Gaining slightly during a stall
SparkleCat posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Promised myself I would not freak out over a stall....and I'm honestly not. I just have a small concern that I'm curious about. In the past 3-4 days I have gained about 3 lbs....got down to 168 lbs on Monday and have inched up to 171 yesterday and today. Diet is a little different...have eaten minimal carbs (1/2 cup of Kashi Go Lean cereal, a handful if grapes and, during a dinner party, snatched a couple of fries from a friends plate). Have also not worked out quite as much because of a new job. Even with these two things, I eat WAY less than before and don't think it could account for a 3 lb gain. The other variable is I have been pretty lucky and my weightloss has been ahead of my Dr's schedule. Are small gains pretty normal as your body is adjusting and changing or is this something I should be more concerned about? Surgery date: 4/22/14 HW: 231 SW: 220 Low Weight: 168.4 CW: 171 Thanks for the insight! (Sent from my phone, please ignore typos and auto-correct!) -
You know you lost weight when

I keep having these moments of have you lost your mind? Surgery 18 hours away.

I had very little pain after. The first 24 hours kind of sucked, but it was smooth sailing for me anyway after. I was lucky and had no gas pain, was nauseous only once. Dr Brown used an "On-Q pain pump" that might have made the difference (who really knows) basically it delivered topical pain meds directly I to my abdomen for about 48 hours. I have heard great things about dr Snyder....you should be in good hands! -

Who is your surgeon? I had dr. Brown and he was amazing! Most surgeons here are very good...I haven't heard of hardly any issues with the Big 3 here. Let me know if I can help! -
We’re excited to announce a brand new version of our free iOS & Android app!

I did....you have to turn ON notifications, then turn OFF each alert. If you just turn off all notifications, they won't actually stop sending push alerts -

Help! I turned off push notifications a few days ago..and it's still off, but today my phone is exploding with BP notifications! Sounds and pop ups every time someone responds to something I've participated in. Is there another setting I'm not seeing? -
Does anyone have trouble viewing Bariatric Pal on the phone?

And, since the old app doesn't work on kindle, I wouldn't be able to access this thread to see if your link would, in fact, work on that platform -

I don't think you can use android apps on a kindle. It's a shame you gave up that platform and don't allow the older version to be used -

Is there an update in the Kindle store? As of yesterday I couldn't use the app without updating, but there wasn't an update available for my Kindle Fire tablet. It freezes on my iPhone 5s....so I took it off. -
Some unexpected NSVs have me LOLing in public. You?
SparkleCat replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
Okay...I'll say it! I never expected personal hygiene to be easier! From showering, going potty, grooming....less time, less effort, cleaner. Without going into detail...just hope I'm not the only person who realized being fat had cleanliness issues I wasn't aware of until now! -

I don't think I ever believed I actually had bones in that fat body...I now find them fascinating! I sleep on my side and wake up almost every morning with my hip bones aching from all night on the mattress I am constantly messing with my collar bones...haven't really seen them before now and I can't keep my hands off them! Men now flirt with me...I don't guess I ever knew I was missing being flirted with...now I get touches on my shoulder during conversations, eyes looking me up and down, friendly hugs that last longer than they did before...this whole flirting thing is a revalation! -
My 1997 size 12 vs. 2014 size 12 jeans (with pic)
SparkleCat replied to Bluesea71's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm one of those people that put on a (and posted a photo of myself in a)size 6 and I agree...there is no way in hell my 155 lb, 45 year old butt would have gotten into a 6 just a few years ago! Vanity sizing and stretchy materials definitely put me there! But the same vanity sizing and stretch had me in 18 and 20's....so I will take it! My clothes that fit well now range from size 6 to size 12 (a work dress that I love!)....it is very confusing! -
I drink about two mugs of regular, then switch to decaf if I want more. So, both I guess

Had my first post sleeve tryst and immediately thought of this thread! It was a revelation to just enjoy and not be constantly thinking about my body! -
Those jeans are size 6!!! Never in my adult life have I put on and zipped up a size 6!!! I now love shopping!! I added a "day before surgery" photo just for grins!

I can't! I can't do it anymore!
SparkleCat replied to Fox-E's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never had to crush pills...but they did require a chewable Vitamin the first few months and recomended Centrum chewable...not great, but not horrible. I switched to regular Centrum about 2-3 months out...much easier! Can you get chewables for the big pills? At least Vitamins? Chew quick and chug Water or cranberry after! Again...not great, but a lot better than crushing regular pills...I wouldn't have been able to do it! -

Hate Hate Hate the pop-up ads all over this new version! Also, my notification settings didn't save so I had the bejeezus scared out of me at work when someone replied to a thread I posted on. Though ease of use was updated...so that's nice
