concert 16 days after surgery?
andreamy7 replied to kitten22996's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go to the concert, just be sure to scout out a place somewhere to sit in case you need to have a break. Also, if you let the venue know you recently had surgury they may possibly make an ada or medical seat available to you. Not all venues can or will do this, but go to will call before heading in and ask first. Sometimes the seating is good and you will be able to have a seat when you need to. Although the venue may need those areas for other guests. Doesn't hurt to ask however!! -
I never wore a binder at all, my Dr is awesome so.if.it.were.required.he.would have made me wear it.

Sleeping problems?!
andreamy7 replied to gastricsleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I slept ok not great right after surgery but I was also on hydrocodone that the dr gave me so getting.sleepy wasn't an issue. I am sure you dr can write you a script for some liquid ambian. Put a call in to the DR and let him know. You have to rest to heal. -
SHEER TERROR
andreamy7 replied to GotItDoneInHarlem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am curious, where did you get the compression shirt and do you feel it helps? If you plan for things to go well and you think it might head that way, can you go through the date without it? First off, congrats on getting your sexy back! Most likely you were sexy before too but if you do not sense it, other ppl cannot pick up on it. I would be careful about dating anyone who says "you should be fit active and go to the gym". I just would check their profile for any hints about their preferred body types. Also, enjoy who you are and date like they need to impress you too. They may be just as nervous about impressing you. I like to think most men don't mind wiggle and enjoy a little jiggle on a woman. I have a fine man and he loves all my round soft edges. I think if it helps you find more confidence and if the garment gets seen-so what, its like a tight tank right? Once you are guys are into the throes of passion he is not gonna care what came off you. Make sure you can get out of it quickly and seamlessly for a sexy exit and not get stuck in it somehow. Then, note where it lands, make sure its not sitting on top of all your stuff for him to see first. Slyly take note that it should be placed somewhere under the pile of clothes....hehehe. Good luck on dating and enjoy the single girl feeling and feel good about how far you have come. -
Week 2 post op sample diet
andreamy7 replied to readytobehealthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was drinking a muscle milk light protein shake daily-still do. Also, cream of wheat or scrambled egg for breakfast. Lunch would be tomato soup with ricotta or cream based soup.... Dinner I have a problem with even still. Dinnertime rolls around and I swear my pouch shrinks, I just don't tolerate much at night so a well baked potato or roasted sweet potato with brown sugar and a bit of butter was/is heaven. Also chix broth at night works for me. I had a hard time getting enough protein but I lost pretty fast. Hang in there, it was a tough stage for me. Alsoapplesauce and sugar free pudding were good and mashed potatoes or potato soup pureed. Tomato sauce and ricotta mixed together. Grated parmesean went into everything during liquids cuz it adds flavor. Yogurt. -
I struggle with this as well. I try to count or play games, like if a show is on in the bacgeound I won't eat next bite.until a certain actor speaks. Or, I will ask my dining companion a question and not take a bite until they are finished answering. I aldo sometimes wait until the scene is over or they switch the subject...silly, but I eat in front of the TV alot. I do alot better when less stressed as I am a fukl nlown stress eater.

I am also experiencing this where I just feel really dizzy even if I have eaten. I will try more vitamins, I think it's getting a good mix of protein and water. It has happened to me at work twice during the day. My job can be high stress at tikes so I think my work also adds to it. Good luck, I will let you know if I find anythibg that helps it.

Does your spouse know how much you weigh?
andreamy7 replied to Ree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My boyfriend and I have been living together for 3 years I'd guess. He is a big strapping guy at 6'3" and around 240 lbs. He likes his women thick/chubby so he enjoys me at a larger size and days 'You're shrinking' I worry a little cuz I know he hasn't been with a girl less than a size 12/14 and that's his pref is big girls. I would be perfectly happy as a size 12 though! Right now I am about a 16 or a small size 18. I am only 3 months out so there.is more . to lose. He says he loves me when I ask him if I am getting too small. He is awesome. -
I am a shameful human being doomed to fail
andreamy7 replied to KittyChick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like muscle milk light chocolate flavor. I keep them in the fridge and then sip on them. Curbs head hunger and provides 20 grams of protein. Gotta do the shakes so find one you like and can tolerate. Pre made is for some reason less chalky than the powder. You can eat a corn tortilla with a little chz and guac-that is not bad for you at all. I put a little bit of refried beans with cheese and salsa and toast it in.the toaster oven sometimes I add chicken too. Super yum for lunch and cheese is light kind but very filling. Stop eating pizza that is self sabotage. I sometimes do tuna but love scrambled eggs, some crackers with cheese and turkey. Hummus and a mini pita, I eat the light cheese sticks, cashews, beef jerky, yogurt with a little granola in it, fruit...all that good stuff. Go for it. You can do this! -
I ate a solid too early...need ideas to be prepared. Please help...
andreamy7 replied to MN_Thin0211's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
During liquid and soft I was really stuck too. Here are some things I ate that I liked... -Applesauce. Goes down easy and a sweet snack also. -Muscle milk light chocolate flavor. Love them as a protien pick up. -frozen vreamed spinach-just heat in the miscrowave and bam dinner -roasted sweet potatoes. Put in a baking dish sliced up sprinkle salt and some brown sugar bake for an hr on like 400. Yummy and easy on the tummy. -roasted tom and red pepper Soup. Heat add tablespoon of ricotta cheese. Stir in. -coco shake-Coconut Water, 1 ripe bannana, nonfat greek yogurt, Protein powder, crushed pineapple. Blend with some ice. Best and fav smoothie. -polenta with tomato sauce. Trader joes polenta heated add some marina to the top, good dinner. -scramled eggs with light cheese and a bit of milk -soft boiled eggs chopped up with salt and pepper -look in the frozen section for pureed veggies like sweet pot or squash. Heat in microwave. -sip on crystal light peach mango tea -sip on hot tea I got.really bored too, it's just for a short term period that you have to do this. Just keep on going with it and know that it may seem like a long time, but it's not that long and you just have to find things to eat that you like and do not make you sick. - -
At a loss bout not losing.
andreamy7 replied to TTC2U's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be patient with yourself. This process takes time and we all stop losing at times or the losing slows. Your body does need to heal, your DR is right. Stop weighing yourself daily and weigh only weekly, I find if I am too driven by the number I overwhelm myself. I also find that if and when I stop losing I change the food routine a little. Like eat a high protein nonfat yogurt instead of drinking a shake. Try adding hot tea with lemon to your afternoon...just switch it up a little in terms of your intake. You just started, I lost 12 lbs in the first 3 weeks. I am 3 months post op and have lost about 40 lbs. That's about 3.5 lbs per wk as an avg. I am pushing myself to try and hit 4 and see if I can drop 16 lbs this next month. However, if I don't make that goal, I am happy for the rapid loss so far this is working for me. Keep it up, but don't be so hard oj yourself. -
Pre op weight-265 urrent weight-225 Goal by St Patricks-209 I will be better about drinking water and making sure I eat enough protein. I am only going to do frozen yogurt on weekends only as my little treat. I will start yoga once a week.

I would ask what hole are you trying to fill? I am a food addict for sure and was eating out of control since the age of 24 so I was 265 when I went to have surgery. I think I am right around 220 right now and am about 3 months post op. I don't keep a scale. The food addiction was strong for me and its what you describe as I eat and eat and filling a hole. Right. The tough part of this is that surgery breaks that cycle-you cannot eat like that anymore. Your body physically will not let you. So there is also a food deprivation feeling that never really goes away since you cannot eat seconds or even finish your firsts... I think you can talk to a dr about qualifying-I was not at a bmi of 40, which I was told was the qualifying rate, but I was at 38 but also had asthma and also elevated BP. Its come down and you might be able to make a case based on diabetes and the liver issue-those are very serious. Just make sure of a few things-go to a couple different surgeons, ask about out of pocket costs. Ask about any other fees-make sure to ask for a statement in writing and also ask your insurer about what is covered with each DR before deciding on a dr. Have a conversation with your family-you will need them to help you esp after surgery. Make sure you are well set, you will miss eating. You will miss and mentally crave certain foods. I felt like this was my withdrawal stage..like 3 weeks post op I would see a taqueria and I would be thinking about burritos for like days.... for real!!! Good luck and make sure.to ask questions and make sure you are ready.

Sleeve for 13 year old. Doctor recommendations Mexico
andreamy7 replied to slcmommy5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just know how hard surgery was for me at 39..how does it affect you at 13? Shouldn't she wait at least a few years before exploring this further? Seems very dangerous and I understand she is diabetic, so that is a very real concern to consider. I just think for me that she is so young...at age 14 my mom sent me to survival camp for a month and I was a little chubby and the camp had strict diet policy and the camp was very active. I grew 3 inches and lost about 25 lbs while there and was a normal weight from 14-24 years old. It was after 24 that my habits got worse and I started eating and drinking out of control. I just think if she is still growing there could be a chance she could lose on her own? Why not wait a couple years and see? -
Protein Shake Sickness
andreamy7 replied to LosingWeightLiz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is just the phase you are in. I felt the same way like IF I HAVE to drink one more of these....grrrr.....hahaha. I understand what you mean by the sweet. Here are some things I did to help this: Coco Shake....coconut water, nonfat greek yog, crushed pineapple, ripe banana, ice vanilla whey protein. Blend well. Its not as sweet, it is still a protein shake sorry. The other shake I like and still drink but only a couple days a week is Muscle milk light. It pretends to be choco milk and they are $30 a case at Costco. The other think I did to kill the sweety/sugar crap feeling was I would get fresh real natural lemonade and water it down and sip on it. Same with light cranberry or even regular cran. Just make sure its juice and not sugar water with grape juice which is what cheap stuff is full of. I wish you the best, you are in one of the hardest stages I think. Keep going, you will be able to eat much more variety in a few months. I have lost about 40 lbs and I am about 3 months post op. I hope to lose more by end of March. We will see!!! It is.worth it, it feels long but it goes pretty fast. Congrats on being on soft. I ate a lot of creamed spinach in that zone. Oh and I loved some polenta with marina and ricotta. Roasted sweet pot for dinner was like heaven. Good luck. -
I am at about 11 weeks post op and I can eat a small amount only though! Chicken noodle soup, half an english muffin, lasagna noodles. All that is Ok. I have a harder time with meats and of course I cannot eat near the amount of pasta I used to. However, egg noodles are good and light and I have eaten some of the multi grain pasta made a type of mac n chz and it was good. Cannot have more than a ramekin of pasta though. Good luck and take it easy. I was on liquid/mushy for like 3-4 weeks.

Sw 265 Cw 225 I think. Need to weigh. I might be down more that was last week. Put on a pair of pants today that used to fit like a glove. There is a full 2 inches of room around the entire pant-size 18. Just last week I bought 2 pairs of size 16 pants so I have pants for work. I am currently in all my 'skinny' pants. Love that! Can't wait until I cannot wear those anymore!! For your food challenge I would say get some hummus and pita-heat up the pita-I get mini pitas and then smear some hummus on top and sprinkle with feta. I also love to make a quesadilla- put a little olive oil in a pan place a small corn tortilla flat is the pan let it heat up, smear a little salsa on the tortilla then sprinkle with lowfat shredded cheese. Also, I love beef jerky as a snack and Peanut Butter with crackers. I have a hard time digesting meat so I eat a lot of yogurt too. Mix in a little granola or some seeds or fresh fruit to change it up a bit. I love string cheese-best bariatric snack ever. The other cheese I like is the laughing cows-one of those and some crackers is good. Also, make some tuna salad or egg salad with lite mayo, some green onions. Get some variety in or you will be bored of food!

I agree that I was pretty oblivious to anything going on in my tummy before. I am about 11 wks post op and can feel my stomach at times. If I eat too fast I get sick. I do actually sense hunger a little now...but I do occ get some pain in my tummy but cannot figure out why. Sometimes I try to eat too much or too fast. I def get pain from drinking too fast.

NHP by Masshealth & more questions
andreamy7 replied to KimberlyBranco7's topic in Insurance & Financing
Depends on the provider. The Dr will usually be able to tell you or just call the receptionist or billing at your Dr and see what they say is the norm with that type of coverage. You could also call your rep at the insurance company and ask what the general hold ups are. My insurer was trying to make me wait 6 months but I knew she could waive it so I tried to convince her myself why I needed it done. I was approved a week later. I think she must have really heard me. Good luck!!
