$600 Bariatric Program Fee
CurvyCakes replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there alleycat! Yes that's a bummer. I have UHC as well and based on my group coverage the requirements were much less than Aetna whom I had before. *BMI 40 or 35 with comorbidities *Complete 6 months in healthy weight program with a minimum of 10 calls with ur healthy weight program coach during that time *psych eval *Letter from PCP *facility where surgery to be performed has to e a 5 star center of excellence. That wasn't much at all compared to Aetna lol. I've learned in this process to have a lot of patience and accept the fact that thou giveth and thou taketh away. Whatever hoops I have to jump through including shelling out $600 for program fee I'm willing to do. It hit me today that I pay $600 and more for a handbag that essentially I don't need here is a tool I need like the air I breathe yet I'm complaining to the degree I am. -
Great article thanks for posting link.

Does your spouse know how much you weigh?
CurvyCakes replied to Ree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ree omg I totally can relate to the interacting or meeting my husband folks he works with. He got a huge promotion so I hadn't been to the office since I packed on an additional 60lbs so I was beyond myself he insisted I come in say hello and assess his new office to see how to we were going to doctorate it. After I left I couldn't stop wondering what they were thinking when they saw me. I felt like they were thinking OMG she's gained ton of weight she's HUGE! It's fine because I'm pressing ahead full steam to get my body back to become healthier and MUCH lighter. I plan on taking full advantage of my sleeve LITTERALLY!! -
Does your spouse know how much you weigh?
CurvyCakes replied to Ree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm tooooo embarrassed to share my weight with him however he steps on scale with me in bathroom all the time. He will even mention at diner or on car rides I weigh xyz I got to get this gut off me and pull my 6 pack back out lol. I would die if he knew my weight as I've NEVER weighed what I've come to weigh. There's no question he knows I'm FAT & OVERWEIGHT as he has eyes lmbo. I have been working hard making better choices becoming more active and can't wait for March 24th to come so that I can be sleeved. We been married for 22 years he's a wonderful man that loves me regardless of what the scale says but it's about me and my embarrassment and shame for allowing myself to get this way. I plan to share my starting weight with my hubby on my 1 year surgery anniversary. -

$600 Bariatric Program Fee
CurvyCakes replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It looks like the program fees vary by surgeon office. So far I've seen anywhere from free to $1,000. I'm not happy about my $600 program fee but I'm thanking my bottom dollar it isn't $1,000. -
What liquids do you have pre-op?
CurvyCakes replied to butterfly2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Believe or not it seems this varies by surgeon. My pre-op diet will be protein shakes, crystal light, herbal non caffeinated teas, sf jello & Popsicles, and broth. I have an amazing friend I met on these boards her surgery is Tuesday and she can have 3 protein shakes, the other items mentioned and mines, and a light meal for diner 4 ounces of meat small amount veggies and while grain. Others I've chatted with have to drink specific optimum or bariatric advance shakes so it can very. I'm not looking forward to pre-op diet but being at my highest weight in my life and tired of being tired I'm feeling can-do-ishhhh lol hahaha -
CPAP or BPAP Machine for sleep apnea
CurvyCakes posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Results are in from sleep study and yup I have to sleep on the blasted machine. If anyone is currently sleeping on one of these machines I would love any feedback you can provide on pro's and cons, What type of mask did you find most comfortable, how long did it take you to adjust to sleeping on it, and anything else you would like to share. I am dreading wearing this contraption to bed and I know this sounds ridiculous but you mean In addition to being morbidly obese I have to WEAR THIS TO BED!?? So not sexy at all lol. -

$600 Bariatric Program Fee
CurvyCakes replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
some provide this info early on some don't. I'm not happy at all about this ridiculous bogus fee but I'd rather pay it and proceed with the surgeon I feel confident in than go with a few of the other surgeons I interviewed with a significantly reduced fee. Let us know how ur appointment goes. -

$600 Bariatric Program Fee
CurvyCakes replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine had a $1000 fee. I know, it sucks. The surgeon really should include these services with the cost of the procedure so that people like you and I don't have to pay that out of pocket. I would suspect that this is a way for the surgeon to immediately get $1000 in his pocket and the insurance can't touch it or refuse to pay part of it. Just my opinion. It still sucks. $1000 ok wait just a minute!! That's a lot of money on top of the portion of the surgery u could be responsible for. My percentage I'm responsible for is 30%. All in all like it or not if the surgeon we choose has these astronomical fees we have no other choice but to pay if we plan to remain with that practice. I love my surgeon I totally trust her so I will be shelling out this $600. Shoot hearing urs is $1000 I think I will gladly pay my $600. Lol -
