Have you talked to your surgeon about this? It seems pretty unusual to me. Usually one does not have problems with liquids.
-
It is recommended to slow walk for 5-10 minutes between hours. This little exercise is actually quite helpful post op.

what do you do for a tummy ache?
AllisonKara replied to loving.life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I recommend slowly walking for a while. It should straighten your organs and help reduce the pain sharply. It's not much, but I don't think the pain can be eliminated entirely. -
I agree that they are indeed not easily accepted by most of us. You might better want to switch the tablets for a while. Try the chewables later.
-
I don't think that many people are recommended the same docs. It depends on your body. By the way, how are you diet plans in this one-week to your surgery? Congrats and best wishes.

Pain left of belly button question
AllisonKara replied to KittyKat848's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suggest you talk to your doctor about this, and tell your doctor if the pain increases. It's indeed normal, but not always. However, I would also recommend not to worry. There has been an incision near that spot. Rubbing and a little bit of heat should probably take care of it. -
People are generally allowed pureed food in their second week post-op. It may take some more time in some cases like yours. As you said that you could not tolerate the vanilla pudding, it clearly indicates that you should not try pureed food yet. Give it some more time. I guess 2-3 days should do or 5 days at most. I am sure you should be fine by then. Congrats, and all the best.

I don't understand why, unless you get a better supplement. What matters most is whether it is by your nutritionists recommendation or not. You must consider your nutritionist.

Help, Band Question
AllisonKara replied to jennygirl37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree this problem is indeed common. I personally know many people who had a fill, and some of them felt it quite tight after several days. You have taken the right decision to go to your doctor. -
Low fat cream soups?
AllisonKara replied to irockedthe80s's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not thought about low fat creamy soups for sometime now, but here are some links that may possibly help you with your low fat creamy soup. And, all the best. http://www.sheknows.com/food-and-recipes/articles/807388/lowfat-creamy-soup-recipes http://www.eatingwell.com/healthy_cooking/quick_healthy_cooking/healthy_creamy_soups -
Suggestions for a care/starter package?
AllisonKara replied to SouthernFriedPugs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For a non-professional recommendation, I would say the first thing you must think of is Protein shakes. First week post-op is very important. You must stay with your sister to take care of her, or remind her via phone. liquid diets are recommended first week post-op. You can give your sister pureed food in the second week. But, the biggest concern for now is protein and hydration. -
I think i hit green!
AllisonKara replied to bluegudren's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I agree I have not felt much of the green zone myself. It comes and goes from time to time. Mostly I feel a good healthy appetite. I read somewhere that an appetite for lite food is good for health. However, it's not favorably the green zone. -
Should I be concerned about calories this early?
AllisonKara replied to Tate777's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your progress seems just fine. You said, you never feel hungry, it indicates that you are actually following the dietary guidelines. So, no need to worry. -
It should not be this bad. Many people feel ease in general. You should probably consult your surgeon about this. This isn't normal. Have you been given pain relieving meds? And, is it happening since the surgery or movement? If you have discomfort from dringking fluids, then you should go to your surgeon as soon as possible.

Just got banded today, and in so much pain!
AllisonKara replied to Cat225's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You must have been prescribed some pain relieving meds. And do not take short walks as long as 10 minutes. Shorten it up to 4-5 minutes. It's not much time since your surgery. Liquid diet is surely recommended. And, consider your surgeon if this gets worse. -
Thin liquid diet is usually recommended for the first week. You can start taking pureed food from the second week. Again, it also depends on your inner tolerance.

Banded 4 days... Liquid phase is killing me!
AllisonKara replied to Wendydarling19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is recommended that you follow you diet plan and surgeon prescription strictly. As for the hunger, yes, you are right. You should be prepared to be hungry for some more time. All the best. -
Post op protein.
AllisonKara replied to mizznickie13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is correct for many. People do not usually tolerate dairy post-op. It is advised to take protein powder with water. You might as well try to take it with milk. But, do so only if you think you can tolerate it. All the best. -
travelling
AllisonKara replied to hopeful2 be slim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It would be better to consult your surgeon. A non-professional suggestion would not do much well if you are in first week post op, and seek to travel. -
I don't think anybody would recommend you to consume alcohol only under 10 weeks post op. Your stomach is still healing from inside. It is wise to talk to your doctor about this. He/she will give you the correct guidance.
-
I prefer fresh fruits, fruit juice (not the packaged one), milk shakes, banana shake with chocolate chips. Nothing beats nature. However, these bottled stuff are one's good friend while travelling.

Drain tube generally used, but not everybody use a drain tube. It feels a little bit uncomfortable and strange, but no feeling of pain. You can clear your thoughts about it.

Has anyone had Gastric by-pass after thyroid surgery
AllisonKara replied to rinny11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Studies suggest a significant decrease in TSH 12 months following surgery in patients who are not taking preoperative thyroid medications. Higher levels of TSH were associated with greater BMI in both patients on and off medication. -
How Many Fills To Green?
AllisonKara replied to NewMeDebbie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Basically, processed meat, fish, skimmed milk, etc. are good for health. Remember, only food will get you out and in of the green area. Tracking food is very helpful in these cases. It's not possible to track every bit you eat, but it takes time to build a habit. -
OVER A MONTH POST OP AND NO CHANGE!
AllisonKara replied to sleevinIT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good food habit is very important. Track your food, but keep a watch of what you are going to eat. Fat is also good, if it does not clogs in our body. And, fish is very healthy. I presume you are already on salad.
