Did anyone else not do a full 2 week preop diet?
CurvyCakes replied to Justicenga's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on getting approved. My surgeon requires a 1 week liquid diet no small evening meal liquids only yikes. Dreading it but it's a requirement so I gotta do it. I'm planning to take 3-4 days off then telework for the remainder of the 2 weeks I initially allotted as time off for recovery. Some people seem to recover enough to return to work rather quickly and others not so quickly. We r all different. My surgeon advised to plan for 2 weeks but could possibly return sooner all depends on how I'm feeling. Skinny vibes to u! -

Hang in there I know it's tough but u got this. I love Chike it taste sooooo delicious to me. -
As my surgery date got closer the excitement was building rapidly but when I when I returned from lunch and received the email from my surgeon office that I was APPROVED......omg I LITTERALLY was jumping up and down and yelling THANK YOU JESUS!! This journey at times has been tedious but well worth it. Things became very real once I received the approval. I am so excited yet nervous but I know these are normal emotions.

Eating Carbs Post VSG
CurvyCakes replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Nut wants a balanced diet that includes whole grains, fruits, veggies, dairy and protein. I eat carbs, I just make sure to get my protein in and I've never had a stall. So ur weight loss hasnt been effected by them? If u don't mind me asking how much have u lost this far? -
Eating Carbs Post VSG
CurvyCakes replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree totally on eating carbs make me crave more carbs. I have been a carb sugar addict and to make matters worst I have insulin resistance due to my PCOS. Lo carb moves the scale for me but I find it very difficult to live like that over an extended period of time. I have done well this far making good choices moving more and living a healthy lifestyle but sometimes I sit and think can I trust myself not to revert back to my poor habits?? Most days I feel I've come to far to turn back but of course all this became possible by limiting my carbs severely. When I heard carbs was allowed I was so excited but then it hit me like a ton of bricks will that be the beginning of undoing all I've worked so hard for. Usually when I start adding the carbs back all I've lost returns with even more than where I've started. I guess my biggest reason for posting was hoping to hear how others r doing after WLS that consume carbs. I would love to be able to consume complex carbs and not wreck havoc on myself but the million dollar question is is that possible? Until the NUT said carbs r ok I honestly thought I was sentenced to lo carb hell forever. -

Yeah that's the order we were advised to consume our food in as well. Have u had very few carbs because ur already full by the time u get to the carbs or do u just avoid them on ur own?? -

Yes she told us that as well protein first then veggies and carbs last but I was really surprised I could consume carbs had I known this earlier it would have saved me from the food funerals. -

Support from Spouse/Family
CurvyCakes replied to butterfly2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very true. Family can sometimes not get the full picture. While some r actually supportive others think they r being supportive by telling us what we don't need to do and the if u would just do these things then you will be just fine u don't need no surgery...that statement I swear I was thinking the next clown that says that to me I'm gonna slap the living dog crap out of them lol. If I didn't need the help of the sleeve and could do it all on my own then I wouldn't be morbidly obese doing this surgery dang it!!! Lmbo people r funny. I've made total peace with MYYYYY choice to have WLS and those who don't like oh well build a bridge and get over it. Seriously I started this journey totally focused on weight loss but I've learned so much about me so yes I definitely want to and need to lose weight but most of all I want to live FREE!! Free to do what I want, shop where I want, and engage in any activity I want without being limited because of my size or health condition caused by my being obese. This board totally rock and Im so happy we r all here for one another sharing this journey together. -
I am sooooo dreading the stinking pre-op diet. My plan is ALL liquid no light meal yikes my poor husband have to deal with his cranky wife and a cranky 22 year old daughter at the same time rotflmbo. I guess we could have been sleeved on a different day but nope we wanted to do it together. When's ur surgery? I love vitamin water zero and powerade zero so far it hasn't hindered my weight loss this far but I haven't been sleeved yet.

April 14th I Become A Sleever
CurvyCakes replied to CurvyCakes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey there I'm doing well! Went to my group nutrition class which was about lifestyle and diet before and after surgery. Was very informational appointment. I have to do a FULL liquid diet no 1 meal a day for me even though others have been allowed to by their surgeon but each surgeon can be different. On the sleeve vs bypass this is strictly my opinion whichever WLS u choose is a personal decision between u and ur surgeon based on ur unique situation. Bypass may be a better option for some but not everyone and this goes for the sleeve, bypass, band, switch, and any other WLS. In regards to weigh loss and the ability to gain it back if we don't work our tool weight gain is a great possibility. Now for me I'm not putting my body through holy hell to have this major surgery if I'm not willing to make the lifestyle changes. None of these interventions or surgeries are a magical fix they r tool that we have to actually use and work at to help us not only lose the weight but to also become healthier beings. Weight loss is a huge plus but we also have to focus on the wealth of other benefits we are getting not just the weight loss. I don't knock anyone choice of WLS I just suggest u do the research, know urself, be open with ur surgeon and pick the best surgical procedure for u. We r all in this together and here to support one another regardless of which procedure we decide to have. -

No date yet just the preliminaries. ..Dr after dr but happy everyone is in the same month. Yes ma'am and copay after copay but in the end it's allllll worth it. Anything worth having we gotta work for it or we won't truly appreciate it. Just think after jumping through all these hoops being on a constant emotional roller coaster and all that comes with having the surgery I couldn't imagine throwing all this hard work away by not doing what I'm supposed to post operatively. Hang in there and let us know when u get ur date. -
ready to drink protein drinks
CurvyCakes replied to ryany's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much sugar. I am a recovering sugar carb addict before going into recovery (6 month supervised diet) I would probably be licking my lips rubbing my hands together at the sound of 26grams of sugar lmbo.....just kidding but seriously that's a lot of sugar and I think you could find one u really like without that much sugar. Premier Protein, unjury & Chike r a few with a very low sugar content but r very tasty to me. Each person palate is different but u will find one that u like. Out of the 3 I mentioned even though I love the taste of Chike the best it has a higher carb count of I believe 9 grams of carb depending on the flavor. My Bariatrician viewed the nutritional values and said it's fine but ur plan could be different. Sending skinny vibes ur way and much success on ur WLS journey. -

I was required to do a thallium stress test and an echo. Pricey testing but to ensure my heart is ok for surgery I was ok with it. I can see where u would feel the way u do just know it better to have additional testing done verses not enough. It's ok just consider it be safer than sorry later. Best of luck to you. When is ur surgery scheduled? -
Best Tasting Protein Ever No After Taste
CurvyCakes posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Chike is absolutely amazing!! I ordered the sample sample variety pack and every single one I've tried this far is just absolutely amazing. It mixed super easy with plain Water shaken. I'm not an easy pleaser but I tell you Chike blew me away with it great taste. It called for 7 ounces of water but I added more water just to thin it out some as I enjoy my shakes thinner. Was discussing it with my Bariatrician today as I was concerned the carb count was higher than my usual Premier Protein. He pulled it right up on line viewed the nutritional values as well as the ingredient list and gave Chike thumbs up. www.ilikechike.com Calories 190 Carbs between 9-11 grams based on flavor Sugar 2-3 based on flavor Protein 28 grams -
