I have been on another WLS forum and I posted about how much I exercise. I go the gym 6 days a week. If I use the treadmill I walk for 30 to 60 minutes at a fairly good pace to get my heart rate up. Basically power walking. If I use the bike I generally ride about 10 miles in about 50 minutes. I do have some resistance on the bike. I know that I am just over a month out of surgery and the surgeon said to exercise 5 days a week for 30 to 60 minutes. Some days I can do an hour on the treadmill, some days I just do a half hour. Anyway, some of the people on the other forum attacked me today, saying I exercise to much and that I will not lose weight like I should because of the amount of exercise I get. They were even nice enough to tell me to seek psychiatric help because I have a transfer addiction to exercise. I know I should listen to only what my doctor says, but they really made feel like crap. Am I exercising to much? I just want some opinions. I'm not going to stop, for the first I my life I am able to be active and I love it. Somehow I managed to gain 8 pounds when I started soft foods, then I stalled for two weeks. I have lost about 12 pounds in the last 5 days. Unfortunately, my monthly friend has come and my weight loss has slowed, but I expect that. Anyway, thanks ahead of time for a opinions or replies.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I am just going to stick with him since he so good as managing my meds. -
I have been seeing the same psychiatrist for 6 years now. He doesn't take my insurance or Medicare. So I have been paying him cash for the last two years. 100 dollars for a 15 minute session. I don't want to change but affording him is getting out of hand. He did get me out of the psych eval for WLS. I seems we are more like friends then doctor and patient. He talks to me about his problems and I talk about mine. He has me on a great combo of medicine. He is very good at his job. I forgot to mention he is a child and adolescent psychiatrist. I am his oldest patient. When I was sent to him I was very sick and he saved my life. I just don't know if I should switch to a doctor that accepts my insurances. I feel obligated to him. Any advice?

Well, it kinda is his business where I buy my undies, considering I don't work and he has to buy them. I am disabled and I draw a social security check which doesn't make me rich. I'll just wait till they have another buy 2 get 2 free sale. That's how I acquired such a vast collection of bras. -

You have 90 days to return the ordered items. -
I am buying a bike as well. Test rode a bike on a 5 mile bike trail where I live after riding the bike at the gym for 10 miles. The real bicycle was way more fun and the intensity was great, it was an awesome workout.

He told me to buy them at Wal-Mart, nothing against Walmart's bras, but the last time I had one it wore out in two months. Maybe their quality has changed since I bought one 11 years ago. I have an Avia sports bra from Walmart and it's a pretty nice bra. I like the style. -

A bra exchange would be a great idea. I am going to have some more to give away soon. Seeing that I just tried on all my 44c bras and it's looking like I need a 42b. Bye bye boobies!!! Lol!! My hubby told me I am no longer allowed to buy these expensive bras until my weight stabilizes. I told him cheap bras are not comfy and besides one more size down and I can shop at Victoria's secret. He is not going to stop me I have an addiction. -
I dropped 4 pant sizes and my bra size went from 46c to 44b during my 2 week stall. I am also losing weight very slowly but inches are still falling off. I bought a size 20 sports bra that was tight last week, now it is noticeably looser. I guess I am trying to get the point across that you shouldn't let a stall get you down. I was very upset when I stalled, because I weigh myself every morning. I can't stay off the scale. Oh yeah, don't stop exercising if you are allowed to. Keep pushing forward.

Eating too much too soon?
jtickle replied to BobbieND's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought a digital kitchen scale and measure out 2 to 4 ounces of food. I somehow gained 8 pounds when I first started soft foods, I think it was water weight. I stalled for two weeks and then lost 12 pounds in 3 days. Lost 1 pound a day for 4 days then I ate about 100 grams of protein the other day, lost 4 pounds that day. I increased my protein shakes from 2 to 3 since I don't get no where near 80 grams of protein a day. Hoping it will jump start my weight loss. I also go to the gym 6 days a week for an hour. -

I have 7 of them that need a new home. -
can I or should I start experimenting with purred foods only 1 week post-op
jtickle replied to hamdevo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is a huge no no. The reason you are on the liquid diet is so your staple lines can heal. Rupturing a staple line can be fatal. You don't want to fill your pouch up at all. Stuff like yogurt and protein shakes etc... Run right thru you new pouch straight into your intestines. I got a huge a lecture about cheating from the surgeon at my preop appointment. There are reasons for certain diets at certain times. -
I am so excited, I have finally gone past the 50 pounds lost mark. I'm slowly moving forward with my weight loss. Slow is better than nothing!

I can have soft fruit as long as it is peeled, but I am only allowed to have it after protein has consumed and I have room.

I am going to the doctor next week to get my annual check up and to discuss a long term form of birth control. I am wondering if anyone on the forum uses Mirena and what they think of it. I am undecided between Mirena and nexplanon.

I want to thank everyone for your support. Knowing that I am headed in the right direction makes me feel better.

a pound is just a pound, right?
jtickle replied to HYCIERRA's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I don't keep track of calories, but I know the days I get less protein the smaller amount of weight I lose. The day before yesterday I got in close to a 100 grams of protein in. I also lost 4 pounds that day, usually I lose about a pound a day. I lost about 13 in total last week after my stall broke. I hope the scale keeps going down. -
Celebrate and bariatric advantage make excellent products. I have been using them since before surgery. They are not to expensive. I feel better knowing that I use something made bariatric patients. Piece of advice unless you really love red hots candy don't get the bariatric advantage cinnamon calcium chewable. They will burn your mouth the cinnamon is so strong.

OK Girls.. what the heck is the story
jtickle replied to intelirish's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My boobs are ugly now or at least I think so. My hubby doesn't seem to care. They were the first things to go when I started to lose weight. I was 46c now I am 42B or 44B depending on the brand of bra. This really make me mad since I have 10 perfectly fine bras that are 46c that I can not wear because the cup size is way to big and I got them at Lane Bryant so you know they were an investment. Planning on getting a breast lift with augmentation after my weight loss stabilizes. Still debating on the tummy tuck, just don't want both surgeries at once, but I know it will probably be cheaper to do it that way. Just thinking of the pain aspect. -
Is sleeping on your side safe within the first few days/weeks post op?
jtickle replied to MisPetunia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just used a pillow to support and protect my tummy. Felt good and dogs couldn't kick my stomach. -
I already know I am addicted to exercise. I love being active was never able to do this before. I am even buying a bicycle. I thought I would pop the tires, but I didn't. Lol! I was a little shaky on it but I quickly caught back on. As for sex, I am abstaining from it right now until I get some birth control. My hubby doesn't like but he will get over it.
