Hi there!
I am Webhopper and I started this journey because I'm tired of my body not being able to keep up with what my mind wants to do. I'm 32 and I weigh 258 lbs.
I used to be 5'9'', back in high school but a combination of too much time on my feet and poor bone health has me shrinking, oddly enough. I'm about 5'6'' - 5'7'' now.
I recently had an accident involving a sled, which caused me to have a compression fracture in my spine. All through the recovery I kept thinking that if I had weighed less, perhaps I wouldn't have broken my back. I also became worried about falling on the ice and snow and the impacts that something like that could have on my body and bones, especially since I don't believe they can handle my weight without breaking if I fell.
I have Cigna insurance, which will pay for the surgery, and I'm going to a seminar at the Oklahoma Lap Band Center of Oklahoma to learn more about the Gastric Sleeve surgery that I'm interested in.
I'm no stranger to hard work and excercise, and I managed to keep my weight below 200 lbs for YEARs through a combination of diets and excercise. I was a cross country runner in high school. Things have gotten out of control in the last few years and I need to get things back on track for my health.
I'm looking forward to the journey.
Incidentally I come from this very "large" family on my mom's side, who struggle with obesity. My mom weighs close to 400 lbs and she is interested in having surgery as well, so she is going to call and check on options in Houston, TX.
I'm in Tulsa, OK.
Wish me luck ya'll!
