Four days post op
AllisonKara replied to CherriYaYa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The diet plan can only be successful by trial and error method. You will be able to get to the right kind of food that will suit you.It is always a relief when the gas is released and tension in the abdomen is relieved.therefore it is always better to eat food which does not create gastric problem and you can lead a comfortable life. -

Surgery scars do take a long time to heal but it also depends on each body type. For some the scars heal faster than the others. It is therefore necessary to apply some kind of ointment which will help the scars to heal and finally fade.
-
It depends entirely on your doctor to set the diet chart as it is he who knows what is best for their patient.Every doctor follows a different line of treatment therefore it is always best to follow the given instructions. This helps to minimize the healing period and you will be feeling better in no time.

Tommorrow is my big day!
AllisonKara replied to CAT39000's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Nice to know that you are ready for the surgery. Finally the day is here. All will be fine for you.Good Luck and stay positive.Just follow the instructions given by the surgeon so that your healing process takes minimum time and you are up and about in a jiffy. Take care. -
Please do not get stressed about your weight loss before your surgery.Everybody reacts differently to a diet change and so have you. 8lbs in 11 days is not very bad.Just keep your focus on the upcoming surgery which is more important. If all goes well with the surgery, weight loss will follow. So do not be disappointed and feel relaxed and calm.Good Luck and Take Care.

Congratulations!!!!!You feeling so great after the surgery is a very positive sign. The answer for your question changes from patients to patient. But the main factors which affect weight loss most are diet, exercise and your overall commitment to changing old habits. On an average 60% of the excess weight is lost with weight loss surgery, over a period of time. Therefore things need to be taken slowly, so concentrate on healing from your surgery and then think about the weight loss.

Pre op liquid diet
AllisonKara replied to JadeyLady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are on pre-op diet for the weight loss surgery then it is always desirable to decrease all kind of risks. It is always better to consult your doctor if you want to introduce something in your diet.(a cup of coffee in your case). It is always important to stick to the diet plan as the right kind of diet as well as the eating technique could mean the difference between success and failure of the surgery. This also helps you to avoid complications and maximize the short and long term weight loss. -

Lap band with Plication Question
AllisonKara replied to jlj1110's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Lapband with plication is a procedure in which the band is placed on the upper stomach. Then the lower stomach is folded in half and an additional 10 to 12 stitches are placed there. This gastric sleeve surgery is done without cutting the stomach. This is actually a procedure which can be reversed because the part of the stomach is not removed, but only stitched. It also does not compromise the nutrition absorbing capacity of the stomach. Also plication does not involve the use of staples so there is no possibility of a leak from the staple line. -
not losing very fast
AllisonKara replied to jtickle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think you are doing just fine.Losing 50 plus pounds in two weeks is pretty good. You just need to go on, the way you are.Everybody has a different metabolic rate and so the weight loss is also different. You will sure reach your goal the way you are losing weight as well as the inches.Do take care and Good Luck. -
Eating too much too fast?
AllisonKara replied to n0ble199's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I absolutely agree with everyone that even if you are doing fine and not experiencing any kind of problem then too you should take it slowly and not overdo anything.Follow the instructions given by your surgeon as that will help to accelerate your healing process. Eating pureed food is beneficial as the stomach is less stressed when digesting the food. -

Eating Post Op after Gastric Bypass
AllisonKara replied to DimandGirl's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Now you are more than a week post-op and must be able to digest the clear liquids, therefore I feel you can now introduce pureed foods into your diet and continue it for the first four weeks of the surgery.Have frequent meals but no more frequently than every 20 minutes while awake.Foods like protein shakes, chicken broth and Yogurt along with other fluids will also help you to stay hydrated. -
Is anyone having problems with low blood sugar as a result of bypass surgery?
AllisonKara replied to Chelly's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Gastric surgery often helps to improve the symptoms of type 2 diabetes because after the surgery, the intestine becomes the most important tissue for glucose use and this decreases the blood sugar levels long before any weight loss has occurred. You also need to eat at regular intervals so as to maintain your blood sugar and not skip meals. Also you should try and eat healthy. -
Please try and be strong. You don't have to cry just because you are struggling with the liquids. Take it easy and drink very little at one time and keep repeating. It is going to take time for you to settle down, just be brave and follow the instructions given by your doctor.Good Luck.
