Initially, I had a lap band placed in October 2013, but it kept slipping and causing issues, so I modified to the sleeve. With the band, I lost about 35 lbs, but gained more than that back at the time of my sleeve due to the issues I was having. I initially lost quite a bit of weight while taking Phentermine as well, which accounted for my first 30lb loss in this trek I have been on. I have been working with doctors and nutritionists on my weight for over 2 years now, and have been through 2 surgeries. But, at this point, with the sleeve in place, I feel like I am actually feeling restriction and getting closer to my goal faster.
I know that so many people are focused on "getting healthy" or "being thin", I have never been one to care about being thin. I have never been thin, and have no idea what that might be like. I do, however have back pain that restricts me quite a bit, and I want to be out of pain. Losing this weight is meant to help me toward that goal of living without pain.
