  1. I am so sorry I am just now seeing this. The coordinator has signs out pointing the way. I hope you found it, I had to skip bc hubby could not make it home to stay with kids and no one under 18 in meeting, and no u supervised children allowed in lobby, or I would have set them there with some entertainment. If we get back from colorado in time, I will come to the July meeting...

    Week 4: May 27-31st Sleevers

Start weight 189 Surgery weight 183 Current weight 166
  3. Before surgery I had a bm daily. Now it is every two to three days. Is this normal or should I be concerned?
  4. I don't know Nicholson but then there are a lot of great bariatric doctors in this area, I am sure he will do a great job! I see dr cribbins, he is partners with dr hamn.
  5. Awesome! I will see what I can arrange so I can make the meeting would love to meet you too!
  6. I also wanted to add that I think if you go to their websites they should have the meeting schedules posted. Who are you seeing? Good luck, you are going to do great I am sure
  7. Hi, I live in the plano/frisco area! I know that both Presbyterian plano and Baylor frisco have monthly support groups. I know Baylor frisco's next class is tues the 24 at six pm. I am going to try and make that one, would be my first meeting. But it depends on if hubby can be off work early enough yo take care of the kids
  8. Got my sleeve may 29 and i have been fine, no issues until tonight. I ate a few small mouthfuls of sugar free pudding and suddenly got this bad pain traveling up and down my esophagus it did not last for more than a few minutes but geez did it hurt. I don't understand why that happened when I have had the sf pudding before with no issues. Needless to say I don't want that to happen again but I am worried now. What if I have an obstruction? When I get to the solid food phase July 7, will my body be able to tolerate solids then? Anyone have this happen to them and have some advice for me? I was never nauseous and did not throw up, just that pain in my esophagus is all.

Ow! Serious pain for some reason

I made a point of taking smaller mouthfuls and slowing way down, and did just fine tonight thank you again!

    Dreaming

How funny you should say that! I had vivid dreams after surgery for about a week when I would realize I was eating all sorts of food I am not yet allowed, panic, then realize it was just a dream, and enjoy it lol

    Week 3: May 27-31st Sleevers

Start weight 189 Surgery weight 183 (sleeve date 5-29) Current weight 167.5 Doctor gave me ok to purée can chicken egg salad etc. what sort of recipes are u guys following for these purees? I see someone said egg salad is good, curious about what u mix it with. Oh and started back to work today, was not as bad as I feared, even being on call.
  13. Know this May sound strange to some, but I start back to work tomorrow after my medical leave, and I start an on call rotation at the same time (I do IT support). We are also in the midst of a support group reorg. And for some reason today I am extremely anxious about going back to work. There is no physical reason why I could not go back, just this anxiety. Is this weird, or have others gone through this? How do I talk myself down from these feelings?

Scared to go back to work

Thank you so much! I guess the best remedy is to just get that first day back over with... hopefully it should get easier after that... I just sat down and made a list of why I am so anxious. Putting it out on paper really helped me see what my specific worries were, as well as some benefits- like being busy will make the days go by faster and get closer to both vacation time and starting solid foods
  15. I am on PPIs, have been for a long time. And my sleeve talks to me and people around me. I named her Gurgulina. It does not hurt, just feels sometimes like i have to burp but cant. I take her "chatter" as a sign to slow down a little more

    Week 3: May 27-31st Sleevers

As of today, I am twenty pounds lighter, and in the 160s for the first time in almost ten years. I am 4'11 (or five feet zero depending on who is measuring me). I still have apnea even though I lost weight and went through the utter hell of apnea surgery about four years ago. Still taking reflux meds, but I get this weird gurgle feeling up and down my esophagus after eating- like I need to burp but can't. I am on full liquids until July 7 when I am allowed solids (was sleeved May 29), but that includes purees yogurt and pudding at least so not too bad... Head hunger is the worst, my family eats regular food and I smell it and want it, so I have to go into another room until they are done no pain but I have been so tired. I start back to work Monday and go right on call, so I hope I have more energy by then! I really love this thread, seeing that issues I have are normal is comforting. It is interesting though how different we all are as far as post op diets are concerned. This is a very kind and supportive group so glad I found u guys!

    Week 2: May 27-31st Sleevers

Well here are my stats as of this am: Start weight was 189 ( that is as I was doing my preop diet) May 29 surgery weight was 183 Weight today is 171 NSV I can now wear my engagement and claddaugh rings hubby gave me when we were married 17 and a half years ago. I am fitting into smaller clothes in my closet. Challenges: it is tough when my family is eating all these tempting smelling things around me. But I have not given in and I will not give in bc I know this is head hunger, plus I am scared to pieces of leaks! I am basically having my protein shakes water and sf Popsicles during the day. I have tried stuff a little more "substantial" like puréed beans sf pudding and low carb yogurt, but gurgulina (my sleeves name) sings and complains for quote a while afterward so I get scared I am pushing it too soon.
  18. I was sleeved May 29. My nut gives us three food phases, phase one clear liquids (which I did) phase two full liquids (until July 7), and phase three regular solid foods. My phase two list is sooo short. It states 40 grams of protein via supplement shakes, plus watery oatmeal grits and cream of wheat. I am also allowed low fat strained cream soups, low sodium broth, low fat milk, fruit juice, coffee, tea, light/low carb yogurt, sf Popsicles, NSA applesauce, sf pudding, sf jello. When I saw my doctor for post op one, he told me I could purée fruit or veggies into my shakes, and even purée ff refried or other beans. I am reading on other threads of folks at my stage (and who have had surgery on the same day) who are mixing stuff like healthy tuna chicken or egg salad and pureeing it to eat. Is this something that is allowed normally? I am just ultra paranoid of leaks or blockages... Thanks for your help
  19. Funny you should say that I got my sleeve on the 29th and I am starting to have hunger pangs too... Gurgulina (what I named my new stomach) is being a bit of a diva about things- she thinks she is ready for something a little thicker and more substantial than my thin protein shots (two oz per hour). I just try to ignore her griping and push on.

    Week 2: May 27-31st Sleevers

Please add me in too? I had my sleeve done May 29, and now I am in full liquids stage. Doing good so far, still tired but little pain other than where my drain used to be. Counting my two week pre-op diet, I started at 189 and now I am down to 175.5.
  21. So I am now at the stage where my NUT says I am on full liquids, including protein supplements, and I am to take in 2oz every hour. I was told that in between those times I could sip water all day to help my fluid intake. But what I am unclear of is if that means plain water only, or if I can have crystal lite/mio, decaf herbal tea, something non caloric like that to sip on throughout the day? Thanks!

    Wearing cpap after surgery?

Thanks guys. I started using mine at night again and I sleep soooo much better.

    Wearing cpap after surgery?

Yeah I don't understand why the hospital did not have me wear it, I was even wearing an OSA band. I think someone at doctor office had told me they did not want me swallowing air and upsetting my new sleeve. I actually DO want to wear it, I sleep better when I do.
  24. So I got my sleeve Thursday and came home today. Not a whole lot of pain but my face has been flushed red and itchy since Friday when I was still in hospital. Nurse told me it could be meds, I was on morphine. Now I am home and the facial heat is awful. Any ideas on how to relieve this?
  25. tiredtwinmommy

    Facial flushing

That sounds like a good idea to me too. They sent me home w hydra codeine but I don't think the pain is too bad to warrant that, so maybe Tylenol. Of course there could be residual pain meds in my system from earlier, so I might be singing a different tune tonight.
