Excuse my ignorance, I'm really new at this...but what are the 'band rules'? I've been reading through posts by people who have been successful during their first 6 months with the band, and several of them said that they accomplished their amazing weight loss by "following the band rules." Are these rules different than 'regular' dieting or healthy eating? Or is this the same thing as not 'eating around the band'? Am I missing something? Thanks!

Josie, Thanks for the follow-up! I am doing okay. Still feel kind of 'weird' and filled with gas, if that makes any sense. But I feel better each day.

I LIVE IN: Somerset County New Jersey (and absolutely love it) OCCUPATION(S): Attorney AVOCATION(S): Travel! And I want to get into something local (and cheaper). I'm planning on taking a pottery class this fall.

And now just over 24 hours! I'm excited, still not scared yet. But I know it tends to creep up on me. In some way it's like a dream, I can't believe the day is here already. I can't wait to start this journey.

Thanks, josie. Actually, I am being banded on Friday. :clap2: As you can imagine, I have been living on this website for the last month. Trying to absorb all I can before the big day. of course, I know this is a lifetime learning process...

Ha! If only. My Sydney (cutest Wheaten Terrier you've ever seen) loves me to death, and never argues with me. Yet, I long for a man in my life again. I haven't had a 'real' date in so long, I feel like I won't even know how to act anymore. I am being banded on Friday, and I must admit that one thing I am reaaalllyy looking forward to in the upcoming months is getting that male attention which once used to come so freely (and which I completely took for granted). For some reason, fat isn't in vogue this season. Health? Of course. It's the most important. But the man thing is important too! :whoo:

Thanks Lottie. Yesterday I stumbled across a thread specifically called before and after where hundreds of people posted their before and after pictures. I can't find it now. The 'gallery' only has a few pictures.

Hi GreatDame, I was just skimming through the boards, and came across this post you wrote more than a year ago. I had to respond simply because your post then sounds exactly like who I am now. How has your life changed over the last year? I hope that you have evolved into the person you wanted to become, and are now "participating in life." I am scheduled to be banded this Friday and I look forward to feeling like a woman again who can actually attract a man again, and who wants to be around people.

I'm in! I've always been crazy, and I definitely ate, and ate, AND ate! :biggrin1: I'm scheduled to be banded this Friday August 31. :clap2: Getting kind of emotional. Not nervous or scared, just emotional. :straight Anyway, happy to be a Crazy Ate and have a whole bunch of people to take this journey with.

I am having surgery on that date. :clap2: Unfortunately I don't really have anybody supporting me on this or anyone to talk to about it: my mom knows I'm having the surgery but does really understand why I want to, and I've decided not to tell anyone else. :straight It would be great to connect with someone else out there having surgery around the same time so we could support each other and kind of go through this thing together.

I live in Somerset Cty, but am willing to travel throughout the state. Do you know of any places in Jersey?
