If anyone needs to update their smaller wardrobe on the cheap...ARC thrift stores are have a sale this Friday and Saturday...99 cents for shorts, capris, tank tops and swimwear! I was never a thrift shopper until wls....but I have found several shirts, shorts and two awesome pairs of jeans...one I just now fit in and a pair I hope to wear soon

I knew it was coming, but was secretly hoping I would skip shedding my limited hair supply...not that lucky...hair is falling out like crazy! My problem is I have completely white hair under all that brown color and I need to do my roots (dark hair looks MUCH thicker than the Snow White nature has blessed me with) Any one continue to color once your hair started thinning? How did it go? Any coloring products that may work better than others?

Cigna OAP require 3 or 6 month for approval
SparkleCat replied to JacobsMommy's topic in Insurance & Financing
They spoke with my PA and accepted my PCP clearance letter (which was written, signed and dated a month prior to my first class) as acceptable for the additional days needed for 89.... I was approved and Surgery proceeded as scheduled....no issues with payment. Talk to your surgical team and let them know your concern about the minimum days now and see what kind if magic they can create! Best of luck! -
Add me as well!

I just scheduled my sleeve for April (if all goes well with classes and insurance!) I am a single, 44 year old woman who lives in Denver and while I have some friends here...family is out of state and neither friends or family really understand why I am doing this. I would love to find/ meet some folks in the Denver area who have gone through bariatric surgery or are in the process of getting WLS. Thanks Much,...y'all are an inspiration to those of us just starting down this path!

One of my big NSV is not being terrified of a camera...I had to make a conscious decision to not hide when photos were being taken. Was so glad I did! I even posed in a bathing suit!
-
I skipped ahead to soft foods by about a week...But only with my surgeons PA's approval after my three week consultation! Still to the plan unless you have instructions otherwise from the Dr!

How do you treat Obese People?
SparkleCat replied to msfitn2014's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'll admit that while I don't think I treat anyone any differently, when I see someone who is obese and especially obese and obviously unhealthy (difficulty walking, breathing heavy) I do feel relief....when I was in that position it was all I thought about...my size, the amount of space I took. I still have a ways to go...but my self esteem, my thoughts, my attitude have done a 180. I am relieved that I am no longer where I think they may be -
do you notice a pattern with WL?
SparkleCat replied to ALLGODSGRACE's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
180 is the number my body seems to like to hold on to....before surgery and now after. Prior to surgery I never got lower than 180....now I am a little over 2 months out and have been between 180-181 for the past week. I do think we may have a "sweet spot" that can take longer to conquer. When I see 179 I am going to celebrate big time!!! It just may take a little longer than I'd like -
Is this even possible?! Frustrated!
SparkleCat replied to 2blessed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've noticed I get what I call a "whoosh!" I lose pounds fairly consistently, but my body stays the pretty much the same until one day, Whoosh! ....I suddenly look smaller, go down a size, clothes suddenly baggy, people notice I'm losing weight etc. heck, I might have even gained a couple if ounces, but the Whoosh! Still happens! I also agree with other posters....I could get the size 14's on thanks to the super stretchy material...but should I have been in a 16 or even 18??? Absolutely! Stretchy jeans can be the devil for those of us losing weight....they will last forever! -

Post WLS exercise tips
SparkleCat replied to wablue31's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I signed up for a booty bootcamp 5 weeks after surgery. I hate cardio (but still do it) and I'm a firm believer that muscle tone and increased muscle mass not only make you look a lot better (healthy and fit rather than "skinny"), but muscle also burns fat more effectively. I concentrate on core, glutes, legs, chest, back....big muscle groups. Working my core also helps me with back pain and balance. My doc said "if it hurts, don't do it" and encouraged strength training. I signed up and paid for a month long bootcamp to get me motivated -
I was a DD before surgery, now a D 3 months out....I thought I would be bummed losing boobs...but they fit my smaller body better. My girls are, fortunately, staying very proportionate to my changing body) (I did have a reduction to a C many years ago....not sure if that made a difference)

I asked my nut at my 6 week post op....she said straws were find as long as I wasn't having any gas issues, which I haven't. I've used a straw since then.

Can you compare restriction band to sleeve?
SparkleCat replied to NoDramaLlama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 8 weeks out and have not thrown up once...I have eaten too much and was very uncomfortable, but never threw up. It's the main reason I chose the sleeve...less chance of vomiting. I'm not saying everyone is like me...but a lot of Sleevers seem to be. -
I am having some pain and swelling in 2 of My incisions. I never had any pain prior but now they are really sore. I do notice a couple of stitches coming out of both of these incisions than either haven't dissolved or aren't going to. I don't think it's bad enough to go to the doctor so I thought I would test all of you experts . Anyone else experienced this? Sorry for the gross photo! But it may help plus maybe some can see what seven week incisions look like.

incision pain 7 weeks out
SparkleCat replied to SparkleCat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's kind of what worries me. I Had a friend who had an appendectomy one week before my surgery and her scars are completely healed, you can't even see them. Just sent an email to the surgeons office -
Oops! Duplicate! Stupid phone!

And! My support panties are no longer supportive....they are just granny panties! (Guess I need to go shopping!)

Noticed a strange one today....hopefully some will relate Wearing a dress today when I realized my thighs were making a random, kind of gross, slap sound when I walked....it then occurred to me that they were no longer stuck together like glue creating god awful thigh rash! My thighs finally are almost free!

Not big enough for WLS?
SparkleCat replied to I will what I want's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I heard the same....my bmi was just over 35 when I started...I unintentionally gained some weight a month after, but was still under my surgeons general patient profile. 6 weeks out and I am SO glad I took the plunge! Listen to your heart, not others opinions -
5 weeks out...can finally see a difference!
SparkleCat replied to SparkleCat's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks! Though I do think a lot has to do with the angle . Straight on vs side view. I'm doing great! I've been lucky in that I have had zero complications and minimum pain. Loving shopping in my own closet and I love that my boobs are finally bigger than my belly
