November Surgery Dates Anyone? Let's Connect!
carriekos replied to Dabliss111114's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
When I had the lap band surgery, got sick (in hospital for a week) and the removal of lap band, I lost about half my hair and my hair was thick. It is just now growing back and to think that I'm going to lose it again is killing me. -

November Surgery Dates Anyone? Let's Connect!
carriekos replied to Dabliss111114's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I just got the call Thursday that I have been approved by surgery, I'm scheduled for Nov. 17th. I'm excited and really scared. You see, in January, I had lap band surgery, got severely sick two weeks later and an infection at the port that spread to the band. I had to have the band removed end of March. After months of recovery and getting healthy again I qualified for a bypass. I'm just afraid of something going wrong again. -
Had to have my band removed end of march. NY port was infected and had to have the whole band removed.

January's 2014 Bandsters Welcome!

I am jealous of all the January Bandsters. My surgery was Jan. 21 and on March 24 I had to have it removed. The port was infected and started to spread. I MIGHT be able to get the band again in 3 months, my other choice is bypass. No other options. I'm pissed, all that money all that pain for nothing. Congratulations to all of you that are making it work for you. -
I had my surgery 6 weeks ago. Today, I found out My port has caused an infection inside and needs to be removed after infection goes away. Then I have to wait several weeks and have a new port put in, in a different location. Has this happened to anyone else?

I think my band is rejecting me. I still have severe gas pain in my shoulder, which makes it hard to breath. -
I was just in the hospital for a week was a serious case of gastrointestinal infection. I was pumped with 30# of fluid by the time I left. When I left on Friday my surgeon told me to stick with the mushy food for another week.

Holy indigestion! Feels like a heart attack
carriekos posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still on mushy food and I ate roasted garlic with my mashed potatoes tonight. I now have such indigestion that I think I'm having a heart attack. I've walked the house since 10:30 and the pain in my stomach is unbearable. I keep burping but no relief. I took gasx at 10:30 and 2 chewabl//pepsid around 12:30 and still no relief. Help! -

Port area still sore
carriekos replied to Shelly2221's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shelley, I'm right there with you. 1 1/2 weeks out and the port site (mid stomach) and the band site (under left boob) are tender and make it difficult to bend over. My husband thinks it is just all the nerve endings healing on the inside. I see the Dr. on Tuesday and will see if this is normal. -
I was banded by Dr. Marley on Jan. 21. Still have some gas pain in my shoulder and soar at the port site. Nate said that this is all normal and will take a couple of days to weeks. Started my mushy food on Monday. My stomach keeps moaning saying "feed me", but I'm doing ok with it.

I was banded on the 21st and got the go ahead yesterday to mushies. I had a meatball for dinner and it was so good. Next week solid foods! WooHoo! Oh and since Jan. 8 when I started my pre-op diet to today lost 13.5# 4.5# away from onederland. -

I am sitting here now 6 days post-op enjoying a little bit of heaven...a scrambled egg. Aaaah, to be in the mushies stage is wonderful. I feel like I've made it through to the "lite' side now. -
I was banded on the the 21st and still have the rolling gas pains. When I burp it actually hurts at first then I feel some relief. I actually slept in my own bed last night instead of the recliner. Also no pain meds to help me.

I just figured it out- the gas is making me so bloated that I can't get down more than a couple sips. So relieved cause I was beginning to think it was my band. Even with walking and gas x, the bloating is so bad that I'm miserable. I have my husband and daughter on "back chop" duty and that's helping a lot. I feel the same way. The bloating with the already gas is so uncomfortable. -

I was banded Tuesday. The pain in my shoulder has gone but the gas is still there, just not as much. I have been walking laps in my house and swinging my left arm. Dr. just called me and he said to take some milk of magnesium to help with the girgling in my stomach. -

Feeling better today. Gas pain has subsided greatly. Was able to eat some watery oatmeal today. Still feel a lot of gas rolling around in my stomach.
