I have been nauseated since my surgery jan. 16, I feel like I have a rock stuck at the base of my throat and another inside my stomach. I don't know what to do. If I eat or drink anything, even water, it hurts. They have done a ct scan and everything looks fine internally. Does anybody have any ideas?

Body fortress is the new one I can stomach. 42g protein per can and they taste good. Buy pre made if you struggle with consistency. Trial and error is the best way unfortunately. GNC will let you return an open container if it's gross with the receipt. I also like one in a black and pink container made for women at GNC but I can't remember what it's called.

CONSTIPATION EVEN WTH LAXATIVE,SENNA AND DUCOLACE STOOL SOFTENERS AND PLENTY OF TWALKING AND FLYIDS. 1 MTH POST OP
melissabeauty replied to hinesbj's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I feel your pain I'm 2 years post op and still struggle. I have been hospitalized a couple times for it. I recently found using young living essential oils internally really helps. They are approved for internal use and I use 2 drops digize in a capsule with coconut oil melted to fill the capsule once a day. I am actually on a routine and off all prescription laxatives that weren't working very well. I also add 2 drops either lemon, orange, or peppermint to help the burps not be so gross, but I will take gross burps for an hour over the pain of constipation any day lol. I hope you find what works for you. -
Had my Rue-n-y in January. At this point I am able to eat and drink pretty normal. However all my hair is falling out. I went from thick hair to now you can see my scalp and actual bald spots. I am taking biotin. What else can I do? Thank everyone in advance.

serious complications 3months post op...HELP!
melissabeauty replied to TashaB88's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had a problem with everything I tried to drink. I spent the greater portion of the first 3 months in the hospital. All of the dr's were puzzled and couldn't figure it out. I kept getting ulcers. Then my nutritionist suggested I try cutting out all water and only drinking milk, so I did and it worked!!!! If you think about it though babies stay hydrated on only milk, so why couldn't I? Anyways I am now 1 yr post op down 98 lbs and have avoided hospitals for 6 months now. I am slowly being able to introduce other liquids but I have found it has to have something I can digest. It may not work for you... But maybe it will. I wish you the best of luck! Things will get better as your body learns what the heck happened and adjusts. -
Need help. My body went down to the weight I had been for many years and just stopped. I lost 60lbs in the first 3months and nothing in the next 3 months. How to I overcome this? I have tried bumping up my protein and how many steps I get each day. I am still only able to eat1/4-1/3 cup of food at each sitting. I still can't drink water but I stay hydrated on milk 4 cups daily. Any ideas or suggestions? I just want to move a little more. I still have 50 lbs to loose according to my surgeon. Thank you for your time.

Thank you everyone for your advice. No I also drink a 20oz protein shake along with my 4 cups of milk.

I don't know what to do to be able to start losing again. I was only eating 300 cal after my surgery and lost 30 lbs in the first month, they finally get me to where I can keep something down and I stop losing?!?!? How is it that eating 900 cal a day causes me to maintain weight and not lose! 300 cal is not enough to sustain life or proper brain function, but any more and I can't lose anything? Anybody have any ideas? I am lost...oh and I can only drink milk for fluids, water hurts and makes me upchuck so that is how I am getting my cal everyday. I am still only eating two 1/4 cp meals a day.

Why have i stopped lossing?
melissabeauty replied to melissabeauty's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My doc wants me on 1000cal a day and 60 gr protein. I am getting my protein in and not quite enough cal, bit def more than I had been. I am close to my targets daily, only going over on protein, never on cals. -
I am currently almost 2 months out and I found a trick that works for me. I can drink milk, no water it hurts! Everything has made me so sick for the past 2 months I have been admitted 4 times for dehydration, possible stricture, and ulcer. I did develop an ulcer but every other test came back fine. My nut. Is the one that suggested I replace water with milk since it hurt and I was only able to get 20 oz and was so sick constantly up chucking. So I tried it for one week, I am still taking my nausea meds, but I can eat! Of course it is half what they say I should be able to, but the sick feeling is getting better. I just wanted to share and hopefully it will help you. I know how horrible that is and the constant pain and sick feeling was making me hate my decision, but now it is getting better. I hope you feel better soon.

The Slow Losers Thread
melissabeauty replied to Mid West's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having too large if a stomach can cause very little or no weight loss because your body never thinks you are feeding it and it kicks into starvation mode, which is all together a bad mode for your body. I would try switching it up and do 2 weeks of the puréed foods( try not to eat carbs, or keep them only one meal and very small) and protein drinks (at least 70grams daily) and see if you start back up getting ride of those lbs. hopefully they won't have to go back in and recreate a smaller stoma. However If that is what they feel needs to get done, then I wish you the best of luck and hopefully whichever way it goes you stay strong and lose on!!!! -

I use either gourmet pro or high 5. They can only be bought at max muscle, but I think you can order online if you don't have a store local. P.S. The gourmet pro smell like fish feet lol so plug your nose when you make it. But it tastes really good and have all the vitamins and minerals you are missing out on by not eating real food. I also use the nectar protein because it tastes like juice and I love juice. And the nectar plain tames down gross protein flavors lol. -

The protein I the most important. If I get at least 80 grams a day I will loose a little. If I get less than 60 I won't loose a thing. Also the protein is what gives you energy and helps prevent hair loss. I know it can be hard. But I make one shake that is 50 grams of protein and gag it down before I can eat anything else. I take my time and hold my breath but the faster I get done with that the sooner I can eat something yummy like eggs, yogurt, or turkey burger. Those butterball turkey burgers are 31 grams of protein and I can have half for lunch and half for dinner. Also I have discovered through research that the ones who had to fight to loose anything and took longer, actually kept the weight off. While the ones who's body melted over night ended up gaining most of it back. So that is what keeps me positive for my long term success. It isn't about how fast I loose, so long as it comes off and stays off!!! You can do it just remember the tortious and the hare ???? -
I'm having a lot of problems. of sure if anybody.else had the same problems

I too have been getting nauseous an having a difficult time getting water and proteins in. I should be able to eat soft foods now but I have to wait 1:30 between drinking and I just can't do that if I want to come close to half my daily water intake. I went in to the ER at a week out for abdominal pain but everything was ok internally, I was just dehydrated. However I have started feeling the same way again, but I don't want to go in just for fluids. I don't understand why I keep getting sick to even look at water or smell food. -

melissabeauty replied to mizznickie13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just remember after surgery you can't have coffee anymore. You will get dehydrated and end up in the ER if you do. Max pro makes a great tasting coffee flavored protein. -
Any January 2014 Surgeries?
melissabeauty replied to MekeC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry I am an emotional wreck too. Cried the other day while I was talking to my daughter about how people need privacy. Just started bawling told her to ignore my tears, but seeing mommy cry made her cry. Big hot mess now!!!! My sister was like that after her surgery for a few months, but it went away. -

melissabeauty replied to MekeC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is anyone else still in a lit of pain and worn out feeling? I am only 2 weeks post op, but my sister says most people are feeling better by now. I am trying to find out if maybe I should go to the doc or is it normal? I am walking fine, but it hurts to get up and down, and can't bend from side to side. -
Post op protein.
melissabeauty replied to mizznickie13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one week post op and I am using new whey protein shots 3.79 fl oz 42gm protein. It doesn't taste to great, kinda like strawberry syrup, but I can get it down fast and meet my protein goal daily. I am currently nauseated by the sight of food, so I get creative on bumping protein without having to eat much at all lol. Also adding egg whites is a trick my sister taught me about. Or Greek yogurt, protein powder, and egg whites you can get 52gm in 1cp yogurt and it tastes good. -
I just had my surgery on the 16th of Jan. It took me 8 months to lose my 10 lbs before surgery, and 8 lbs on my 2week liquid. I was wondering if anyone else is having any problems not wanting to eat?!?!? I never thought I would be fighting to finish 1 protein shake in an entire day!!! I feel like I am drinking all day and and not even at 30oz water and 8oz protein. Does anybody have any ideas??? or the same struggles??

Any January 2014 Surgeries?
melissabeauty replied to MekeC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
She would've seen it when she started the case and it would have been fixed either way. Sometimes they forget the little stuff because they know they will see it when checking around and can just fix it then. I know because I am a certified surgical tech which means I work hand in hand with surgeons during procedures. They always look around. But forgetting to add that to the pre-op paperwork is completely normal. Good luck with your surgery.
