About Me
I'm excited to be joining Bariatric Pals. My weight loss surgery journey was a bit unexpected. I had always been about 15-25 lbs. heavier than I should have been in my teens-20's but was healthy because of being an athlete. Once my college athletic career was over I struggled to manage my weight. I was successful several times in dropping weight but could never keep up the low calorie diet and manic exercise plan needed to maintain the weight loss.
In my mid 30's I began struggling with hormonal issues, crippling migraines, uncontrollable sugar cravings, and significant weight gain. Again I struggled to find answers until I began working for a bariatric practice. I had walked into the office interested in their medical weight loss program and ended up applying for a job. I began working in the office July 2012 and after 4 months of learning everything I could about the different procedures, picking my doctors brain about every detail, and meeting amazing successful patients, I decided that weight loss surgery was a great option for me.
My doctor and I decided on the SLEEVE, so on Feb. 1, 2013 I had my surgery. It is almost one year later and I have lost 80lbs. The surgery itself went smoothly and I have been ecstatic with my progress. Slow and steady has been my motto and although I am not at my goal, I know I will make it.
