Yes, I've had this same "problem" since my surgery last May. I kind of like it because I can't eat sweets like I used to.

**UPDATED 8/18/14** The mystery has been solved. I developed a hiatal hernia and diverticulum since my sleeve in May. I'm so glad I know what has been causing me pain when I eat and drink. I will now have surgery to correct it. Not crazy about another surgery, but looking forward to feeling good again. I've been suffering for over a month with this. So i'm about 10 weeks postop. For the last 2 weeks i've been struggling to eat and drink. I get stomach spasms, and when i try to eat it feels like it gets stuck in my throat. After I attempt to eat solid food I get super nauseated. One time i vomited. The only thing that doesn't make me feel bad is a Starbucks nonfat mocha. I'm dehydrated, have a UTI, and my nails are brittle because i'm unable to take my Vitamins. Don't know what i should do, but i'm miserable.

8 weeks and 40 pounds
MrsVanderbilt replied to MichelleBryant's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rome, I couldn't have said it better myself. This is the first time in my life that I don't think of myself being on a diet. I've changed my life. Nothing is off limits, but I try to make smart choices. I'm 11 weeks postop (sleeved 5/14) and I'm down 44lbs. I don't stress over the numbers. I was a 20/22 preop and now I'm a 14/16. However, I've been having problems eating and drinking for the past few weeks. Lots of chest pain and the feeling of food getting stuck, spasms, etc. I'm doing a HIDA scan soon since the ultrasound of my gallbladder checked out ok. These problems have caused me to become dehydrated, get a UTI, and I'm also unable to swallow my Vitamins. I'm a hot mess at the moment. But I'm better than where I used to be! I'm off 2 prescription blood pressure meds. -

Eating/drinking makes me sick UPDATE!
MrsVanderbilt replied to MrsVanderbilt's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks everyone. I will call today. I called my doc 2 weeks ago and the nurse acted like it wasn't a big deal. She said it sounded like reflux, and that i should take Prilosec twice a day, and Hyoscyamine every 4 hours. -
For those who didn't tell anyone - betrayed
MrsVanderbilt replied to livingmore's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm so sorry. My mom did the exact same thing to me. I specifically told her not to tell ANYONE about my surgery, and she told everyone. I felt so betrayed as well. I let her know that it hurt me that she betrayed my confidence and that my fat is my own business. I will never tell her a secret again. Lesson learned. -

Day 3 of vacation :)
MrsVanderbilt replied to Mrs.RRn's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You are living the dream! How amazing it must feel to be comfortable in your own skin. We are planning a family vacation to Florida in a few months and I hope I feel more comfortable in a bathing suit by then. Have a great time at Disney World, and ride the Rock N Roller Coaster a few times for me! -
Bought some size 14 jeans this weekend. Yay!

May Sleevers-What are you eating?
MrsVanderbilt posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi May Sleevers! What does a typical day consist of for you? I've been stalled for almost 3 weeks and am wondering if I'm not eating enough? Breakfast - Syntrax Matrix Protein shake Snack - Dannon Light & Fit strawberry yogurt lunch - Tuna salad 3oz Snack - Mozz cheese stick dinner - Kidneys Beans with turkey sausage 1/3-1/2 cup Snack - Protein Peanut Butter Ball I don't drink enough Water. I might have 10oz all day. I also only take my Vitamins once or twice a week because I stay nauseated. I vomited for the first time this weekend. I'm having a hard time with stomach spasms again. -
Lovin' Lavin In Louisiana - Patient's Of Dr. Tom Lavin, Unite!
MrsVanderbilt replied to GEAUX SAINTS's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Lavin did my gastric sleeve surgery in May 2014. I'm 8 weeks postop and very pleased so far. I only met him once and he had a really good bedside manner. He is one of the top bariatric surgeons in Louisiana and is a pioneer in laparoscopic surgery. I felt 100% comfortable with him. His staff is quick to respond to questions via phone and email. I don't usually have to wait too long in his office prior to an appointment. Their nutritionist is a WITCH. Couldn't stand her. She is a very rude and curt woman who complains that she has to repeat the same thing over and over all day. Would I recommend him? So far, definitely. -

Did you know Your Protein Drinks Can be Covered By Your Insurance?
MrsVanderbilt replied to Insure Nutrition's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found several posts online that said Insure Nutrition is actually charging you (and your insurance) for the scar cream because insurance will not cover the drinks. Many people say their insurance has been charged $5000 for the scar cream. Just be sure to do your homework. Sometimes if it sounds too good to be true, it really is.
