Initially I went on the WLS journey in support of my beautiful daughter. After a huge disappointment/denial with Aetna we switched carriers and on the band wagon I jumped. I had been trying to do get back to my normal weight for many years. I would lose 30-40 gain that back plus 10-20 more. I made the decision September last year announced to family thanksgiving having surgery April 14th.

"the one thing we all have in common is that we're all different"!!!! as you've read above, people have taken anywhere from a few days to a few weeks etc the doc that told you that people might have surgery on a friday, and work on monday is/can be true in many cases - people stayed home for awhile, (a week, whatever) not necessarily due to any "serious" complications many people are extremelllly tired, weak et al if they have the sick time - they will/can use it many people can afford financially/or sick leave to take off from work longer for me - i immediately continued my "job" i'm retired its good to rest, relax - take care of you!!!! then of course, their are some slackers/ goofballs that just don't want to work!!! you probably need/should tell your office (for their planning) about how long you will need to take off maybe say 2-3 weeks, and go back sooner/earlier if you are able to listen to your body don't overdue i've heard from informed sources that April 14th is the best day to have surgery good luck speedy recovery kathy Yes ma'am April 14th is the magical day lol....I can't wait and can't believe I will become a sleever that day.

My NUT shared that taking biotin and getting in ur protein can't hurt. That hair loss happens with weight loss and is mostly attributed to the rate at which we loss the weight. It seems rapid the weight loss has a correlation to hair loss.

I pray I will be able to get through this liquid diet like a champ. I am dreading it but I do understand it's something I must do. My daughter is 22 and being sleeved 2 hours before me I just hope she fares well too.

I love Crystal Light and infusing the water will definitely help.

Been an almond milk drinker for many years. My NUT said it's totally fine to continue drinking it pre or post op however she said she would prefer I use plain light soy milk since it has 8grams of protein. Almond milk has just a couple grams of protein. She said the almond milk is fine to drink towards my 64 ounces of liquid goal but the protein content isn't high enough to be used for protein source. When I questioned couldn't I just add protein powder to the almond milk that would make up for the deficit in protein in the almond milk but my NUT said not so fast understand the body process protein from natural sources like milk, soy, lean meats ect far better than the protein we get from the protein supplements like protein shakes.

Starting liquid diet Monday. Omg I can't believe April 14th my surgery day is only 15 days away. I need to purchase some crystal light and sf Popsicles. Anyone else starting Monday? If so how r u feeling right now? I'm feeling like OOOOOOMG! This is really happening.

Amen to that! We had to switch to my hubby plan because my company choose to exclude ANY weight loss surgery irregardless of comorbidities or BMI. Thank goodness the option was there under my husband plan. If it wasn't we were considering self pay at least for our daughter.

Each surgeon requirements r different what mines allow urs may not. Check with ur surgeon office or NUT what ur pre-op diet will consist of

That really pisses me off when people say crap like "ur not that big" sorry to be rude but shut up nobody asked u if we were or r that big! Most times it's a person not struggling with their weight that says it. My sister said that to me as well as "if u would just not eat out u can lose this weight" I said I don't count how many glasses of wine u consume daily I'd appreciate it if I'd do the same when it comes to what I do I got this! I know she means well but at the same time unless I solicit ur comments if u have nothing supportive to say ZIP IT!

Do u know if egg drop contains pork or is it made with all chicken stock? I don't think I can have it on pre-op diet until I strain the little egg floaters out.

Congrats and I can only imagine. My day is April 14th and I'm hoping I don't totally freak out from being so excited but nervous. Lol

Yayyyyyyyy!!! Congrats. Don't u feel like u just won the lottery. When I received my approval things felt real REAL at that moment lol.
