We’re excited to announce a brand new version of our free iOS & Android app!

Thanks! -
I knew I was going to have to buy a new wardrobe...You can't lose 85 lbs and not have to buy all the basics again...but shoes??? None of my shoes fit...I was a size 9 and they are falling off...I now try on size 8's! I guess I don't understand how your feet shrink! I am sure the width would change...but the length?? We are about to get a massive cold front and I was trying on my work boots with my new outfits and I am realizing I have to go out and buy new shoes today...whatever money I was saving on food is going straight to my closet!
-
As soon as my calves fit into regular tall boots I went shopping! That was a HUGE NSV for me I didn't have any health issues that explained my feet swelling...but I guess the extra 85 lbs can cause a little flat-footedness that might explain the extra shoe size I didn't expect to have to buy nex ankle boots...or pumps...or tennis shoes! I figure I can wear two pairs of thick socks with my current ankle boots until I can get the extra cash for a shoe shopping excursion

Hey Alex! Any idea why messages are being cut off in the app? It's still happening (photo below) is it just me? -

Alex, most of the messages (old and new) seem to be missing the last few lines. Not sure if that's the case on the website, but my Iphone app has a ton of blank spots -
I am a little more than 6 months post op and as of this morning hit my goal....actually, my original goal was 150 and I lowered it to 145, my surgeon just wanted me under a 30 BMI (about 175 or so) I was in a month long stall at 150-155 and was actually content to stay there when this week I started losing again, 1/2 lb to a lb a day...which you'd think I'd be ecstatic about, and I am, but am also thinking I need to slow this train down a bit. I have already switched to full fat yogurt, allow myself tastes of almost anything, but do mainly stick to high Protein. I don't count calories, but am probably in the 900-1200 a day range. I have never been this thin before...have never worn a size 6 or 8 before, friends I haven't seen in a month don't recognize me...it's starting to freak me out a bit! I don't know where the end line is and am a little afraid I am going to look gaunt and sickly....my skin already looks like it's melting...my boobs are disappearing and all my new clothes are getting too big again. Anyone else start to get nervous/scared/anxious about getting too thin? Any words of wisdom?

Slowing down or stopping weight loss
SparkleCat replied to SparkleCat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I never in a million years thought I would freak out about losing too much weight! Honestly, I have used my weight as a literal buffer or barrier to my life, while it stopped me from being healthy and fully living, it was also my protection...my built in excuse to avoid vulnerability, hurt and true intimacy. Now that the physical barrier is gone, I think I am feeling exposed, scared and completely out of sorts While I don't want to be too physically skinny, I think the majority of my fear and concern is that, for the first time in 40 some odd years, I have no excuse to hide from life and I'm not quite sure how to relearn a new, more healthy way, of relating to the world -

You used to avoid looking in mirrors, now you can't stop staring at your reflection in not only mirrors, but windows as well, not because you're vain (well, maybe a little), but because you're shocked that smaller person is actually you! -
Now I know BMI is basically BS...but I am still a little giddy that, for the first time ever, I am now a "normal" BMI...not obese, not overweight....but Normal. This is all still so crazy to me! Normal!! Never thought I would see it!

Normal! For the first Time Ever!

not a great photo...but best I can do by myself in the office I definitely have some loose skin...but I'll take it! -
I did it! Finally hit the elusive 150 lbs! In every diet program I have ever attempted, they asked that I pick a goal weight and I always threw out "150 lbs". I have never, not once, actually made it. The lowest I got was 180 after 3 months of HCG (which, of course, I gained right back) But after the sleeve...in 5 months I have lost 81 pounds and finally saw that 150 number! I am thinking I might try to lose 5-10 more lbs just to get solidly in a "normal" BMI...but if I don't, I am okay with my size 8 jeans, size medium shirts and *150 POUNDS*!!!!

Help with my Hair!
SparkleCat replied to bolingpins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started losing hair at three months and now at six months I am noticing it coming back! I don't think anything prevents it or makes it come back but time. This is a photo from yesterday....3 months ago my hairline looked like my balding brother!. All the hair at my hairline is new and about 1 inch long -
XL Coats available in Denver
SparkleCat replied to SparkleCat's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yay!! I'm so glad! Enjoy them -
I have several XL coats available if anyone needs them. A ski coat, "puffy" coat (good for every day winter wear...not snow or frigid temps), a black shell, a hooded coat and a really nice brown coat from Orvis that I am actually pretty sad to lose...super warm, super comfy and way too big This is the only coat I may sell....bought it for $150, am going to ask $40 http://www.orvis.com/orvis_assets/prodimg/9E7KHMcoffee.jpg I will probably donate most or all, but thought I would see if any of you fine people need a smaller coat this winter! And, on that note! I am in search of size medium winter outerwear! While I am loving my weightloss, my pocketbook is screaming at me! I live in Denver, so a good ski coat and shell are required...but I just can't face the $200-$400 price tag!

How did you settle on a goal?
SparkleCat replied to roundisashape's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
All of my adult life I have been overweight...On every diet and every trip to weight watchers I have said my goal was 150...so that's what I put on my ticker. For the past month I have been between 150-154 (I saw 149.7 on the scale for a about an hour! ) Now that I am here, I think I want to lose about 10 more lbs if possible...this will put me solidly in the "normal BMI". I'm good if I don't, but it will be interesting to see what "Normal" looks like on me! My surgeon never said anything about a goal...I see him next week for my 6 month follow up and I am interested to see what he thinks of my progress and where I should go from here. I have hit so many "I've never been here before!" goals....size medium shirts, size 6 pants (even though this is probably vanity sizing), collar bones that show, crossing my legs and having my calves touch....I have discovered that these small goals felt better than seeing the elusive 150 on the scale! -
I had VSG in April, and while I want to lose about 10 more lbs, I really did lose 80+ pounds pretty quickly (in 5 months). <TMI Alert!!> In the past few days I have noticed my poop is now a pale color and I have had minimal intermittent pain in my upper right belly. Of course, I googled both of these and saw they can be a sign of gallstones...add rapid weight loss, being a woman of 45, on the max dose of cholesteral meds and wls, and it seems I am a prime candidate for gallstones When I had surgery, my surgeon, of course, checked my gall bladder and it was good...no issues, but now I am wondering if it's becoming an issue. I have my 6 month check up next week, so I will definitely ask, but wanted to know if any of you had gallstones pop up *after* surgery and losing weight? How was it diagnosed, what were your symptoms and did you have to have surgery for it? Thanks ahead of time for any insight into gallstones and the relation to wls and rapid weight loss!

SparkleCat replied to SparkleCat's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sorry! Yes, they are! I put them aside for you but have totally dropped the ball on looking up postage (this is why I could never be an ebay seller!!) I will explore the USPS site now, though, because of work, I don't think I could get to the post office until Saturday. Will touch base shortly -

Hi Jen! I have attached pictures here! A lot if black, big it goes with everything the ski coat is purple, not over the top, and definitely better than the picture shows....I may retake during the daytime. I have no idea on postage costs, but will do a little research tomorrow. Let me know if any of them might work for you! -
I thought y'all were exaggerating! FREEZING!
SparkleCat posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last winter I was getting ready for my April surgery...I remember everyone talking about how cold they were...I didn't really believe you...until Now! First chilly days and I am SO cold! Wearing fleece, drinking hot tea, took a hot shower and it's only 45 degrees out! Who knew 80 pounds provided so much insulation! -
