    3 days post-op

I went home with the worst gas pains. The only thing that helped was moving. Walking. And when I'd have all the rumbles in my tummy I'd walk around and then go sit on the toilet and hope something would come out. Finally the morning after I came home, I was able to sit on the toilet and pass some gas. Gas x helped a little teeeeeny bit, but really, moving around is about the only thing to help it along.
  2. But why spend the money if you don't have to? I'd really just wait to see what the surgeon you're seeing wants to have you do
  3. Yup. That's what they (his nurse and him) told me. I just wasn't expecting it to get 10 times worse before it got better! Hah.
  4. Thanks for the replies! I'm thinking I'm just going to double my pain meds and hope for the best. The bottle says 15 ml every 4-6 hours. I'm just going to take 30 ml. I was taking 30 ml of it after surgery while in the hospital. He said to take motrin, which he said is a no no, right? I assume it's for the anti inflammatory aspect? Blah.
  5. I called my doctor. Apparently it's normal. I trust him so much, but I hung up and just cried. Ugggg. I just. I didn't imagine the pain would get worse before it gets better.
  6. I have a 2 week follow up appt on Tuesday... But at the rate I'm going, I'm not gonna make it. I can't move without busting out in tears. I got up to pee after posting this and it ended with me taking even more pain meds and laying on the couch in tears. It's miserable. I can't even touch my stomach without doubling over in pain. Waaaaaaaah. I hope you feel better!

    Just started liquids

I'm post op, and the best advise I can give you is to drink or get in as much Protein as possible. The more I was able to drink, the less hungry I was. I averaged 100-110 grams of protein a day. Definitely helped me to feel less hungry. And for me, the beginning was easiest for me. The last couple days were the hardest. Because at at the end all I could think of was that I could never "cheat" again or eat foods. I didn't cheap, but it was definitely harder at the end. Good luck guys!
  8. I'd wait to see what your surgeon wants done. The only test my surgeon wanted to do was an upper gi scope. No sleep test or anything. So it'd be a waste of money if you doc doesn't require it.

I was told I could, I just have to wait until 2 months out, when my stomach should be for sure healed.

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

I hope so!! And yeah. I scheduled surgery 2 days before spring break started, so I only missed 2 classes. I just don't want to miss any more.

    February/March 2014 sleevers

I hear ya! Basically as long as it's of the healthy/light variety and it doesn't have chunks in it, I can eat it. So I either strain it, or I've put it in my magic bullet to blend it. Those were directions from my nut. I'd prefer go blend it then strain it. Hah

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

The pain meds help some. I could get a doctors note, and I technically can miss the lab, it'd just be the only lab I can miss this semester. Plus I have my first lab practical exam wednesday, and the one monday is a review. Soooooo, yeah. Haha. I'm just hoping for the best. Worst case I can have my dad drive/pick me up. It's more the walking I'm worried about. Blah.

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

I thought I was outta the pain woods, so I decided to take a shower. I ended up basically crying through the whole thing. I'm freaking out about the fact I have lab on monday, and what if I can't go. Cause right now the only time I'm not in pain is if I'm sitting or laying down. I'm so mad at myself!

    February/March 2014 sleevers

I am able to have any kind if light, healthy request, heart healthy type soup as long as it doesn't have chunks/I strain it/blend it smooth. So I have a bunch of stuff like Progresso light Alfredo, light pot pie, etc. I've just strained or blended them. I've also been living on tomato soup. Add some Mrs dash garlic herb spice stuff and a little parmesean cheese and it's deeeeelish. My doc doesn't or hasn't said anything about sodium. I think it's cause we can't eat enough for it to matter. I've yet to go over the daily sodium amount on myfitnesspal.

Most places allow jello on a liquid diet because your body temp actually turns it back into liquid when you swallow it. That said, I've yet to be able to want to eat jello since surgery.

    February/March 2014 sleevers

Those are all things I am allowed on my liquid phase. I can also have yogurt. If you can find them, the no sugar added fudgcicles are delicious too! Almost felt like I was cheating. Hah.

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

Yes. I LOVE that site. I've been OBSESSED with it. And yeah, that ricotta bake dis sounds amazing. So many of her recipes do. I think she's amazing. Hah.

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

February 19. I'm on full liquids, but also yogurt and sf pudding. But I'm constantly looking for recipes and ideas for stuff I will be able to eat after my next nutrition class on the 10th.

    February/March 2014 sleevers

It was terrible. Definitely the worst pain and source of me questioning my decision for the first couple days. It was the best thing when I finally farted. Hahaha

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

I know not everyone is the same, but it's been totally helpful to me to almost obsessively search for recipes for stuff I will be able to eat on the soft food phase. I also did "cheat" tonight and made some oatmeal, but I did put it in the magic bullet to make it real smooth. It was nice for a change. I also only ate maybe 5 bites and felt "full". Or maybe satisfied is a better way to describe it. I just needed something besides soup, after the day I've had. Hah.

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

Yeah. I think I still have 2 steri strips hanging on. The rest have fallen off. I have one stitch left in the incision my drain was in. I assume it'll get removed Tuesday by the nurse at my 2 week appointment. And they're healing really good! The smaller ones are just like a scab. The 2 bigger ones are still tender, but they look good. Itchy. Hah but that's good. Means we're healing.

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

Yay to being home! I can get liquids (water and gaterdade g2) down pretty easily. Protein shakes and pudding and yogurt fill me up much faster, and the shakes gross me out. Lol I only struggle getting liquids in because I have no hunger or thirst, so I tend to forget, or I just don't want to. But I'd say I can easily drink 5-10 ounces of water/g2 in a few minutes. I've asked the nurse at my docs office and she said its fine, just that I'm healing a little faster than normal.
