    2008 National Lap-Band Conference

What day is the "conference only" @ $45.00? My spouse will never need the LB, but he was coming along with me for the 3 days. Does the $150.00 cover both of us or is going to cost me $300.00? I feel that bubble shrinking.....

Please visit http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/2008-national-lap-band-conference-74558/ and let us know if you're planning to attend. I think this will get you to the info. For those of us that keep straying out of that box, this sounds like a great motivator to me!

Don't burst my bubble now! The info didn't say anything about a fee.

:thumbup:I am sooooo EXCITED!!!:cool2: Just completed my reservations, and I can't wait!! It has taken me almost a whole year to lose just 40 lbs. But I am so thankful for the loss. Without the band I would have kept that 40 and already added another 20 to it! This convention is just the motivation I need. It's going to be so informative!

HELLO EVERYONE!! I have really missed this site. I work on a computer all day and don't want to get on the one at home at all! Work had this blocked for some reason or another and we are just now able to get back in. I have finally hit the 40 lb loss, but it has taken me a year to do it! My own fault,I LIKE Chocolate!!! Sounds like I missed a really good meeting Monday. I just made my reservations for the lapband conference in Irving coming up Oct.3. It sounds like the perfect motivation that I desperately need. A plus for me is my husband is going, he has a Dr. appt @ Baylor that same weekend, so it's worked out perfect for us. I am really looking forward to going, hope some of you can come as well. Later,

Good Morning Bandsters!! I really got a lot out of last Monday's meeting. It was really nice to meet you Sugarbear and Tpagern. You both are doing good. 50 lbs is quite an accomplishment. I get a little discouraged when everybody is always asking me how much have I lost and they can tell that by looking at me, I haven't lost much. I'm not losing as fast as "some" people expect me too. But, no matter, I just keep going along slowly. I've only lost 26lbs since Oct. and at least they were lost and not gained!! Since last Monday, I've been keeping a food journal and counting the protein and calories. I fall short everyday of the recommended requirements, but at least I have a better idea of what I'm doing. I've been getting in at least 30 minutes of exercise daily, walking and yard work, etc. The scales have once again started to move. I haven't had a fill in @ 2 months now. Just haven't had a chance to get in to see Dr.K. There is one negative aspect of being banded that no one ever mentioned to me before, and that is that your esophagus has to work to push food down. Just as any muscle that is really getting worked it builds itself up and thickens, your esophagus will do the same thing over time. This will further constrict your passageway for food to go thru. This tells me that this is one reason we should really chew up our food and eat the things that don't have such a hard time going down. Ya'll have a great day !! OH! I FOUND SOMEONE'S BOX~~AND I GOT IN IT!!!!

:rolleyes2: Hell00000 Monday mornin' I am soooo glad to see this sunshine!! I plan on making the meeting tonight @ Wadley. Hope to see a crowd there! I'll be wearing black jeans and a grey top. I've been scanning over the threads here and it sounds like despite our pitfalls, we're all still hanging on. We all have a dream and a goal to aspire to and it will come to pass if we just stick together and keep talking and giving support to one another. See ya!:smile2:

Good morning Sugarbear! I was glad to read Dr.H's advice on how to get better control over the sugar cravings. I'm going to make more of an effort to take in more protein. Dr.Paolucci, Dr.Sorenson & Dr. Hillis all saw my hubby and I really couldn't tell you which one did the surgery! We've got bills coming in from every Dr. in Texarkana I think!! I think Paolucci did it though. Yes, they did wrap his esophagus with a portion of his upper stomach and stitched it in place, pretty tightly to stop the reflux he has been having for several years, which in turn also caused an aggravating non stop cough that he's had for years. He is doing better, but has lost 20 lbs he really didn't need to lose. He's so tight he can barely drink water. He used to drink lot's of water, 2 or 3 glasses during a meal, now it's all he can do to drink 1/2 cup. Talk about restriction!! Back to the cravings.....Chocolate is all I crave and sometimes I binge on it until I feel sick. Somewhere I read that children of alcoholics are often sugarholics/chocoholics as adults. I have a sister that could be an alcoholic, but she watches it closley, and she doesn't give a hoot about chocolate. I don't give a hoot about alcohol, but I do love my chocolate. I eat it EVERYDAY!! I'm going to get back on the chocolate slim fast and see if that will suffice for me........boy, I thought this lapband thing was going to be a breeze, guess it is for some people. I tried to update my ticker but can't get a slider put in there! I have lost 25lbs since Oct.17th I think and have 90 to go. That's another whole person! Is there a meeting tonight in T town?

Hello Everyone~ Didn't mean to stay away for so long! I haven't even been to see Dr.K in 2 month's. We've had a new grandson, who's healthy as can be! I've been sick with sinus, etc. My hubby has been off work for 2 months, sick, in the hospital, then back in the hospital. He had gallbladder removal and hiatal hernia repair where they wrapped part of his esophagus with part of his stomach. Now it's just like he lapband too. He has a hard time swallowing anything and has to eat like me. I have not gained or lost anything to speak of. Pretty disappointed in myself. I am not hungry and my last fill gave me pretty good restriction. For the life of me, I cannot kick the sugar habit. I am addicted and I don't know HOW to beat this. I really need a support group! I've missed ya'll.

Man! I can't believe I missed the meeting last night. It was on my list of things to do, I lost my list and for the life of me could not remember what the last thing on the list was, which was to go to the meeting. I had five 50lb bags of horse feed to unload before it rained last night and that's all I had on my mind I guess. I had a bunch of errands to run yesterday, including 2 doctor appt.'s and one was with Dr.K. I lost 2 pounds and got my 4th fill, which I definitely feel. The second dr appt, had me losing 4 lbs and I know I have lost because I'm wearing almost 2 sizes smaller than before surgery.

Been a while since I've checked in. Sounds like all of you are doing great. I go to Dr.K today, hope to get another fill, it would be my third. Am feeling great, have more energy but still haven't lost any pounds to speak of. My clothes are fitting much better, and some are actually too big now! I am hopeful for summertime that I will be down a couple more sizes. I plan on being at the meting tonight. See ya, I'll be wearing a purple & black jogging suit.

Hello everyone! Man, I can't believe I let the 14th slip by. I forgot all about the meeting, and I really wanted to go. I had gained 3lbs over the holidays, and I didn't even eat hardly any junk or sweets. I got my 2nd fill Dec.31st, and I can tell there is some restriction now. I still have a hard time with sweets and not drinking enough water, but I'm working on it. I won't get on the scales anymore. I'm feeling more energetic everyday now and my clothes are fitting much better. My daughter said she couldn't tell if I was losing or not because my clothes were always so baggy. I took that as a compliment!!

Sugarbear there were a LOT of gray headed ladies there last night! LOL,Sorry I missed you. I am pumped up again, now I have new hopes of dropping a few pounds before I go back the 31st. too. Next time I will get there early and I won't sit on the back wall!

Yes, I made the meeting last night. It was just what I needed. Now I know the biggest mistake I've been making and that was not eating any breakfast! So I started today with a scrambled egg from the microwave. I learned a lot. I would have liked to have stayed and met everyone, but I had not eaten all day and felt like I was going to be sick if I didn't get something pretty quick, plus I still had an hours drive to get home. I got home at 10 till 9 and have to get up at 4 every morning to come to work and start all over again. This morning, I even made time for a few wt. exercises!! Where did you sit at Teresa? I was the only woman sitting against the back wall and I have shoulder length red hair.

Sounds like everyone is doing pretty good. Nothing like a little shopping to give me a push to exercise more so I can fit into a smaller size! I've been doing a few cruches and working my arms and legs on weights. I was really hoping to be at least one size smaller by Christmas. I'm trying to drink more fluids and stop eating between meals. I'm in this mindset that because I can't eat that much at one time, I should still lose, but I know that those calories are adding up at the end of the day. I pop food in my mouth without even thinking until it's too late. I'm going to make every effort to be at that meeting tonight so I can get some ideas maybe and learn from what others have to share. Sugarbear, my appt on the 31st is at 10:15.

Thanks Lisa and Teresa for the "stay in the box rules". I see that I have been "out" of the box, no wonder I'm not losing anything, I can eat "anything" I want, I eat between meals, the feeling of fullness doesn't stay with me very long somedays. I am not making proper food choices either. I have been really baaad!!! I am going to focus more on staying in the box from this day forward. I go back to Dr.Keilin Dec.31st. Hopefull I will be a few pounds lighter. I'm also going to make the next meeting, which is next Mon. I think. Thanks for everything and hope ya'll all have a good week ahead

Lisa G, I've never been given anything by Betty concerning staying in the box? What are some of the things to do to stay in the box? I know to drink water and to watch portions, what else? Thanks for the encouragement.

sorry bout that!! I meant to say more than just hello!! I had my first fill Nov 19th, i could still eat anything I want, including bread, just can't eat as much. My mind and my mouth says it wants more, but my tummy is stuffed! I am not losing like I thought I would. In fact, think I gained a couple pounds last week. I know I am not making enough right food choices and I'm not getting enough exercise. I have got to make the meeting on Dec.10th because I need the support and the knowledge I can obtain from all of you that attend.

    Texarkana Bandsters

Good morning everyone! Well since I was banded 10/17/07, think I've lost about 20 lbs.:clap2: This has been a rough 2 weeks though. Yesterday I finally figured out that the severe side ache I was having all this time was GAS!! Finally bought some med. and within the hour it finally started dissipating! I picked up my 2 yr old grandson last week and immediately put him right back down! For one second there, I forgot about being unable to pick up anything over 20 lbs. I haven't been sick but have been pretty light headed. Doesn't take much to fill me up, never hungry but still want to EAT!:hungry: :hungry: :hungry: The last couple of days I've been drinking the Kelloggs Protein Drinks and have eaten a scrambled egg and a little chicken, and I seem to be feeling better. I have a desk job so I have got to incorporate some walking at lunch and breaks. Hope everyone is doing well. Sometime last week I think, one of the banded ladies was trying to get her horse up and she pulled on it too hard, causing her port to flip. She had been banded several months ago. I was wondering if we can NEVER push or pull again, no matter how long ago we had surgery? I do ride horses and have been waiting till I was good and healed before mounting up again. Now I have reservations about it because a horse can do anything at anytime, and I sure don't want to undo what's been done. Sorry to be so long..........later:)
