5 weeks out...can finally see a difference!
SparkleCat posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
A photo of myself today and compared it to a photo from March.. HW 231 (in the before photo) SW 220 CW 194 -
Officially under 200! Yay! Next goals 1. Get into my size 12 jeans and be able to wear them for more than an hour! (I have them on now but will probably take them off when I finish typing cause I may still rip the seams with one deep squat!) 2. Go under my all time low of 180, which I saw for about 15 minutes 4 years ago!

Magic bullet vs Ninja master prep
SparkleCat replied to Saralynn43's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have both. Bullet is good for shakes, ninja is better for frozen fruit and harder food. I don't own a blender, so if you already have a good one might as well test it out Bullet does add quite a bit of air...so drinks etc are frothier -

How Fun! Riding my bike is one of my favorite Spring/ Summer activities...it's a great way to discover your city, get some exercise and have fun. I hope you love it and continue! Enjoy!

Agreed....I sent emails, called and got nothing. I am glad I eventually went with Dr Brown, support staff is wonderful and my surgery went as well as it possibly could...very pleased And I still haven't heard from Dr Snyders office...
-
Seriously???? Do you think I just eat whatever I want without regards to my instructions??? Did I somewhere ask for an opinion or a lecture about my diet?? I am following the plan set out my surgeon and his team after diligent follow up.
-
My surgeon was Dr Thomas Brown and I was very pleased! They have monthly support groups on Thursdays which, unfortunately, is the day I usually work late so I haven't been able to make it I had a friend who used Dr Snyder and she loved him....his office never returned my calls though

I am three weeks out and am also able to "gulp" Water and Protein shakes...have been for the past week and a half...it's actually like several big swallows in a row. I just started soft food and I can definitely feel the restriction more now...for example, I had planned on three small meatballs and a 1/4 cup of mashed potatoes for lunch yesterday and I was only able to eat 1 1/2 meatballs and 3 small bites of potatoes, I was only able to eat a half of a tilapia filet and was pretty uncomfortable afterward..I think solid food tends to hang out a little longer than liquid. Frankly...I love that I can drink normally...sipping for the rest of my life would have driven me crazy! I decided before surgery that my weight was going to fluctuate...stall, go up, go down. It's the nature of the beast and I can let it drive me too crazy (was up this morning and didn't lose an ounce my 2nd week) I think being a woman and at the mercy of hormonal fluctuations also can have something to do with stalls and small gains. I'm just going to enjoy drinking like a normal person and keep learning and being aware of what and how much food my sleeve will tolerate. I start the first of three monthly nutrition classes on Feb.4th and I hope to get approved for surgery by the end April. It feels like such a long time to wait! I am selfishly wanting to be in size 10/12 by the time shorts and tank top weather hits!

I only had a 3 day clear liquid diet (Thank Goodness!) I will say the three days on clear liquids were my worst days of this entire process...even more than the two days post op...I was cranky, hungry, depressed and felt "empty" I can't imagine having to do that for 1-4 weeks! Every surgeon is different in the pre-op requirements, it looks like we lucked out with ours I asked my surgeon if everything looked good in there after surgery and he smiled and said "It was all good" I did lose 11 pounds in those three days and didn't gain anything in the hospital, so it was worth it

6 Weeks Out and 25 pounds gone. Normal?
SparkleCat replied to tekjr1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Probably gaining muscle and losing fat....muscle is going to weigh more This is a good thing!!! Muscle also does wonders for your metabolism! -
Ha! I'm afraid that would be itchy!!Luckily (!) Denver is cold and snowy this week! I get a reprieve from the funk!
-
I agree with getting unflavored Protein powder....mix it with Torani sugar free syrups milk and ice or frozen fruit....not sickly sweet. My favorite is Torani Belgian cookie syrup, half a frozen banana and skim milk...blend til smooth...Soo good!

Booty Boot Camp! Month long, starts in June in Denver, CO -
How cute are you??? Excellent Job!

I promised myself I would take pictures of my progress mainly because it is so hard to see changes day to day....below is high weight (about 230), the day of surgery(220) and today (207.5)....almost 3 weeks out. Please ignore my filthy house and scowl (oh, and the horrible house shoes in the first phot!) Little by little I am getting there
-
Ha! I'm afraid I can't blame my horrible housekeeping skills on surgery...I have plenty of energy, but have never been a great tidier upper! I wouldn't qualify for hoarders...but my coffee table is never clean!

Core exercise
SparkleCat replied to Pretty_In_Purple's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery April 22...went to the doc Thursday and asked about boot camp....she said "if it hurts don't do it". Went to boot camp yesterday and was able to do all the ab work...my back was more of an issue than abs. Just listen to your body....it'll let ya know if it's not ready
