  1. I hope so, but I'm not sure. I see the dietician on Wednesday which I guess is good as I'm not sure how long the opti diet has to be before hand. How long did your surgery take?

    hi there

I had the Omega loop bypass 4 weeks ago! We have the same surgeon. I had a band and a sleeve and stretched the sleeve also. This was another surgeon too. I cannot fault Dr Dolan he is the best. My surgery was 26 March. I spent full five days in hospital because the drain was still draining so until it runs nearly clear you have to stay in! I was ready to go home at day 2! So far I have lost 11kg in the 4 weeks. I am wrapped. You have to be careful as you don't feel any restriction so you have to be disciplined and stop and a cup of food. Definitely don't eat then drink wait 30 mins , as I did this the other day and had the shakes, sweats and was vomiting and vomiting. Lucky I was not at work. I am now back at work and doing great. I am so happy. I am back to power walking 3 km every day and try get a day in for a break. Now I am on solids iam eating high Protein foods, turkey, fish, chicken, etc. I am on the net researching receipe ideas all the time. You will love Jessica the dietician she is great. Really take on board her advice. I started at 117 in 2003 when I was first banded. I did loose 25kg with the sleeve in 2007 and put it back on after the stretching. I weighed 100 on the 26 March for my bypass and now 89. I am down from 22, 20, to size 18. Get excited as its a new life! If the surgery is Keyhole you will be up and running after 2 weeks like me. Although Dr Dolan wanted me to rest for 4, so that's the advice I took and didn't go back to work but I did start walking! I haven't experienced dumping yet as I am too scared to eat or drink 1 thing bad, so that's good! My next appt with dietician and Dr Dolan is 3 June. He gave me a goal of 83 and I hope I can get there!

    Keep in touch!

  2. Hey everyone!

As a requirement for surgery I have to make a 3 day menu. My problem is that I don't like most of the items on the list. I don't like yogurt or cottage cheese. I have never eaten refried Beans. I have to have between 75-100g of Protein everyday. I want to be prepared so that I will not have problems after the surgery.

What are some of the things that you guys ate during this phase of your journey.

I don't have a surgery date yet, my final pre-op visit is Monday, April 14 and I am hoping to be scheduled before the end of the month (is that realistic?).

I am so glad I found this site. My husband thinks I am crazy because for the past week, I have been reading all these post.

    try this is gorgeous!

    on a bed of mash

refried Beans (blend for 20 secs its lovely trusT ME)

    salsa dip

    grated cheese low fat

microwave then cover in some sour cream!

its just like having nachos but its all smooth and without the chips!

  3. hey all, I am still pre-op but having a really really really tough time with this!

my surgeon does Clear Liquids for 5 days, then full liquids for 5 days THEN the pureed foods. I have two kids and practically couldn't feed them baby food because I was STRONGLY averted to the sight and smell. I often got sick from it. the simple THOUGHT of cooking meats, Soups, main courses, etc and then blending them....oh dear GOD just makes my stomach turn. badly. just thinking about it.

what am I to do????? the pureed foods are from day 10-21 post-op. I'm pretty sure I'll have some hunger by then. the suggestions from the surgeon include pureeing chicken, boiled eggs, chili, shepards pie, and other things. GROSS. period. now, having something MASHED would be ok. but fully blended would do me in.

please don't think that i'm being obnoxious or smart aleck, I simply cannot even mentally get myself to the idea of eating pureed foods. I don't know what to do. I wonder if staying on the full liquids is even an option? I know the point is to gradually phase your pouch into accepting new amounts and textures but this one is a huge mental block for me. I meet with the nutritionist in a couple weeks and seriously, this is my only question for them!

try this i GUARENTEE you will love it.

on a bed of mash potato

blend some refried Beans (for only 20 seconds) trust me they are yumm this way

    salsa dip

    sour cream

    cheese low fat

melt it all over bed of mash its THE BEST!

  4. @@fleabag1975 Hi fleabag nice to meet you! I also started with a lap band too and I wonder if it might be partially responsible for how my stomach deformed over the years. I was incredibly successful with my sleeve and even went below goal. For the last few years tho I've struggled so much and with hunger, and feeling sick all the time. I have extremely bad GERD too.

Did you have those symptoms? May I ask exactly what type of bypass you have? I've never heard of it.

    Thanks! :)

    for sure!

    nice to meet you too...!

I have had a bypass but a reversable and safer option one. Its relitively new in Australia here. Here is the website have a look and compare the stats there is a chart throughout the site that shows you the complications of full bypass versus this one http://clos.net/

yeah my sleeve stretched unfortunatley. Only after 6 months too. I def had restriction and is was great i had lost 25 kg. I still reckon they didnt do it right the first time. The band slipped before that and i was left with a terrible scarred and deformed stomach too. I was lucky to have this procedure done. Anyway I feel great I have lost 10 kilos now and only 12 days out..

  5. I had my surgery 26 March 2014, so 12 days out now and doing well. I still get some left side pain but this is apparently cut muscle trying to heal. I too know its along road ahead and we have to have patience and persist after all we all persisted when the weight was piling on so lets have a positive outlook this time on the weight coming off! I have just gone from size 22 back to 20 as of today, 9 kilo down (or 19 pounds)

keep going we can do this, and its so great to have a forum like this to share !

  6. I was wondering about other things that made people have this! I havent yet as I am only on puree so far. But I have stopped caffeine and had a small reduced fat ice coffee, it had sugar in it still and I had a bit of an upset stomach after it. Butter was a worry for me for sure - thanks for that honest and personal post...

  7. Reading your first post made me very emotional, because I feel your pain; I'm 3 days out, had surgery on the 26, and feel absolutely horrible, If I hadn't had surgery I would think I have the flu. Aches, chills, nausea, having difficulty keeping anything down, have only been able to get about 8 oz. of Water down. My doctors office says this is normal but it doesn't feel normal, like you I worked so hard to get to this point and last night I told my husband that I wished I had never had the surgery, I was so strong before the surgery ready for anything, now I feel weak. Anyone else post-op feel this way and how long before the nausea subsides? and you feel somewhat normal?

stay positive, things will change - hugs

  8. I had an Omega loop too!!

Your the first person I've seen in here who has had it done!

My sugar reading have come down (from about 20 to 12) still high but not as bad.

The main reason I got this surgery was because of metabolic syndrome. My bmi was closer to 35 than to 40 so I don't know why my sugars haven't been able to be controlled... I was on maximum doses of 2 oral meds and an injection (similar to. Insulin) but still no luck...

It will be interesting to see the hb1ac readings at 3 months Post-op.

yes same here! havent seen anyone else who has had it either! Arent we unique!

    when did you have yours?

    any complications so far?

I havent things seem to be going well. I had exact same sugar readings now mine are

below 10. I had insulin resistance, by BMI was 39.

Doc took bloods the other day and seeing surgeon this Weds (he just is interested in results at 1 week post op)

so i will let you know.)

I am just progressing onto puree foods. Its been bloody hard with fluids! only lasted 12 days....

Lost 9 kilo though so far so i am wrapped.

Anyway good luck and will repost soon

  9. i just had this done 26th March, I am 6 days post op and have lost 6kg already. Surgeon is wrapped with the results so far.

I feel 100% apart from really severe muscle pain from the left side, but that will heal, it will just take time.

I am so far so glad I have done this, my blood sugar readings are down from over 17 to between 6-8 and I know i am going

to look after myself so much better now...I feel like I have been given a 2nd chance at life and this is all mine now for the

taking and boy am I going to do so much with it!

  10. Hi everyone

I had Omega loop gastric bypass surgery yesterday. Keyhole thank god. It's a less dangerous procedure to the RNY and I am glad my surgeon chose this for me. You can do some looking at http://clos.net I am 2nd day in hospital 2nd night climbing walls with boredom. I feel good enough to go home but have to wait for the drain to come out tomorrow. So it's all good so far

  11. Thanks snow

mine is 26 March I am having open surgery bit scared. Taking 6 weeks off. I am 5ft 4 and weigh 98 kg. I hope to get to at least 60. I am insulin resistant and liver and kidneys failing as I am producing 10 times more insulin than I should. I have had several surgeries and, sleeve and now bypass so have to have open due to scar tissue. Best of luck with yours and keep updating as I will only just over 8 wks to go to a new beginning

  12. At first glance, the slim Playstation 3 is a huge improvement on the older, fatter, lighter model, the only downside so far I can see about the fact that it is lighter and thinner is the fact that I really don't like standing the console up as I feel it will fall over. Using a unique top-down vantage point, you wreak havoc from the onset in three cities: Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas. hair - stimulates things such as grass, hair and fur.

    my website gta 4 download

um mm the relevance of your post to mine please?????
