I'm on Medicare Complete. Does anyone know if they cover Protein drinks? If not, who would I ask? My nut? Or surgeon? My personal doctor? Don't quote me but I believe they do. Go to www.insurnutrition.com u can apply right online or call the 1800 number on their website. Good luck.

    Told not to lose weight?

When the pounds came back they alwaysssss brought a few friends with them so I end up weighing more than I did when I initially sought out to lose weight.

    So dissapointed!

Curvy, Was the CPAP an insurance requirement? Or was this ordered by your doc because of a condition? I have sleep apnea that has been untreated for years I'm talking 10 plus years. Surgeon required new sleep study which confirmed I have obstructive sleep apnea. I was required to sleep on it for 3 weeks prior to my surgery or no surgery.Plus having the sleep apnea helps with the WLS approval as well because with most insurance companies sleep apnea is a comorbidity. Well I know u know that already being a utilization review nursing professional lol. Had I known earlier I would have worried u sick everyday asking u " do u think they r going to approve me" lmbo. They came back with an approval in 3 days so that was awesome.Well with UHC it's easy, give them what they want and they'll go away..... It's a helluva lot more difficult with some of the smaller plans. I'm so grateful to have UHC. But that whole Bariatriic Resources program was a pain in the a$$. I'm happy you got your gear. Are you going to try to get your Protein drinks covered?Girl we had Aetna first sbd they were hell!! Switched to UHC was much better. They don't cover the Protein shakes.I see posts on and off about people getting the shakes covered..... But I'm not sure if they're prescription shakes processed as a DME benefit or what. I'm gonna do some more reading.Insurnutrition sent the script to my surgeon she gave them what they needed but UHC was like nice try the shakes Vitamins and scar cream on her lol

    Told not to lose weight?

To stop or keep going is totally a decision u will have to make. For me I have always been successful losing weight but keeping it off was a whole different ball game. I feel the sleeve will be the tool to help me get the weight off and maintain it. I know it will still be work but with the added help I'm confident VSG is the best option for me.

Once my doctor ordered the CPAP approval from UHC was rapid. I didn't wait for them to come to my home or would have taken over a week. The durable equipment provider had a office locally I drove over the next day selected my mask paid my portion drove home with my CPAP machine and have been sleeping in it ever since. It's possible this can happen. I made EVERYONE aware that I'm having surgery and must get the machine ASAP or risk my surgery being canceled. I have to say everyone jumped on board and helped get this done right away. Keeping my fingers crossed this works out for u too. I believe it will.

    Breathing tube

Since I will be under by the time they insert breathing tube and it will be removed before I wake up I think I'm good there. Here r my fears: Being under anesthesia and they not realize I can feel what they r doing. This very rarely happens but being the over thinker I am it's lurking in the back of my head Throwing a blood clot Waking up feeling like I've been hit by a freight train Waking up and liver didn't shrink enough so my surgeon stitch me back up without doing my sleeve. I honestly feel I'm going to be ok but these r my fears.
  17. Starting my 2 week liquid diet today. Feeling so many emotions right now. Can I get through this 2 week liquid diet? I'm feeling really nervous at this moment. doubt and fears have kicked into over drive. I've had such a horrible relationship with food over the years and I've learned so much this far on my journey to a healthier me but can I get through 2 weeks of liquid diet. I so don't want to fail.

    Psych Eval today

There's a lady on here who psyche eval didn't go well. Could be her circumstances but her psychologist didn't clear her and required her to return for further consultation. She was the first person i had ever heard of to experience this. Mines went very well and so did my daughters. My bariatric clinic have me a list of 3 that they routinely work with and the one we chose was awesome I felt like he was there to support me ensuring I didn't have on blinders about the surgery how it isn't a magically fix it's a tool that requires hard word dedication and consistency. Very happy my path crossed with his.

    Psych Eval today

Each could be different but mines went very well. I basically filled out a ton of questions met with him answered more questions verbally then he spoke to me about how to began preparing mentally for this lifestyle change. He shared a wealth of info that's been very helpful to me. Good luck and u will be just fine. Shouldn't be bad at all.

10 Days With No Food. Lord!

I'm right with u hun!! My surgery date is 4/14 and today is day 3 of liquid diet. Last night was RUFF!! I celebrated when I awakened and realized I survived another day of this. Lmbo about moving the desk in the restroom and not to give TMI but I feel like I pee an entire gallon each visit to the ladies room. This is so hard but as a mom it crushes me to think if how my 22 year old that's having surgery on the sane day with me is having a worst time. She had a crushing headache all day and night. Nothing made it better eventually she fell asleep. Thank god I'm not craving I think it helped I cut out sugar caffeine and dramatically reduced my carbs 3 weeks ago. I find I get really hungry but not the withdrawal symptoms my baby is having. I know she's a young adult at 22 but she will always be my baby.
