I'm 32 and I'm feeling a little bit of guilt from having surgery. I don't regret the decision but I'm feeling guilty that this was the choice I made vs attempting yet another diet program. Before the surgery I lost 30 lbs and its nice to know I wont ever gain those lbs back. Today I sit at 228; which is the same weight I was at back in 2010. I'm looking forward to weighing less than 200 lbs. My husband is very understanding and supportive; so is my mom and sisters. Is this guilty feeling normal? I mean did I really need to spend 13000 dollars to be a healthy weight?

Just checking in. We lost my father in law a few weeks ago and its been tough. My doctors goal was to hit 205 by June 30 and I met that goal on Wednesday! So happy! My total weight loss since the start of the journey is 57 lbs. I'm over halfway there to my goal weight. Biggest challenge has been a work conference I took to Detroit. Was lucky and was able to go to a grocery store and pick up some fage Greek yogurt. I have eaten too much / wrong thing 2 times and threw up both times. Its so not worth it. I am trying to be very careful about what's going into my body. The weeks when my FIL was in ICU were the worst. I got off my excercise routine and had to get back on it after the dust settled.

My insurance has a bariatric surgery exclusion.... Makes me so mad because I called them on 1/3/14 to make sure I had the benefit and they said yes. Then; the bariatric coordinator called and said that I have an exclusion.... So I guess I'm switching to self pay Really makes me mad. I also called cigna today to double check and sure enough the lady said that it is excluded.

This week has been a stall week. I'm doing great but the weight loss is stalled at 215.
-
Ive been mixing half G2 Gatorade and half Water to keep my electrolytes up ever since the surgery. Also been taking my Vitamins. Starting weight was 262. Surgery weight was 232. Today's weight is 215. I had a stall during my period where my weight climbed from 218 to 220 and stayed for a whole week but once the period was over my weight dropped to 215. Apparently my cast Iron stomach has turned into a cast iron sleeve. I haven't had issues keeping anything down. Ive been eating all Protein with a bite or two of veggie. Mainly pot roasted beef and pork (falling apart tender). chicken and eggs; cheese and yogurt and skim milk. I need to log my protein to see how much I'm getting. Edit: I logged my meals for today and I got about 55 g of protein from my food.
-
My tastes have changed regarding the unjury strawberry. With the unjury chicken it seems like it goes best when mixed in some chicken broth. I ordered some unflavored Protein powder and I'm going to be trying it in a lot of different things. If I can get a whole scoop snuck in during the day in my different foods then that's an extra 26 grams of protein.
-
Got my unflavored protein powder in the mail and I think its fine but I'm not going to be able to use much at one time without the flavor getting to me. Its got a weird tang to it. I'm gonna try mixing it in some yogurt and fruit tomorrow.

What was the point?
webhopper replied to Pretty_In_Purple's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Make sure that you're getting enough good fats and enough Proteins. Stick with high Protein foods like greek yogurt with honey, eggs, lean ham or turkey, etc. Also, make sure that you're getting enough Water. Water helps to flush out all of the bad stuff, so if you don't have enough water in your system, then your body holds onto your fat. -
Good Luck!

Full - when does the feeling subside?
webhopper replied to browneyedgirl1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg I hate that feeling. I started taking tiny tiny bites so that I can tell when the fullness starts sneaking up on me.... -
hmm Tuna + Fage, I think I'll have to try that!

How is everyone doing today... I wanted to do a food roll call to see what my fellow april 21st sleevers are eating and drinking: Today I had egg salad (really runny) Also had half Water and half low-cal gatorade. My unflavored Protein powder is supposed to be here today I'm excited to start adding it to my gatorade. Pre-Op I was making shakes with unjury powder... but I find that the flavors are too sweet for me now and I can't stand anything that has too much of a "sweet" flavor. Have you guys experienced this?

APRIL SLEEVERS: How much weight did you lose?
webhopper replied to tanaproma's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am one week from surgery and I'm down 9 pounds in that week. -
My neighborhood has a lot of streets and there is a circle where I can make a loop and its about 0.75 mile. "Loop" So I walk to the end of 67th street; take a left on 129th; take a left on 69th then another left on 128th. Then I walk down 128th until it veers left back onto 67th street where my house is.
-
I had surgery on a monday and it was the following sunday before I had a BM.
-
Weighed in at 223 lbs today, yay! I was also able to make two loops on my walk today instead of just one like i've been doing since the surgery. Each loop took 15 minutes before surgery but now they take about 17 minutes because I walk slower. So that means I'm up to excercising for 34 minutes at a time yay! prior to today I had been making multiple loops at different times of the day. Also, I went to church and my mother in law embarrassed me by asking in a really loud voice where a bunch of people can hear " So how much weight have you lost?!?" I was so embarrassed especially since I haven't told anyone from church besides my mother in law. I just said 7 lbs and then left it at that.

6 days out & I'm still adjusting . .
webhopper replied to Suedeeanne's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery on April 21 and this is the first time I slept all the way through the night and also didn't need to take anything for the pain Whoo hoo for small victories! -
Good luck!! Second thoughts are normal but by the time you are a week or two post op you'll be thanking yourself for being so brave. I swear my energy level is better now than it was before the surgery.

I have a 16.9 oz water bottle that I fill up and keep in the fridge. When I drink I mix the water with either apple juice or Gatorade in equal parts. My goal is to empty and fill the water bottle twice each day with that being approximately 70 oz by the time you double it due to the mixing half juice or Gatorade. So far I'm at a bottle and a half per day and my pee is light yellow so I feel like I'm doing pretty good on my fluids.

Today it seems like there is a lot of gas pressure right under my rib cage. I can feel it gurgling in there and rising up through my tummy. I keep trying to burp it out. And oh Yah; I'm down 7 lbs since the surgery!! Whoo hoo. I have been walking three times a day for 20 minutes each time and I'm wondering if that's what is making all the gas come out. Oh ya and my last pee was lighter yellow instead of dark yellow! WIN!! -
