Curious about something....
AllisonKara replied to crazykim's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel something is very wrong with what the woman has to say to you because if she was facing problems like acid influx or facing problem with the healing of her gastric sleeve surgery, then she should have immediately returned to her surgeon for advise so that her problem did not get aggravated to what it is today.Maintaining your diet is in your hands and if she was not satisfied then she should have consulted the doctor and not waited all these months. -
Gastric Sleeve surgery shrinks a patient's stomach and help them to lose weight therefore it is absolutely necessary to be ready for this change.Try changing your diet as it is better to prepare your body on living on less food.Try incorporating protein-rich liquid meals for before and after your surgery. Also try and prepare your support group which will help you face your surgery with a positive frame of mind.

Extreme fatigue and low energy
AllisonKara replied to Sherbear911's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is very normal to feel weak and devoid of strength weeks after the surgery.Do try and follow the instructions given by your surgeon so as to get the maximum benefit and also take in the number of calories advised by the doctor. This will help you get your strength back faster than you would know. -
I think it depends on the body type.Sometimes It is not sure that your body starts to lose weight immediately after you have had your lapband because different body types react differently after the surgery. Therefore I would suggest that you should wait a while and then decide weather the surgery has helped you or not and if it has not, then what steps can you take to get the desired weight loss.

AllisonKara replied to Wendydarling19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can understand why you are feeling low but i feel that you should acknowledge the hard work you have put in to lose those 50 lbs.It is not an easy task but then you managed to accomplish it.You also need to keep a positive attitude for the future so that you are able to get to your ideal weight. You may not be able to see the change in yourself but I am sure the people around are able to see the big change. -
Post Op 5 days (RNY) and lifted something too heavy, now what?
AllisonKara replied to KelliM73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you need to call your surgeon and tell him everything. He is the only one to take the call on this issue. It is always better to take precautions rather than look for a cure later.I pray all is fine in your case and there will be no need for you to worry. -
Bariatric Surgery Do's And Don'ts
AllisonKara replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Very well said Irene. You have mentioned some very valuable instructions which are like a great inspiration for people like us who are contemplating of going under the knife.I am trying to gather all the information that I can before taking the decision. You sound like a great motivator whose words are going to be of great help for me in the future. -
If your Blood pressure is increasing then you should become aware of the reasons as to why it is happening.Bringing lifestyle changes into your daily routine is something you should be looking into.Exercising or staying physically active, eating less of salt and following your doctor's advice is something which is going to help in the long run.

STRICTLY VENTING
AllisonKara replied to Westfield27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you need to take things in your hands and not trust people around you if they are not helping yo.You need to contact the right kind of people so that you are able to get the surgery done as soon as possible.I wish you all the best for this and hope all gets sorted out for you. -
Do I have to wait a full 60 seconds for soft foods?
AllisonKara replied to lstoddard22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it is always better to follow the rules, they keep you out of trouble. As for keeping the gap of 60 seconds between two gulps is so that you do not eat fast as that will add to your troubles. There are chances of food getting stuck and this will give rise to heart burns and you will start to feel nauseated. -
Nausea and vomiting is quite common after the bariatric surgery.Anesthesia given during the surgery is a common reason for nausea.Try and eat your meals very slowly and chew the food properly. This will not only give you the feeling of fullness but will also prevent food from getting stuck.Do not lie down immediately after your meals as lying down will increase your chances of heart burns. Also keep yourself well hydrated.

Fecal Blockage- Warning: TMI Subject
AllisonKara replied to kpay10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry you had to go through this problem of constipation but these kind of conditions are not uncommon after the surgery. This is so as you are not eating to your full and your diet is restricted. With time you will adjust and the condition will improve as you introduce more fiber into your diet. Also try and drink enough water which helps regulate the body functions and relieve constipation. -

Post-op Gas Pains
AllisonKara replied to Junebug36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As every persons body has its own recovery time so it might take a day or two less or more to recover from this gastric problem. It is better you eat light and avoid foods which add to your woes.Try and keep your movement like walking to the maximum so that it helps you feel better, but please do not overdo it. -
You're stuck all day and can't bring in your own food
AllisonKara replied to greensleeve's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It is a nice idea to keep a 'medically necessary' letter in your pocket so that you can carry what you need to eat,in places where you are not allowed to carry your food.It becomes increasingly difficult for someone who is in a similar condition as yours(that you have had a gastric sleeve surgery).I feel people become helpful once they know your medical condition. -

QUESTION: If U had gastric bypass & U had 2 do all over again verses the SLEEVE would U?
AllisonKara replied to cindyvirden.com's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I think I would have opted for the gastric sleeve surgery again if I had to do it all over again.I was in a terrible condition. My weight was killing me,but now I feel great losing weight after the surgery.I also have a sweet tooth and that is what was adding to my woes.I think I have no regrets at all with my surgery. -
How soon did you return to work?
AllisonKara replied to countrygrl1978's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It should not be much of a problem to go back to your normal life in 7-10 days. But as you say that you have a desk job,for that you will have to sit for hours at a stretch. Therefore you should take it a little easy before you return to work.Walking around and then resting in between is going to be the need of the hour therefore you will have to be very careful in the initial days and follow the instructions given by the surgeon. -
Pre-op confused!
AllisonKara replied to Outerbeauty13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope your doctor has provided you with all the information on what is right for you to eat as your pre-op diet.If you are following his instructions properly then I think that everything should go smoothly. You do not need to be nervous or confused as lap-band is fast gaining acceptance because of its good rate of success. You have the good example of your mother who got banded two years ago.
