    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

I use the eat slower app, and set it anywhere from a minute to 2 minutes depending on what I'm eating. If it's relatively soft and I don't have to chew it too much, I do a minute. If i have to chew it a lot, I start with a minute and a half and see how it feels, and sometimes I end up putting it to minute 45 or 2 minutes. Pretty much I just see how the first couple bites go, and adjust accordingly. I love the eat slower app.

So scared, someone calm me down

I'm 3.5 weeks out and I still take pain meds for my big incision. It hurts when I go to sit up from laying down, turning, pretty much anything except when I don't move. Hah. I still sleep on my couch cause I can't sleep comfortably in my bed yet.

I also have stairs in my house, and had zero problems going up and down them when I got home.

    February Sleevers.... Check in!

Same. But my pain is the actual incision itself, and today it started to feel like it was burning. I also searched it on here, and found It's normal, and my surgeons office said it's normal, so I'll just go with it. Mine hurts pretty much any time I move, bend funny, etc. The only time I have no pain is if I'm sleeping, or not moving a muscle. Hahaha.
  6. Since I had my dad bring me home in my car (I have an SUV and his car is real low to the ground) my car was at his house for over a week. I was totally fine not having it. I did have him take me to the store once in the time, though. After reading through this again, I see you need public transit. While I didn't or don't have that option where I live, I can't imagine I would have had an issue riding a bus or train. I would suggest having or getting or asking the surgeon for an abdominal binder. It's helpful regardless, but would be super helpful to have on a bouncy public transit ride. I used to live in Chicago, and If still did, I feel I wouldn't have had any problems riding the cta.
  7. I was basically alone. I have a roommate, but I didn't have any intention to ask her to help take care of me. I have stairs that I was fine going up and down the day after I got home. I did have my dad to go to the store for me, if i needed. But I was fine alone. I did wait almost a week to drive. I'm just over 3 weeks out and am still sleeping on my couch, as my big incision still hurts a lot and I've tried my bed and just couldn't get comfortable, or not hurt.

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

You're welcome! I have no serving size recommendation, as my nut said that everyone can eat different amounts. I basically make a serving size(or half depending on whatever it is) of whatever I'm eating, and go from there. I can make those meats and eggs into tuna, chix, or egg salad, but I can't add pickle relish. I can add pickle juice, just no relish. Other tips, you can use the Oikos Greek yogurt dips as a condiment on whatever, or even the low fat flavored cream cheese. Good luck!

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

My list is basically this: Tuna (with light mayo) Canned chicken(no other chicken, and light mayo) Cottage cheese Eggs (can make egg salad) Fish- baked, boiled, grilled, smoked Crab Lobster Shrimp or scallops Cheese (reduced fat varieties) Lunch meat sliced thin- Veggie burgers (morning start grillers prime are my favorite) Low fat chili Any beans- minus green beans same goes for lentil soups my favorites so far: take lunch meat and cut cheese stick in half, put some honey mustard and a tiny bit of mayo on meat, roll meat around cheese. YUM! I also really like the morningstar veggie stuff. The burgers and breakfast sausage. I also haven't had anything from the list that hasn't agreed with my new tummy, thank goodness. I love eggs still. Yay!

    February Sleevers.... Check in!

Yeah. I can't believe it still hurts either. But at 9 days out I did twist or step down too hard after putting my boot on, and re ripped some of the internal healing muscles or the internal suture. So I was thinking maybe I just set myself back a bit. But yeah. I have to take pain meds when I go out and about so I don't look funny wrenching in pain. Hah. But not a fan.

    Pain

I asked my surgeon about it on Monday. Pretty much told me it's normal and could hurt on and off for 6 months. being only 3 weeks out, I pray it doesn't last 6 months.

    February Sleevers.... Check in!

I was February 19. So it was 3 weeks out yesterday. I'm in the soft food stage. So soft fish, shrimp, tuna, canned chicken, lunch meat, etc. I have yet to find a food on my list that disagrees with my new tummy. With this stage I'm finally able to get my Proteins in. I'm also obsessed with minute maid light lemonade. Since I bought it, I've been able to get my fluids in finally as well. Only complaint is the biggest incision on my left side still hurts. A lot. Like, I still take pain meds for it often. I've asked my doc if it's normal, and apparently it is, unfortunately. Haven't started exercising yet. I have to call tomorrow to make any appointment with the physiologist. My NSV would be that my jacket doesn't feel like it's mine, cause its big. And my clothes feel bigger. I can walk up two flights of stairs at school without getting winded. And all the compliments I've gotten, mostly from my pcp who I haven't seen since a bit before surgery. All my friends and family are so supportive and happy for me, it's awesome. I'm down 37 lbs in 5 weeks, and I couldn't be happier. It's absolutely amazing, and I'm so glad I made this choice. All the healthy foods I've had the last few days have all tasted good, and I actually crave them, and not the shitty foods. It's amazing how it seems that the switch has been flipped in my brain.

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

I was able to start soft foods monday. The tuna salad I made and the tilapia I had while out to eat last night was amazing. So was the morningstar veggie burger I had today, and the lunch meat roll ups I'm having now. I was lucky if I was able to get half the amount of protein in before, and yesterday I actually met it, and today I got to 50 grams. I also spent $100 at the grocery store! But since I can barely eat anything, it'll all last me a while! Healthy eating is awesome, and I couldn't be happier that I did this. It's changed my whole outlook on food and how to eat. ♡

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

I was surprised greatest when my nut said that during the soft food stage, to NOT wait 30 min before, during, or after eating because right now there's not enough time in the day to get the necessary fluids in, unless you stay up all night. Hah. That will change when I get to the next and final phase. I went out to dinner tonight, and did just fine taking small sips while waiting for for and eating and after dinner. I also did amazing ordering dinner. Tilapia and veggies. Ate half the fish and half the veggies. Yum! It was nice to go out to dinner with my girlfriends again.

    February/March 2014 sleevers

Tomato soup is the only thing I've eaten in the last 2.5 weeks that I could still eat right now. I love tomato soup. A trick I've learned is put some garlic salt or Mrs dash garlic and herb, and a little parmesean cheese. Yum!

    3 weeks out...struggling!

You can handle these?? I drank one and almost barfed everywhere. It helped when I mixed it with equal part water, but I almost gag thinking about it now. Blech.

    2 weeks out

On my purée/soft food stage I can eat any soups. Before that I could eat any smooth(or strained) soups, as long as they were a light/heart healthy/healthy request variety. I ate/will still eat lots of tomato soup. If you're on purée stage, can you have tuna or canned chicken, and make some tuna salad? I started soft foods today, and made some tuna salad. It was amazing. I actually bought the packets or chicken of the sea makes cups that don't need to be drained, and I added some light mayo, a tiny bit of pickle relish (and pickle juice from the relish for flavor) and some onion and garlic powder, and a little mustard. So good! And after mixing all that up, it was pretty much puréed.

I did have about a day and a half of this, but it was while I was dealing with the awesome yeast infection I got.

    Biotin for hair loss?

As a hairstylist, I can tell you that biotin will NOT keep you from losing hair. It only helps hair grow be stronger and grow back stronger. Something like rogaine (however you spell it) or nioxin is going to be the types of things that MIGHT help losing hair.

    February/March 2014 sleevers

I have the same thing! It's getting better, but I usually just go try and pee every few hours, regardless if I feel I have to. Although lately it could be because I'm pretty dehydrated. But in the beginning it was pretty weird. I guess I'm just used to it now. Ha. But it was even like that in the hospital, even when hooked up to the IV, I never had the sensation.

    February/March 2014 sleevers

I have absolutely no desire to have candy of any kind. Chocolate, fruity, none of it. All the stuff you eat before and after surgery are so sweet, that I got over it real quick. I want savory and salty now! Hah.
