Thank you- I am on meds and have a doctor. I haven’t really talked about it, because I’ve been in a bit of denial. Frankly, admitting I can’t get this under control is really scary. I get now why they did psych. Evaluations before surgery. The cross addiction is real.

Hi- I just got back on this sight after 4 years because my alcohol issue has taken over. I’ve gained back half the weight in past two years. Granted, my children’s father left, my dad died, and best friend died, plus a shoulder and two knee surgeries. Basically, life has gotten really hard and my drinking ratcheted up then started to change. I’m looking for answers and help. I wasn’t like this before surgery.

Great progress, SJ! I'm going to get on the pictures, too.

Oh- and my boobs are really deflating; kind of getting that pancake look. Freaking me out!

Thanks, April.. Good to know, I'm on psych meds, too, and wasn't aware of this. Another question for everyone- do you find your restriction is the same or does it feel like you can eat more as the weeks go by.? I feel like I can; worried about old habits creeping in.

Hi Everyone- Boy, I've really been gone longer than I thought! Had a heavy workload past few weeks and lots of kiddo activities to chauffeur. Well, I'm late to the stats, but here goes. Pre- Surgery weight - 272 Surgery day( 2/11) - 269 Today (9 weeks out) - 235 Moving slow and a bit discouraging since I'm in a second stall for two weeks. But, honestly, I've not been as good with Protein and Water intake being so busy. I've also eaten more carbs, although I'm getting about 800 calories a day. Want to recommit to following rules more closely and hopefully push through this wall. April, I'm curious; you mentioned the release of fat also releasing hormones. Did you read that? If so where? I'm wanting to understand better what is happening to my body. Still trying to get use to it changing and not having a real idea of how I look vs. how I feel inside. Disorienting. For a of you still in pain and discomfort, it does get better each week. You get more used to how your stomach works. I still struggle with eating to fast, then after three bites feel full and everyone else around me is just getting started. But, I wouldn't change this decision for anything. I really believe it was necessary for me and I'll put up with the new issues for the weight loss, because they really are easier to deal with.

Hi Guys- Checking in- been sick with a cold this week after a stomach bug the week before. Feeling ragged and weak, but hoping to rally today. I second the book, The Emotional First Aid Kit. Has helped me get my perspective right during the tough times these past few months.

Hi Nadine- don't get discouraged. Everyone responds differently; but you are losing. It will go down at different rates over time. With a low BMI it might go a little slower than others you see online. Just keep shooting for your protein and water goal; you'll get there eventually.

I'm down 20 since Feb. 11 and 13 before surgery. I guess a slower weight loss compared to some, but I really notice the difference and so do others. I know we will all get there eventually. After six weeks, I still feel huge bouts of fatigue. Anyone else still have this going on?

Hallelujah! The stall has broken! 3 pound drop today after 8 days of zilch. There is hope!

I am 6 weeks post surgery and have been stalled with my weight loss over a week. I'm hearing the same news from many of my February Sleeve buddies. So frustrating! Any vets out there have stories or words of encouragement related to weight loss stalls?
-
That they are! Even though the scale hasn't moved lately, I still feel so much better than a month ago! Thanks for sharing.
-
Wow- when I started this process, I had no idea your body could stall that long on so few calories.!
-
Hi all- I am also in the dreaded stall. Been a week at the same weight. I just keep telling myself that it will move eventually; no way we can eat this little and it not drop, right?? I am 6 weeks out and find the further away I get from surgery date, the less vigilant I am about following the rules perfectly. These boards and home groups and buddies are important to keep each other connected to the process.

Thanks, SKennedy. I have been in a week long stall and really discouraged. Will focus on the big picture.

I do get very tired but is starting to be better now, I had the surgery 2/11 and just came back to work last week. Last friday I was exhausted!!I guess the fatigue lasts a while. If the napping helps with the weight loss , I'm all about it!

Hi All- I'm from NOLA! In my 5th week post surgery and doing well. Still figuring it all out. Big change, but glad I did it. Not sure about tummy tuck docs- I'll probably need that down the road. How's everyone adjusting??
-
Going to try the app- thanks. I still want to eat like a truck driver- shovel it in. Then I get that stuck feeling in my throat and even nausea. I'll totally forget, then when I realize I'm full, have to sit and watch everyone else eat for a while. As far as weight loss- I dropped about 7 pounds last week while out of town. I stalled the week before. Now, I'm stalling again; think body really does have to catch up with itself. Is anyone else feeling crazy tired during the day? I hope that ends eventually. Is it the healing process or just lack of calories?

Hi Everyone!! Checking in. I've been on vacation with my kids and thought I'd share where I am at 4 weeks out. First the positives- down 30 since 1st pre- op meeting ( late January) and 27 since surgery. Clothes are starting to get baggy. My 9 year old said "you look hot, Mom" unexpectedly as we were going out for dinner. Sweet girl! I'm doing well with eating, but ordering out has been challenging. I use to consume a large quantity of food, back in the day, so I ordered two appetizers ( with my old brain) thinking that was so little food. When we started eating, I got 3 bites in and realized I couldn't finish half of the 1st app. So, being done, I sat there watching everyone else eat for the next hour. Gonna have to work on that. Honestly, the mental struggles are not as bad as I expected, because I'm starting to see results. I don't mind the challenges, (heartburn, small bites, loads of liquid, etc.) because they are no match for the exhaustion, both mental and physical, of carrying all that weight and really believing I was powerless against it. I can hardly believe when the scale keeps going down, because I haven't dropped 30 pounds in well over a decade. Just really glad I did this. I just started reading "The Emotional First-Aid Kit" for folks that have had bariatric surgery. It really gives an honest outlook of what we can expect ahead. Also, to get down that pesky protein I've been drinking Isopure protein drink. It's a clear liquid that comes in a bottle, different flavors, too. It has 40 grams per bottle and much easier to get down ( although it's not super tasty), than several shakes. Anyhoo, y'all are all in my thoughts.

That's exciting!!! Have fun at Disney. I'm taking my girls there in June. Let's keep in touch.

I am on soft foods now. You kind of learn how much you can handle pretty quick. Your body has a definite signal, like a catch in your chest, that says you can't eat another bite. I can get about six regular bites, more if you take little tiny ones. Doing great, but kind of overdid last two days taking kids to parades and going out to lunch with friends. Overall, really happy I did this. How are you today??
-
Hi All- Day 17 and I overdid it. Granted its Mardi Gras and I live in New Orleans. Spent two nights out with kids and friends at parades. Then lunches with girlfriends in day ( where I have like 4 bites of soup and watch everybody eat). Anyhoo, kind of quit paying attention as much to water intake and mac protein intake; feeling really ragged out and sore. Refocusing on myself today and keeping good track. When things get hectic it's easy to focus on everything else except yourself. Hope everyone's ok today.

Glitter- past few days I have started to get a little clearer feeling of full after starting purée food. Feeling the shift.

Hi Cowgirl Jane! I am cleared to walk and do a little cardio.; no lifting. I just walked on the treadmill and it went fine. Thanks for the info. about the tummy producing same amount of acid as before. Makes sense. Will be more patient with learning how my new sleeve works.

Hi KajunGumbo! That's great! I'm 15 days post op and have lost 15 pounds; 22 since pre- op meeting. I think I had a real easy time compared to some folks. Really glad I did it. Message me anytime!
