I was told yesterday, that I can use em all I want during the 2 week liquid diet(duh, ha) but then to wait at least 3 weeks AFTER surgery to try and use them again. He basically said if it'll make me happy, use em, but that it might actually cause some discomfort.

I know, it's amazing. Although, since I am still waiting for approval from my ins, I'm just waitin for the other shoe to drop. Haha. Although I've talked to bcbs so many times that I know I won't get denied. It's just until there is approval.... -

Had my pre op appt today, and now I'm ready to do this thing. I'm even more excited than I was before! I learned so many creative ways to get my protein. A good tip my NUT gave us was to buy vanilla or unflavored protein powders, because then you can doctor them to be ANY flavor you want. Like, you could take vanilla, decaf coffee, and drink it hot, iced, or blended. Or add SF chocolate syrup to one. Or make em fruity with jello. Or add either flavor to pudding. So many great ideas! If I didn't want to still get some yummy foods in over the weekend, that I won eat for a long time/if ever, I'd start now! -
Protein protein protein!

I had my pre op appointment today, and my NUT said the best proteins to buy are either vanilla or unflavored, because you can doctor those 2 up to basically be whatever you want with the help of crystal light, jello, decaf coffee, SF choc syrup, etc. But I tried unjury today, the strawberry sorbet and it was pretttttty delicious. -
February/March 2014 sleevers

True that. I guess I am a bit nervous about that. I only 13 days off as of the day I have surgery, before I go back to school. (I'm doing it just before my spring break) so I do worry I'll be tired and all that to go back. And the pain. But I seem to be a really fast healer, so I'm hoping this goes the same way. I'll have to take a look at that! -

I tried this over the weekend and it was pretty good. My friend mixed it with a little bit of vanilla soy milk and Water. http://www.gnc.com/GNC-Pro-Performance-AMP-Amplified-Wheybolic-Extreme-60-Chocolate/product.jsp?productId=3513370&cp=3593187.2108294 Pricy, but tasted good. -

That's how I felt when I went to my consult in December and set my surgery for February 19. And now I'm only 21 days away! Time is flying! -
No one resells single protein RTD drinks?
Sarahjane79 replied to niassy151's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I'm with you on this one. Why can I buy sample packets of powder, but I have to buy 400 RTD ones, on the chance that they turn out terrible. -
I thought so too, but when I googled it, everything says lapband.
-
I'm pretty sure after I said we should all move on, it was done. Until you ladies sparked it up again. Let's all drop it!
-
Actually, I googled it after reading your comment. There are TONS of articles where she talks about her lap band and how it made her sick., and that after she removed it she gained weight, that's what made her do Atkins. She's been plenty open about it all. Hell, she's open about EVERYTHING in her life. But ok.
-
She's pretty open about her lapband, and has had it removed.

I know you weren't singling me out. I just wanted to clarify for myself. And same here. My mom was a professor at a local university and taught diversity in the US, and did a lot of work for the NAACP, an all sorts of ethnic groups. She got some recognition from Jennifer granholm (ha!) way back when.
-
Just to clarify. I never intended to start sh!t, and I never called her racist. Just said what/how she worded her sentence SOUNDED racist. I think we can all move on here...
-
I'm perfectly calm. Just sounded reeeeeal racist is all.

Unless you're colored?? Are we in the 1960's again?

Lying about Weight Loss Surgery !
Sarahjane79 replied to sarahzamudio1091's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally get not wanting to tell anyone up front. I am the opposite, because it am just so damn excited. What I don't get is when someone asks how you're losing weight, that you don't tell them. Yes, we're eating less, blah blah blah, BUT the reason we are is because of surgery. Could we all eat less and lose weight before surgery? Sure. But we all obviously needed this drastic step to be able to actually do this for forever. It's a tool, but it's a MAJOR tool in our ability to change our life/diet for forever. But really, you do what you want. We're all different. -
Starting to panic
Sarahjane79 replied to Valerie R.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My day is February 19, too! But I don't have to start my diet until the 5th. I'm worried about the liquid diet a little too... But I'm actually just so excited to START this journey, that I'm exited to do the liquid thing. Hopefully I'll feel the same when I starting next week! Haha -
Recovery/ Time off
Sarahjane79 replied to LaurenB8604's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My day is February 19, and if I'm in he hospital 2 days, that gives me 11 days at home, before I go back to school (I'm a student), and I'm hoping that's enough. Everyone I've talked to ( and more importantly my doctor) have said that I should be perfectly fine, but will probably just be tired for the first week or two. I'm okay with that. I just need to make sure to get my Protein in, so I'm not too tired to miss class. I can't wait! -
I figure my 2 week liquid diet is detox enough for me. Lol. But I'm not so much just a carb lover. I'm an equal opportunity food lover. Lolz

When making tuna salad, what do you guys eat it on, or just alone? (I don't mind eating it alone, I do that sometimes when I make it, cause it's so good)
