    Bariatric advantage vitamin

right now im taking opurity brand. EXCELLENT Vitamin...but i just cant with the taste. i cant deal with it. the worst part of my day is taking my vitamin because it literally makes me gag. the price is awesome though (only 35.00 for a 90 day supply) and i can vouch that they are excellent Vitamins because when i take them as im supposed to, i literally FEEL my body improving in function. so they do work. and their customer service is EXCELLENT and if you're like me, that's a biggie! i recommend trying them. the only issue is you get a 90 day supply so if you don't like them...you're kinda stuck.
  2. i'm out almost 7 months and i am stuck at my current weight for nearly 2 months now. it fluctuates between 198 and 202...WEEKLY. lol. much better than the nearly 250 lbs i was stuck with a year ago. i'm not going to panic for another 2 months. all of my wls gals that i know personally had 2-4 month stalls before regaining normal weight loss for them again.

What's your opinion of Low Fat?

for me, NORMAL is key. i just want to eat NORMALLY. like HEALTHY people do. i want to have a VARIED diet with all nutrients, minerals and Vitamins, and yes, fat too. i was once on a strict no fat diet...my body was retaining the weight and i was always sick. then i started adding fat again but in more limited quantities and i started losing. i also had a relatively high fat diet that did not include bread or Pasta and i lost a good amount of weight, and always had energy. fat is not the enemy and i do not listen to any advice that tells me to cut it from my diet.

    Only losing 1lbs a day

personally a pound per day would freak me out in a bad way. there is no SET amount of weight you will be gauranteed to lose within any time frame. a pound per day is a HUGE progress and very quick weight loss. that is 7 pounds per week, double what most people lose, and even what is usually recommended. from about the 2nd month forward, i have been losing about 2 pounds per WEEK, and i like that. my weight loss feels more natural, uncomplicated and less rushed. i am not freaking out when the scale doesn't move, and i am not worried if i am losing TOO quickly for my own comfort. as was mentioned before, you're ok for now, but 1 pound per day will be excessive it if continues at that pace. you should want to be HEALTHY first and foremost, and SLIM next.

    Drinking Sodas with sleeve?

i went cold turkey literally 24 hours before my surgery. i used to be a HUGE soda lover. haven't had a soda since, or any interest in drinking one...except one time when i had a stomach virus. i wanted ginger ale so badly for the pain...but couldn't have it full strength. so what i did was leave it to flatten and then i added 1/2 Water to it. it helped me through that bad episode. but that has been my only soda digestion (and it was more like juice by the time i drank it LOL) since surgery.

hey ladies! how is everyone doing?

    Does your sleeve tolerate xylitol?

i can't tolerate ANY sugar alcohols or alternatives. only regular sugar. i am not sure what the reasonings are, but after having horrid reactions to every artificial sweetner and gum with sugar alcohols in it...i RUN whenever they're around LOLOL.

    Hungry

i feel your pain! i too...was HUNGRY. no, not head hunger, not all in my mind...i was HUNGRY. and guess what? i still get HUNGRY. as a matter of fact...i have to eat about every 2 hours around the clock because i get real hunger and i don't like to be hungry. for me, as my body becomes more adjusted to life post surgery and the new me is emerging, i realize that i go through two phases every day, REALLY fast, around the clock: 1. i get hungry VERY quickly 2. i get full VERY quickly i do not have a "middle ground" where i am "on my way" to being hungry. i eat and i am very full, and then two hours later, i go from full to hungry. i no longer have a signal telling me i am GETTING hungry. i just get hungry. i have adjusted to it, and i am fine with it. at first, i was very worried, but my surgeon was honest with me throughout the entire process. he reminded me that EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. and that is not a bad thing. some of us still get hungry. some of us don't. i do. personally, i like being hungry. i haven't lost my love for good foods, i haven't lost my desire to eat. personally, i was worried that i would "forget" to eat. ha, that is not a problem for me! i now struggle with my full signal...but that's another thread entirely. LOL. do i regret my surgery? not a bit. i am almost 46 pounds down in a bit less than 4 months. i have no regrets and no qualms. our surgeries are only tools...we are ALL different. you did not waste your money...you just have to make it work for you.

    Is this dumping syndrome?

yup, it's dumping. i am still an avid milk drinker post surgery, because it is one of the only liquids besides Water and tea that i can tolerate (that is ALL that i drink). i find that fat free milk prevents dumping, while if i sip on 2% milk, i will be dumping within minutes. go down to fat free milk and try to drink a bit less each day...it should alleviate some of your symptoms!

    WLS and marriage...

oh, as an aside--if anyone has changed--it's me! it's so hard to pinpoint it--it's more than just "confidence". i am now vocal and am no longer a wallflower. not only am i changing physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. i still look the same--my clothing even still fits, with just a little sag--so i know it's not my physical self driving the change because most people can't tell i've lost weight yet! but for whatever reason, i stand up for myself more, say what's on my mind, and hold my head up higher. i thought my husband would be threatened by it, but he's not!

    WLS and marriage...

yes, i have had very specific changes after weight loss surgery in that my husband seems to be even more attracted to me now than he was before. i really appreciate it--but his sex drive has increased drastically too and that is a bit of an issue for me to keep up with. i should be elated--but my sex hormones are really, REALLY low, my body is still adjusting to post wls and i do not take chemical birth control so pregnancy prevention is ALWAYS on my mind! i am still trying to find a happy medium... on the flipside, he is very supportive and now sticks to me like glue! it's very interesting to say the least and i am happy that we are becoming stronger. our household isn't a junk food household and we eat full meals and not too much fast food (we have take out and fast food about 3 times per month IF that much so that's not alot) so things haven't changed in my household food wise. i was never a junk food eater in excess but i am a volume eater. so i can eat say, a meal of baked chicken, spinach and wild rice--but i will have two entire plates of it! so yes, healthy in type of food but unhealthy in amounts i ate! thankfully portion control is easier for me post wls. my diet has only changed in so much that i get turned off by foods high in sugar, and certain foods make me nauseated but that doesn't affect my family, so i don't make them go without the things they like just because i don't like them. that never has been an issue for me. i was honestly preparing for the worst with my husband because of all the horror stories, but i am so happy that our faith and trust is seeing us through this situation and we are closer than ever before. he received AWESOME counseling at the hospital from the nursing staff when i was in recovery (i was evesdropping--i had woken up out of my sleep but they thought i was still asleep and she was mentoring him on what my new needs would be as an individual and what OUR marital needs would be as a couple--awesome woman i wish i could HUG her!!!) and he has really paid attention to her. he was awesome in helping me during recovery and healing, and he is awesome in supporting me. why, just yesterday i got some cereal "stuck" and he was a real pro in patting and rubbing my back until it went down! a regular chip off the old block! LOLOL.

    African American vsgers!

i find that my weight goes up during the day--ive had this issue since i started trying to lose weight almost 16+ years ago. this morning i was 215...right now i'm 217. tomorrow i'll probably be around 214, and in the afternoon about 216. this has been going on for years. does anyone else have weigh ins that change throughout the day?

Lying about what type of surgery..

i would tell them its to fix a hernia, probably hialatal? *sp* as suggested. other than that, it's not their businesss...and if your dr. puts you out of work for 4 weeks, by law arent you entitled to that?

Abuse of wls..when it's not needed

I am going to have to agree with several of the posts here. I don't believe I have the right to judge anyone's weight loss journey or struggle. I am tall and people are always surprised to hear that I weigh 260lbs. They say "you carry your weight well". I am not pre-diabetic, I don't have high blood pressure. I do not have sleep apnea. But my family history says that this is my destiny if I don't do something about it now. This is a preventative surgery for me that will also help get me to a healthy weight. So I could easily be accused of taking advantage of this procedure. However, at one point in my life I was over 300lbs fought a good fight. Continue to do so. I realize that the sleeve is a tool for a healthier living. Everyone deserves the right to a healthier living. We all have travelled different journeys and faced different struggles. Isn't this where we should come together instead of judging? Don't we get judged enough already? i totally agree. at 5'4 i was 250 pounds but wore a size 16...so everyone would always tell me im not that big, and all i needed to do was lose my belly...i got to the point where i would tell people to can it and not say ANYTHING to me if they couldn't be supportive. i am now 30 pounds lighter and have already began sleeping better, my ankles and knees dont feel so achy, i can fill my lungs up more, and i am NOT drowsy all day long. no matter how good i looked on the outside this surgery has helped me with that and SO MUCH MORE.

Abuse of wls..when it's not needed

because of the way i carry my weight, i was always told by non medical professionals that i didn't have that much weight to lose, and that i didn't look "that big" prior to surgery. this had me telling those people to mind their business...i know what is best for my body. if their medical professionals are allowing them to have surgery, there has to be a reason, and there has to be a reason that makes surgery a reasonable option for insurance to approve it. just because someone is only 50 pounds overweight doesn't mean their body isn't suffering adversely from it.

    African American vsgers!

try PURE PROTEIN whey Protein Powder. you can order it from amazon.com for just 20.00 for 2 pounds, which will last you about 3 weeks. blend it with ice, fat free milk and some torani syrup for a delicious treat. when you blend it with ice it comes out like a milkshake--when you add the ice after blending it's like chocolate milk! it is SO easy for me to get in all of my protein and drinking these drinks keeps me in a healthy food mindset, plus i use them as meal replacements! the chocolate flavor is awesome. i promise you'll get your protein in, for a cost thats 1/3 of what some other people are spending for their protein powders.

hi! it's ok to feel nervous and not ready for the surgery prior, but once you wake up in recovery you'll wonder what all of the fuss was about!

    Horrible eating over Christmas

i too overiduldged this holiday. although for me, it is still WAYYY less than i used to eat, i've eaten the most i ever have since my surgery. unlike many others though, i too get hungry, and often! so it is easy for me to eat! the good thing is though, it is much easier for me to restart and refocus. don't let it get you down -- 100+ lb weight loss is awesome.

How do u get ur protein?

oh, and greek yogurt. i have one daily... so 2 protein shakes with milk alone is 66 g of protein because 25g +8g from the milk is 33. then greek yogurt gives me 15g per container. i buy store brand plain with 1/2 t brown sugar. delicious.

How do u get ur protein?

i have a Protein shake every single morning and i LOVE them. i use PURE PROTEIN brand whey protein. 25 g protein per scoop and only 2 g sugar. the chocolate tastes delicious. i purchase mine from my local grocer but amazon carries it. only 20.00 for a 2 pound tub, which will last me a bit under a month. so happy i found it...i give it 5 stars because when blended with ice it tastes JUST like a milkshake. today i had more than the usual because it was so tasty. you can also blend them with a touch of torani, or chocolate syrup. sugar free is recommended, but i buy everything regular and just halve or quarter the serving sizes! right now i add hazelnut torani syrup for a DELICIOUS treat. i have NO issues with taking my protein every day.
  23. thank you for the warning. i also did sugar free EVERYTHING...and post surgery i was in so much pain, feeling sick...you name it, i was it! found out the artificial sweetners were causing bloat, headaches and extreme thirst! i got rid of EVERYTHING sugar free about 4 days post op. if i NEEDED it to be sweetened, i added minute amounts of real sugar. what a lifesaver!!! within 2 days, it was like i was a new person i felt so much better. my Sleevie hated fake sugars post surgery. now i'm healing much better and tolerate them--but they are so unhealthy, i just stick to tiny amounts of real sugar, or i Water things down.
