Spring Into Action Weight Loss Challenge
darr5380 replied to renewedhope's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Renewed, that is fabulous!!!!! You are doing so well. I am not, but I am happy. I went for an unfill a few weeks back and gained about 5 pounds. I also hired a trainer and he is kicking my butt. So far I have lost the 5 pounds I gained plus another pound. To date I am at 173. I am really okay with this because I was so tight and now I fell normal. Keep up the good work. -

I thought I had lost this thread forever, it was hard to find. I am down 2 pounds today. It has taken me a while. Lost my momentum for a bit. I'll keep going, need 14 more pounds to go, AHhh. -
Renewed, thanks for starting the next challenge, I always gain 4lbs during TOM.

Another wonderful challenge that I want to join. Here are my stats: Darr5380 176 160 0 16 I hope I gave you the information correctly, I'm not that techy. -
Happy Green Day to all!!!! Just weighed in at 176, so happy I surpassed my goal by 4 pounds. I cannot believe it:lol:.
-
That's the best feeling. Way to go, Georgia. We're almost there.
-
Georgia, that is a good way to detox. I know the low carb way of life very well. I am the same way with sweets, just can't eat them or else that is all I want. Hope you get back on track soon. You will.
-
How do you detox? I think I need to sometimes. Not now, though, I feel tight. Is this the "sweet spot" everyone talks about? Out of nowhere, I am tight and began to lose weight quicker. In the past two and a half weeks I have lost 10lbs. I'm glad to lose the weight, but it has been annoying that I can't eat much of anything. My shakes are hard to get down in the morning. Again, not complaining, but a little nervous there may be problems.
-
I am down to 179 thanks to a stomach bug I got this morning. Yuck!!!!! I am glad to hear your scale moved, renewed.
-
YAY!!!! I made my goal this morning, I weighed in at 180. I'm going all the way to the the 17th and maybe 5 more pounds will come off. This has been the most weight loss since I was banded. Good luck to everyone, we still have 12 more days.
-
We still have 12 more days to go, we can do this. Our bodies need a few days to catch up with the weight-loss. We're doing great. Today I woke up at 182. My goal was 180 and I can't believe I am almost there. I have never made my goal with weight. How great is this!!!!! We're in it together. Don't feel bad about crappy eating, I do it when I get nervous. Oh well...

I am down to 184. I am so excited. I have to say this is my fasted weight loss period. I measure and weigh every six weeks and usually drop my weight toward the end of the six weeks. My six weeks period began last Friday. Amazing!!!!!! Luck to everyone.........
-
Very good, Georgia!!!! It's so nice to see results and half way there is a big deal. I haven't had a fill since a week after Thanksgiving and I go from feeling restriction to not restricted. What is it that causes us to feel restriction if we haven't had a fill recently? I am happy to feel this unexpected restriction, but a little worried it could spell trouble. FYI, it is the week before my period. Do any of you get this way?
-
So excited!!! I am down to 186 from 189.5 this morning. I have conquered my 3lb loss for this week and its only been a few days. I do have to say I have been very restricted since I did a spin class yesterday morning. Nothing but liquids seems to go down. I was grumpy about that, but not anymore. I am going to keep this up!!!!!!
-
Good for you, Georgia Girl!!!!!! I was never a believer in the plateau and Bam 3lbs gone, until it happened to me and now thats usually how it works for me. Again, way to go.:tt2:

I hope you can find some inspiration and encouragement here. Whenever I stay away form these boards I am usually screwing up on this banded journey. I also have had those days or weeks that I eat off band lifestyle, hence the slower weight loss, but I get back on track as soon as I can. For me, exercise has made a big difference on my mental well being. I no longer exercise to lose weight only. I have to do it to feel good so I don't find comfort in Krispy Kremes. Love them!!!! Currently my restriciton is usually tight in the a.m and less restriction after 7 ish. As much as I would love to eat pizza and a hamburger I can't pass it, gets stuck and hurts, so I stay away. Not saying I am the poster child for lap banders.... Here is a suggestion that has kept me in check or at least my slip ups are not for weeks at a time. Usually a few days of sucky eating right before my menstrual time. Every 6 weeks I weigh and measure myself. Some months I lose 6 lbs and a few inches and other months I only lose 3 lbs and lots of inches. This 6 week period I only lost 3 lbs and 1.5 inches. Sucky 6 weeks but I will take it. Get yourself a pocket notebook and write down your neck, upper chest, bust, upper waist, lower waist, hips, thigh, calf, foot arch, bicep, forearm, and wrist measurements. Measure yourself every 6 weeks and weigh yourself. Remember sometimes we won't lose weight but will drop inches and that matters too. I want you to feel successful, once you notice the off scale victories you will feel better. Here's to you, :tt2:

I love this new challenge!!!! I would love to join in. I already have the light bulbs covered. I am a little late to join you, but will do my best. I haven't been on the boards in a while. Day of Surgery weight: 215 Current weight: 189.5 St. Patty's Day weight: 180

My face looks thinner. People are telling me I'm skinny. (I'm really not) I'm down from a tight 18 to a 16, a little snug though. My tops are an XL instead of 1x or 2x I can now run 2 miles effortlessly and I don't need pain meds afterwards No longer drink beer or sodas, okay maybe the occassional wine. I just feel so much better and happier.

I am down 19 lbs since surgery on Sept 21. Initially I didn't lose anything and was battling hunger. I got my first fill 7 weeks after surgery and restriction lasted only 2 weeks. I got a second fill the Tuesday after Thanksgiiving. I had some restriction, then about a week ago it really kicked in and now I have to be really careful or I will PB. I am happy finally because for a while I thought this was another weightloss attempt I had failed at. It took 2 months after surgery for me to lose weight and inches. I was feeling discouraged because I was going to the gym everyday and doing everything right. I guess for some it just takes a while. Presently it seems that I lose a half pound every other day. I hope this helps those of you having a difficult time with the loss.
-
:whoo:That is wonderful. My two months will be on the 21st. I have only lost about 17 lbs, but have lost more inches than I expected. I hope to be under 200 soon. I started at 219 and am now 202. I had my first fill about two weeks ago and now I feel like I might need another. i'll wait after Thanksgiving. :clap2:Happy for you!!

I had to respond to this post immediately. Okay, I was banded 9-21 and was in bandster hell about a week and a half later. I was so upset because I just knew this band was not working for me. I contacted the patient coordinator and she told me I would not be getting any fills soon and I needed to do my part in eating properly and that a fill would not dictate whether orn not I would lose weight. Geez! I thought, then why would I have this surgery in the first place. About a week later I ran in to my surgeons wife and explained what I was feeling which was lots of hunger and not the head hunger. I explained to her that my old habits had sometimes gotten the best of me. She said I needed a fill, so she talked to her husband and he promptly saw me. He asked a few questions like how much weight loss and how often I was eating and ehat type of hunger. He said it was time for a fill. I informed him I was 5.5 weeks post op and he said that's fine, its perfect timing. I got my first fill last week and I feel wonderful, back in control again. I suggest you talk to your surgeon or go to another one who will listen. I know how you feel. It will feel better after a fill.
-
It is definitely much harder than I expected. I am alos curious about pouch stretching. I did not get any saline put in with my surgery, so I just figured it was normal to be this hungry after the swelling went down. I imagine our band is loose right now, so more room for food. I sure hope I get restriction after fill. Sometimes I feel like I overeat, resulting in shoulder pain. I hope things get better.
-
I thought I was the only one that felt this way. I am 4 weeks post op and my old habits have reared their ugly head. I asked about a fill and the patient coordinator said I wouldn't know this early if I need a fill or not. I was wondering if any of you have scheduled a fill yet. The earliest for me would be after week 7 and only after I have been on my "lifestyle diet" I am very frustrated because I feel like I do need restriction to be successful. I lost 10 lbs the first 2 weeks and have gained back 5lbs. Ugh! Is this normal?
-
I completely understand the negative past dieting thoughts. I tell myself I will not weigh every morning and there I am... In the the raw weighing in before my shower. My hardest critic told me today I look like I was losing weight and how proud of me she was. I can't see it yet especially since the scales says I have gained 4 lbs from the 10 I lost. I know it will come, but I want it now. Keep us posted, I don;t get filled until 2nd week in November.
-
Cin, also lost 10 lbs about the first week or so and no more. My old habits are back also. I hate this. I really hope the first fill is the trick. I have read you really get some good restrictions with fills, i would love to lose another 10 by Thanksgiving then another 10 New Years. My band is Inamed 9.75. What's yours?
