I used to be HOT ALL the time before surgery. I hated it. I'm a CNA, and nursing student, and it's really embarrassing when you're the only one always sweating. So I guess I'm happy that I'm always cold now. Yeah, sometimes I'm like hot sh!t I'm so c old my feet and hands are going to be icicles, but for now, I'm loving it. Besides doing some kind of workout I haven't broken a sweat since maybe a week out two after surgery, and I couldn't be happier. I used to sweat just getting ready in the morning. Gross!

Any February 2014 Sleevers?
Sarahjane79 replied to honeyg317's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm so glad you're both fine! Cars can be fixed, sometimes people can't be... I love me some old navy. And the gap outlet. And I'm so excited for this summer. Both places have such cure stuff and fun colors! I've bought 3 hoodies, mint green, kinda a bright tiffany blue, and a coral one. Im totally obsessed with these colors right now! They're all an xxl, but I havent been able to buy a zip up hoodie from there in probably 3 or 4 years! They fit, but are just "snug" enough that they look fine now, but I should be able to wear them for a minute yet. I'm much more excited that it colors though, and not black. Haha. And I love shopping for my friends kids there, oh man. SUCH cute stuff! -
Any February 2014 Sleevers?

Oh, Jen! That's terrible and awesome all at the same time! And honestly, I wasn't able to ever wear anything but either than size 18 or 20 old navy jeans, or plus size (which never worked for me) so I guess it'll be interesting to see how that works now. -
Yup. While I was still on pain meds I would get hot flashes. I think it's just the anesthesia and pain meds in our system still, cause I'm freezing alllllllll the time now!

How long it took you guys to decide to have wls?
Sarahjane79 replied to re14768's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought about it and mentioned it to my dad in October and he was against it so I didn't think about it again until my bff told me she was having it done when I saw her in November, I went to the seminar December 5, had my consult December 26, surgery February 19. So not long at all. -

Any February 2014 Sleevers?

Looking good! That's so awesome!! I think I went from maybe a size 28 (I actually haven't bought pants other than yoga pants in a couple years) and I'm almost a 20, maybe. I had a pair of red 5 right fit jeans that I tried on the other night and they were way too big. And after some googling I think they were the equivalent of a 22. So I'm thinking maybe I'm not far from a 20, and hopefully a pair of jeans from old navy! -
How long did you take off work for your VSG?
Sarahjane79 replied to pattyor's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im a student. I had surgery on a Wednesday, the day before my spring break started. So I had 12 days off. But I probably could have actually gone back right on Monday, if it weren't for break. It all depends on the person, really. I'm a fairly fast healer, so I knew only having a week and a half off would be fine. Granted, I pulled the healing muscles a week after surgery, and that actually set me back a bit. In fact im 5.5 weeks out and the incision is still bothering me. But besides that, I've been pretty good since the weekend after surgery. -

I know that I can't have nuts until at least 8 weeks, if not even farther out. Although I have been reeeeeeal tempted to eat a few anyeays, just chew em really good. I'm just too scared. Haha. So. Question guys. Nausea. I've had it bad the last 2 days. Especially when I take sips of something. Haven't really had any nausea of any kind, until Wednesday. Should I put a call in to my doc tomorrow, or wait it out over the weekend? I'm already only getting 20 MAYBE 30 oz of liquids in in a day, this has made it harder. The weird part is, I don't really get it when I eat. Although I did tonight while eating my before bed snack. I dunno. Just annoying. -
2 nights. I would have gone home the next day, but I wasn't comfortable because I had some pain and spasms when I would drink. Didn't want to get unhooked from the iv, go home and not be able to drink. So I asked to stay another nighy. Glad I did. But I pretty much slept or walked the whole 2 days. I didn't even ever turn my tv on. I was also allowed ice chips right away, so I didn't have toooooooo bad of dry mouth. They also told me that gas x wouldn't work, as it won't get rid of the gas in my abdominal cavity anyways.

Nutritionist necessary?
Sarahjane79 replied to Fuff's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I couldn't imagine going through all of this without the help of a nutritionist. It definitely won't hurt. -
I took a pillow, extra pair of undies and pair of comfy pants, slippers, phone charger and ipad. I touched my ipad once, didn't use any of the extra clothes, or slippers. I wore home what I wore there. I would have been fine waking in with my clothes, phone, phone charger, and pillow. They'll have anything else you need. They also also wouldn't let me have any gas x strips while in the hospital.

Post-Op Shopping List
Sarahjane79 replied to CAinSB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your tastes also change after surgery, so I wouldn't stock up on too much of anything (especially Protein powder) because you might not like the stuff after surgery. Happened to me with Protein powder. -
Biotin isn't going to prevent your hair from falling out. It will help the hair you have, and what gross back to be healthier and stronger.
-
Yes! I cut it with water, and it made it "okay" but it was still terrible and still makes me want to gag thinking about it. Terrible.
-
I tried the watermelon one from Walmart and just thinking about it makes me want to throw up. Barf.
-
Same! I had to have a nurse wipe me the first time I peed! Although it was my first time out of bed and I was so drugged up I didn't even know how to live, basically. Hahaha. I found a way around it the next time, because I wasn't about to have a poor tech wipe my girly bits. Haha. But really. There is no humility in on a hospital. None.

That sounds amazing! I really need to remember to buy an avocado the next time I go to the store.
