you Kelli Hailey? I know that she is a roller derby chic, although fairly new at it. I am in Brighton East Farms, off of 42nd and Bridge...Strange, I have probably seen you around!! Anita...Your before picture is truly amazing! You look great as a blonde and you like a new woman! Can't wait to be joining you (although I think that I will just do the high light thing)! I can't wait to meet everyone and the meet and greet and by then I should have surgery scheduled! I have decided to go ahead and do it A.S.A.P. vs waiting until after the holidays. If I put it off, I think I will always put it off, if I am going to change, I just need to go ahead and do it. Just curious, How hard was it to give up pop? My Diet Dr. Pepper is my "coffee" if you will and I know that it is not good for the band! Seriously, how hard is it??? That is going to be one of the harder things for me, and chewing slow! But I will get it! Talk to everyone soon! Brandy -
Can anyone recommend any good (and fairly inexpensive) powdered ones? I don't want to buy a zillion flavors to find one that I like. I would like a good, high quality, high Protein and great tasting to boot! TIA!!
-
Does anyone do or recommend counseling prior/during weight loss? I know that I am a big emotional eater and that it is going to be very difficult for me when I am banded (even though I am going to do it). What would a counselor do? How does one go about finding one that is qualified to help with emotional eating? I just dont want anything to stand in the way of my success. I think that the sooner I deal with stuff (pre-band) the better off I would be post-band! TIA!!

Hi there~ I too, have been lurking on this post, for quite awhile! My name is Brandy (duh), I am a mom and do have 4 kiddos. 3 boys and a little girl! I live in Brighton, and was thrilled to see that Dr. K is so close by. I go in on Monday for my consult! Yay! Finally...:whoo:and can't wait to get started! I know that you all meet at Red Robin somewhere in Denver, I would love to meet some prior patients and get all the dirt on what it is really like...when is the next "meet and greet"? Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello! Congratulations to everyone who is newly banded and I am excited to be joining you soon!! Brandy -
I just wanted to say SORRY!! I am hoping that it all goes O.K. for you. I would really push the doc for some sort of discount, free fills or something...all they can tell you is no. Hopefully it is not stated somewhere in all the paperwork that you signed that this "although rare, could happen". Keep us posted!!
-
I am happy to hear that your mom is O.K.! I am sure that your body was just reacting to the stress and the crappy day that you had been on. Just try to relax and you will do great! Good luck to you!!
-
This is exactly why I opted to self pay!!! I hate insurance!! My daughter was born with a cleft lip/palate and other syndromes...I couldn't get BCBS to cover speech therapy. I had to fight tooth and nail to get it. Even after insurance, we owe approx. 30,000 for medical not covered by insurance! AAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!! I know that there was no way they would qualify me for surgery!!
-
Not banded yet (my consult is Monday) but I say: You Go Girls!!! You are all inspirational and you make me know in my heart that this will work as long as I am willing to do the work! Espically since I am self-pay! :waytogo: Congratulations!

Worried about how my boyfriend will handle the "new me"
MissMom24 replied to Candle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I totally agree with Ragdoll, at this stage of the game, nothing my husband can do or say will change my mind. NOTHING! I know that in my heart I am doing this for ME, no one else. I have confidence that he will see me through, but if he doesn't than it is his loss! -
I am not banded yet, but I took phentermine with awesome success (at first, hence the reason I am here). I lost 42 pounds in 6 months! Too bad, it wasn't permanent. I may try it again after I am banded, but before a fill. Will just have to see how it goes!

Finding a boyfriend/girlfriend on LBT?
MissMom24 replied to neveragain's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Would he want someone with kids (3 in all)??? I have a friend from H.S. that lives in Phoenix...Don't think that she is taken yet... -
That is so great!!! I am a twin myself so I know that it can be fun! Congratulations (and good luck) to you and your family! Brandy

What to do with all of our old clothing??
MissMom24 replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If they are nice and decent items, you can always eBay it and make some $$$ to get new clothes. I never would have believed it, but I made over $1000.00 last year on used baby clothes!! That is what I am planning to do. Your best bet would to "lot" a bunch of them togther, that way your getting rid of more than just one item at a time! Good luck!! Brandy -
I would weigh myself at home. Seeing that you don't see you doctor every week (or everyday for that matter). I would weigh wherever you can do it on a consistent basis.
