Best of luck, Pachary!

Cookiec- I know what you mean. Been eating way too much of my trigger foods; feel like I'm going to Mars and everything will be unrecognizable. Excited for the changes to come, but fearful of losing the food crutch.

This is Starting to Feel Real-PreSurgery Jitters?
MizNola replied to TheWigster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all- I meet with Dr. Lavin this Thursday to go over everything and sign consent forms. Yowza! Because I'm paying out of pocket the scheduler said I could probably get a date by mid- February!' I find I'm mentally shifting for this enormous change; preparing for my break up with food. I go from elated to sad to afraid in a continuous cycle. I search the net looking for confirmation that I'm doing the right thing. I do know for sure that I'm ready to get this monkey off my back and this seems like the best option after years of yo yo dieting with little success . So glad I have this forum for support. Thanks. -
I just got mine for the 23rd. I'll let you know how it goes. I feel the same as you!

This is Starting to Feel Real-PreSurgery Jitters?
MizNola replied to TheWigster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Tamik78- Congrats on getting your date! What really hit home for me on realizing my need for this surgery was during the initial questionnaire at my first consultation. They ask your weight and dieting history, then what was the most you've ever lost at one time. I had to think a bit, then realized it was just 30 pounds in 1988! I was floored because I thought I had done more than that. I've also spent two decades dieting and gaining that it seemed I'd lost more than 30. It dawned on me then that the odds of dropping 120 pounds and keeping it off were very low. I'm very active but I definitely have emotional issues with food. No amount of exercise has ever fixed that. I hope to get scheduled in Feb. -
Mrs. Vanderbilt- Hope to see Dr. Lavin in the next week or so. Will keep you updated.

Lovin' Lavin In Louisiana - Patient's Of Dr. Tom Lavin, Unite!

Hi All- I am in the pre-op gathering stage with Dr. Lavin. Have not actually met with him yet, but hope to soon. They recommended the sleeve for me and I am still mentally adjusting to the idea, thinking I would ask for lap band. Anyone who's had either of these, please share if you are happy with your choice. Looking for information and support. Thanks. -
This is Starting to Feel Real-PreSurgery Jitters?

I can relate to the obsessive sleepless nights. I confided in two close friends that believe more in holistic approaches. Both reacted negatively and indicated there were other less extreme measures I could take. Also mentioned it Wouldn't fix the problem, emotional eating. Ugh! I think I'm really ready and then someone's doubt can pull me right out of it. Anyone experience this? -

Hi- I'm also in pre-op stage and trying to mentally prepare for the changes to come. Hope to meet with my doctor in the next few weeks. Some mornings I wake up and freak out at the extreme ness of this decision. But, I've really come to believe I need this help. Hope to hear from you all often. -
I must add that I am excited for the change and results to come that I've been struggling to Get for two decades. They say some years are questions and other years are answers. Planning for 2014 to be an answer!

Thanks for the encouragement. I feel like I'm going through this mental shift to prepare. I'm preoccupied with eating things I won't have again (or at least for awhile). Also, preparing to give up my old identity. My sister had a bypass 13 years ago and had struggles with alcoholism soon after. Glad to say she's been recovered for sometime, but it brought up more challenges than she expected. I want to be prepared to handle my emotions when I can't eat them away.

Hi Everyone- I'm gathering my tests and info. To meet with Dr.Lavin at Surgical Specialists. I go from feeling sure and excited about this decision to thinking it's nuts to go through with it. I just know I have issues with food and need help. The idea of not being able to eat what I love is scary. Feel like I'm preparing for a break up. Any help on the mental process and what it's really like after surgery would be helpful. I know there is no going back.
