I had my gastric bypass (Roux-en-Y) in Nov 2003. The primary reason that I'm getting on this forum now is for my daughter. She's getting ready to have the gastric sleeve Jan 27th. She's a very picky eater and I'm trying to help her find some good protein options and other things to eat. I would also share any of my story but it was 10 years ago and unfortunately I didn't keep a diary, something I suggest that everyone do at least for a year or 2. This is a life changing experience but for those that are just beginning, I am here to tell you that you do get your life back but it's much better, at least for me.
By the way, my husband also had the same surgery one month later in Dec 2003. His actions were totally different than mine as he never has taken any vitamins, never drank protein drinks and can eat way more sweets than me. In other words, he's done all the things that we were told not to ever do but he also has done OK.
