    Back to my life

There are several people on your Bariatric team that should be able to answer any questions you have. My team consists of my surgeon, a bariatric ANRP, batiatric dietitian , her assitant, bariatric MA, and the patient coordinator. I don't understand when you say you didn't have anyone to ask. Through this process they have been and still are very helpful and always there when you need them. Plus so many things were gone over automatically like the question you had. I'm sure there's more support out there for you if you check into it a little more. BP is a great source but somethings need to be answered by the professionals. Just suggesting that's all
  2. Much congratulations to you Jodie. I don't believe in luck, I believe in God. So I wish you many many blessings throughout both your surgery and your journey. I am 1 month out and have had some struggles but all in all it was the best decision of my life. You are in the right place for support. You are gonna do very well and be just fine. God bless you Jodie

    New Frozen Yogurt Find :):)

I understand. Different facilities have varying protocols. Which really just goes to show you that there are no such rules set in stone. Pretty much everyone you talk to has a different nutrition format to follow whether it be standard or individualized. Yours sounds really strict and that must be difficult. The dietitian's on my Bariatric team recommend 5 grams of fat and 14 grams of sugar or less per serving. I even find that hard sometimes and wouldn't want to have my grams any lower that's for sure. Hope you have been able to find foods that are satisfying within such small gram amounts. And I hope you won't have to wait a whole year to taste my "new yogurt find" Blessings To Ya
  4. For those of you who live more on the west side of the US where Safeway stores are or if your local stores in your area carry Lucerne brands, Lucerne low fat frozen yogurt is absolutely excellent!! I am not kidding. They only make a hand full of flavors but they are fabulous. And the price is so very affordable. I got some today on sale 2/$5.00 and the regular price is $2.99 for the large size which is 1.5 quart. It contains 0.5 grams of fat, 14 grams of sugar, and 4 grams of Protein per 1/2 cup...............WOW!! I couldn't wait to share this info I am currently enjoying the Black Cherry chocolate Chip and it is heavenly. I am 4 weeks post op as of today and so happy to have found this item I couldn't keep it to myself. Lucerne also makes a Chocolate & vanilla. I have emailed the company to see what other flavors Lucerne makes because sometimes not all stores will carry the entire line. I also requested coupons as well. I have uploaded a pic of the item........... ENJOY BARIATRIC PALS Vitamins Form.pdf

    March 2014 Surgery!

WOW!! So many thank you's went out. That is so kind and considerate. People initiate kind gestures because they want to not 'cause they have to. When you can't show any other form of gratitude a "thank you" is always the best etiquette. I never received a thank you for my well wishes and I even sent a hook up for free Bariatric Vitamins. I received a "like" instead. Oh well onto the next person who will be more appreciative........SMH a.k.a shake my head

    Body Fortress

I like it also. I found it on Walmart.com and it comes in a 3 or 5 container bundle. Great price! Called the company and asked for coupons so they sent me three $5.00 off coupons. I thought that was terrific. I like the cookies & cream but can only find that flavor on line. So far I have found 5 different flavors. Unlike a lot of powders out there Body Fortress does have 30 grams of protein and I haven't been able to find higher.

    March 2014 Surgery!

CONGRATS FROGGY, I am really happy for you. I am 4 weeks out today (well yesterday). Yes, my surgery was an experience and it is being quite the journey currently. One thing I will say is that I made many modifications at least 6 months ahead but nothing prepares you for this change until your stomach changes. I mean this in the most positive way. Yes I have had some struggles in just 4 weeks but I still made the best decision. I have a gift for you in an attachment below. Glad you liked my "new frozen yogurt find" Froggy, I have never believed in luck, and frankly I can't stand the word. Instead.............................. God's blessings upon you Froggy, Lisa Free Vitamins Form.pdf

    Weight gain

I didn't weigh until my two weeks post appt's w/ the dietician & nurse prac. They give you alotta fluids in the hosp so dont sweat it. I'm three weeks out I have lost 20lbs but everyone is different so keep that in mind. Personally I'm only going to be weighing once a month, I've never been one to pay alot of attention to the scale and plus for me frequent weighing is to much of a head trip. Not gonna put myself thru it. I would pay more attention to my nutrition than the scale. Hope this helps
  13. There is no such thing as luck. I guess its just something most believe believe to exist. Maybe it's just something we say in our society. I wonder where did it come from? Who started saying it and why? What does exist is God's mercy and favor because you have been blessed. I don'y understand how people get that mixed up and call it luck. Also another way to look at it is "opportunity meeting preparation, preparation meeting opportunity" So I will never wish you good luck, bad luck, or call you lucky when things falling in place. But what I will wish you are.....blessings! Because after all that what really happening, not luck. Blessings to all of you, Lisa

    African American RNY Sisters

Hey Sweets, Hey Sweets, My name is Lisa. I am 13 days post-op RNY and am doing exceptionally well. I want to congratulate you on your surgery date of 2-24. I was also over 400 lbs pre-op. Although I had satisfied my bariatric team by losing the 5% total body weight required, I set a personal goal to not be in the 400's on the the day of surgery. Let me tell you how good God is especially when we do our part. On the day of surgery Jan 10th 2014 I weighed 399.7 lbs, I was so happy I didn't know what to do. I have my very first post-op appointments with my Nurse Practitioner and Dietitian tomorrow Jan 23. I know I've lost weight the question is wonder how much? I want you to know that God is sho' nuff good. ALL THE TIME!! You are gonna come through this a champion. God wants that beautiful temple he gave you strong and healthy. When we do our part God provides the rest. I don't believe in luck but I do believe in blessings. So........... BLESSINGS TO YOU SWEETS, Lisa

    constipated help

Hello, Miralax is very, very safe to use. Anyone can take it. It is a white powder you can mix with Water and many other drinks. It's odorless and tasteless. Even very young children can take it. I have used it for many years. It's sold @ most stores like Walmart, Walgreen's ect. Check with your doctor first because I am not a medical professional. Your doctor can even write a prescription for it. Where I had my procedure done I was instructed to not go more than two days without a bowel movement and if so to use Miralax. I was sent home with a prescription just in case along with my other stuff. I really hope this helps you. God Bless! Lisa

    4 Days Out

Hey Girl, I'm glad to hear that you appreciated my help. I have received a lot of nutritional educational info from OHSU where I had my procedure done like I mentioned before. And programs/doctors/dietitian info does differ from one place to the next. Just try to get as much "correct" food info you can. All of us have to get through all the stages up to stage four which is the life long stage as you know and getting the right food knowledge is gonna be huge in our success. I'm still learning myself. We all are:) I'm so glad this website exist. I have met some great people and have learned a lot in the short period I have been on here. One of the members even downloaded a form from a company in which to get all your Vitamins for free and you can apply twice. I happen to have thought that was fantastic. Now that's support:) Talk with ya soon..... God Bless, Lisa

Oh yeah I forgot to mention the Campbell's creamed soups. The ones that are 98% FF. My guidelines are 5 grams of fat or less & 14 grams of sugar or less per serving. Right now those taste heavenly. I swear they do:) Try a few of these. Cream of chicken, chicken w/herbs, mushroom, celery, potato, and there are probably some others as well. I have also been able to tolerate tomato Soup. But no more that 4 oz on the soups. I really hope this info helps you. God Bless Again, Lisa

    4 Days Out

Hey Girl, Organic Peanut Butter. Its just ground up peanuts. Where I shop @ Winco Foods they have it reasonable in the bulk section. Lotsa Protein & no sugar. Carnation "sugar free" Instant Breakfast. Get the variety box which has vanilla, strawberry, malt chocolate and dark chocolate. Body Fortress whey Protein. It has 30 grams of protein per scoop. Type in the search box @ Walmart.com. You can purchase individual flavors, a 3 tub or 5 tub bundle. It is reasonable. And you can call the company and have coupns mailed to you. Also Instant or regular cream of wheat. They also come in flavors and meet the nutritional requirements for stage 2, 3, and 4. The Body Fortress whey protein powders are good and can be used with so many things. Make your own sugar free Jello and puddings. Sugar free Jello brand in the small boxes taste great. Make it with supermilk. Supermilk is 4 cups NF/Skim milk & one & 1/3 cups dry NF milk combined. These two combined bumps your milk protein up higher and can be added to lots of things like soups, puddings, jello, cream of wheat, cream of rice ect. The pre-made jello and pudding cups don't have the protein you need and are a waste of money compared to making your own with the supermilk recipe I gave you. I am 10 days post-op so I understand. Where I had my procedure done they are very good with nutritional education. I also did a lot of research prior and had purchased all my stage 2 groceries a couple of days before surgery. I really hope this helps. If you have any questions or do not understand anything message me. I don't mind helping you. God Bless, Lisa
