Can you still eat in restaurants?

@LouiseC .. you seem to take particular offense to what I've said ... why? Did it touch a nerve? I never called anyone specifically nuts like you said. I said the act of going through this surgery and then eating junk is nuts .. and it is. The act is nuts .. not the people. Geez. Any who. I passed my psych evaluation just the same as you so before you advise me to deal with my issues please take inventory of your own. Just because you are post-op and have lost some weight doesn't make you automatically right.

All I was saying is that it scares me to think that even after having this surgery we can eat wherever or whatever we want... when that is what got me fat in the first place. I dont know about anyone else but I'm a food addict .. and hearing this is like a crack addict hearing that someday they will be able to smoke crack again .. in moderation .. its scary and unsettling. But if anyone wants to take offense to what I said .. then fine. I guess this isn't a good place for discussion. We are expected to agree and ride the same band wagon I guess.

Can you still eat in restaurants?

Reading the posts here really frightens me. Is it not just a little nuts to have 90% of your stomach removed only to be eating at McDonald's again? I thought the sleeve would work similarly to the bypass in the sense that it would severely restrict the amount and types of foods that are consumable. To hear so many say you can eat wherever and whatever is scary and sad to me. If we could get away with eating wherever and whatever then we wouldn't be obese in the first place. I for one will not put myself through surgery only to repeat the same mistakes that got me here in the first place. The definition of insanity is to repeat the same action while expecting a different result each time ... and I am done being crazy. Ugh.
  4. If you could move it for me I would appreciate that very much! I access the forum via an app on my phone so I can't move it on my own. Thanks!
  5. Hi! I was just wondering if anyone else is from Fresno, .CA? I have lived here all of my life ... my surgeon is Dr. Higa @ ALSA. Anyone else have Dr. Higa?
  6. My surgery (VSG) is scheduled for January 20th. I am struggling with the same feelings! I have been overweight my entire life and have been failing diets since my preteen years. Now at 34 I am tired of being sick .. tired of diabetes .. tired of sleep apnea and tired of constant pain so I decided that it was time to do something about it. Even though I am 100% committed I am scared that I will go through this transition only to find myself worse off than before. BUT I also know that this is b.s. .. I just try to ignore my negative thoughts and remind myself of the truth. The WLS's we are approaching will be the tools we need to finally succeed. Hang in there!
  7. Thanks everyone for sharing! I appreciate the honesty. I am scheduled for January 20th and am starting to freak out. I worry about the obvious things like pain ... or death .. but I'm most worried about being a burden during recovery. For those that have been sleeved already ... did you need much help from others during recovery?

    Pre-op Weight Loss

    Thanks!
  10. The surgeon I am going with isn't requiring me to do a pre-op diet. My date is January 20th. He said if I gain my surgery will be cancelled. I am stressed because my weight fluctuates 2-3 lbs all the time no matter what. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what I can do to make sure I dont gain between now and then. I put myself on a protein shake diet similar to slim fast and am walking but still my weight fluctuates. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
  11. You look stunning! I am having my VSG on January 20th. Thank you for your post it gave me inspiration this morning!

  13. Hello Everyone! I am new to this site and will be having the VSG on January 20th! I am getting nervous and am scared. I am frightened of the physical pain and I am nervous to begin my new life. I am hoping this site will become a positive outlet for me where I can connect with others who have had a similar struggle to my own. I am looking forward to sharing my story and hearing all of yours!
