SparkleCat replied to StacyS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 22 months out and still embracing life as a normal sized person! Skiing? Hell yes! Wear a bikini, even with a bit of a gut??? Hell yes! Full body photo on a beach?? Hell yes!! And the following was 2 months prior to surgery Sent from my iPhone using BariatricPal -
I am pre-op (two more weeks!) but would love to participate in a Denver/ Denver Metro area Local Chapter!

Before And After Gastric Sleeve Surgery Photos
SparkleCat replied to StacyS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Updated before and after following my first 5k! SW 231 CW 142 (And, yes I have a beer in my hand in each photo! Difference is I definitely drank the one in the before, and didn't drink the one in the after!) -
I know that after vsg (or all wls) our stomachs tend to turn into rumbly, grumbly, talkative little monsters...I and my entire office is listening to mine right now! I know it is common...but I am curious as to what the physiological reason might be. My tummy was as silent as a lamb before surgery...but now? It is definitely found it's voice! Anyone know why this is so common?

Amazing! Congrats! How did you feel afterward? It was awesome! My mini goal was to run it under 40 minutes...my lofty goal was under 35....I ran 34:56!! Not too shabby I am now looking for a 5K in June!
-
I made it! And ran the whole time (I'm on the left)

Rumbly Stomach...Why?
SparkleCat replied to SparkleCat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to my 1 year follow up appointment and actually asked my surgeon this question! Basically he said your stomach is just as rumbly as it has always been...but without all the insulation, you can hear it now! So the extra 15 inches of fat around my mid-section was muffling all the noises going on in there -
I was sleeved by Dr. Brown on 3/30/15. Dr. Brown, the anaesthesiologist, and nursing staff were wonderful. I left the hospital with minimal pain. My 2 week post op appointment is scheduled on 4/15/15. When are you scheduled? Congrats!!! I have my one year follow up today! I have had a wonderful experience, lost 85 lbs and, zero complications and couldn't have been more pleased with my surgeon and surgery.

My first 5k is in May!! Never have a ran more than a block! And now my goal is run the full 3.1 miles....amazed at what I can and am willing to do after the sleeve!

What fitness related EVENT are you training/preparing for?
SparkleCat replied to catfish87's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Just registered for my first 5K! I'm going to be doing the Colorado Rockies homerun for the homeless in May! I have been training for the past month and hopefully I can run the entire thing by May 3rd. Two months ago I had only run maybe a quarter of a mile total in my entire life! -
Excellent reminder as I hit the one year mark! Grazing and eating carbs have definitely snuck back in. The first year was relatively easy....maintenance is looking like it will be the tough part!

Question for "well-endowed" ladies...
SparkleCat replied to RedSalamander's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went from a 38-40 DD to a 34 C/D Sleeve 4/21/14, SW 231 CW 144 The one thing I miss after losing weight is my full and shapely boobs...they are pretty deflated and I have to wear a padded bra for the first time in my life....I even have had friends (yes, more than one!) exclaim " what the hell happened to your boobs!?" Granted, I am in my mid 40's so I guess it's normal, but I do miss my girls! That said, I would change my size 4/6 butt for anything! -
A bikini, is it a reality....
SparkleCat replied to AutumnPunkin's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have decided at the ripe old age of 45, that I am going to wear a bikini this summer! In fact, I have thrown out my tummy-covering tankinis and ordered 2 bikinis....my tummy and thighs look a bit like melting silly putty, but, like you, it is an article of clothing that I have NEVER worn and, by God, I am not going to let a little saggy skin stand in the way of my first tan on my belly One thing I love about losing 90 pounds is that I am no longer constantly thinking about/obsessing on how I look in clothes....wearing a tank top would give me anxiety all day...I was never comfortable in shorts, form-fitting dresses had me in tears and the bikini? I never even considered it! In fact, when I would see them at stores I would be filled with sadness knowing that it was never something I could even consider. These days, the relief of no longer obsessing about my image is a gift! I not only bought a bikini, but two pairs of "cheeky" panties, dress slacks that are form-fitting rather than loose, a tank top with a built-in bra, leggings that I am willing to wear outside my house and more. Just my two cents...but Enjoy the freedom! I guarantee no one but you cares about a little tummy sag -
Had breast reduction on Monday -- still in hospital
SparkleCat replied to IcanMakeit's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I've had two surgeries in my life, VSG and a breast reduction....both were two of the best decisions I have ever made! I had the reduction 15-16 years ago...and they still look pretty good...nipples face forward and not to the floor! I will say that after losing 85 pounds, if I bend over naked, my boobs look a bit like socks with a tennis ball in the toe! They say breast reductions have one if the highest satisfaction rates if any surgery...I believe it! Enjoy the new and improved girls! -
Your dream outfit
SparkleCat replied to bobbyswife's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Awwww thanks! Though, truth be told, the material had a wonderful "hold it all in" stretch! -
Your dream outfit
SparkleCat replied to bobbyswife's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I finally was able to fit into and look good in a bodycon style dress....and it was Banana Republic...a brand I have NEVER been able to wear before! I should have bought the dang thing! -
You know you lost weight when
SparkleCat replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I saw a gap between my thighs for the first time in my life! I wore leggings and a hip length shirt in public (it was after the gym and after my friend repeatedly told me I didn't look ridiculous!) -
Name something strange and super unhealthy that you used to eat before weight loss
SparkleCat replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Food and Nutrition
Toast with lots of butter and cinnamon sugar dipped in a mug of hot chocolate....so good and oh so not good for you! -
I took my first bath since surgery 7 months ago....what a revelation! My belly stayed underwater the entire time!

Rumbly Stomach...Why?
SparkleCat replied to SparkleCat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! I find that it is noisiest after I eat....and I never really feel hungry in relation to the noise. I am 7 months out and the rumbling really started in earnest around 3 months out. Interesting stuff! -
Also dresses!!! They have never fit right until now!
-
I am now obsessed with blue jeans! Specifically J Crew's Vintage Matchstick jeans....the make my butt look good and DONT have a ton of stretch. I am also obsessed with shopping for jeans....and dresses and button down shirts and tucking in those button down shirts! 7 months ago I only had Old Navy super stretchy "sweetheart" jeans...they were cheap and kind of fit (they were stretched to maxim capacity!), I didn't even try button down shirts and you can forget about ever tucking anything in! I never knew how much fun clothes could be! Especially considering how much I hated them before! Do y'all have any new, unexpected obsessions after wls?
