1 month out, how many calories?
kahlualouie posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one month out. I just added baked and canned fish to my menu. My calorie intake has been anywhere from 500-900 calories. I'm not sure what is or is not normal at this point. What have others experienced at this point? I'm also starting to experience head hunger, that makes me super nervous. Any pointers in that? -

. Why are you still on full liquids? Is that how your plan goes? When do you get to eat firmer food? -

I do get a binder with the guideline, but calories weren't mentioned. I was just curious as to what others were getting. I do use Fitness Pal. That's why I was wondering about the calories. -
5 days out PAIN help?
kahlualouie replied to eyoung's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would call your doctor and let him/ her know. I thought I was going to die on post op day 3, but by 5 felt soooo much better. Did you have any other surgery at that time? I had my hiatal hernia repaired at the same time and had a ton of pain with that ( as well as nausea and vomiting). I think you should definitely feel better by now. I'd check in with your surgeon. -
Good luck tomorrow. Please know that there will be some pain. Ok, maybe a bunch. Post op day 3 I was miserable, but it got so much better after that. Walk walk walk and use the incentive spirometer. Take it easy. I found that hit liquids were so much easier to drink vs room temperature. I am 3 weeks post op today. I am feeling pretty good, a bit tired over all. The even better news is since 12/22 i am down 31 lbs. I haven't seen 270 in a long time! Good luck tomorrow! I'll say some prayers for you!

Bananas & Cream Protein Shakes...now at Big Lots
kahlualouie replied to CarolinaCutie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A lot of the diarrhea is from the high protein diet. You could try mixing your protein powder with soy or almond milk. -

I am three weeks out on Monday. Still on liquids (including applesauce and yogurt). Some days I can eat a whole can of soup ( May take an hour) others I can eat only half. It's weird. -

Bananas & Cream Protein Shakes...now at Big Lots
kahlualouie replied to CarolinaCutie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Premier Protein. You can find it in the internet and the web site will tell you where you can find it. 30 grams of protein, low carb, low sugars and about 160 cal. I am very picky. I hate the protein shots and the the stuff they put me on pre op was horrible. The Premier Protein shakes have been he best, but I've not tried the Muscle Milk. -
Surgery 2 Days Ago
kahlualouie replied to Fourstarmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery about 2.5 weeks ago. Gas X greatly helped with the bubbly stomach. I still take it. I've also had to take two different PPI's. Post op day 3 I thought I was going to die. I was having extreme nausea and couldn't tolerate any cold or room temperature water. Everything had to be heated up and then I ended up on Reglan. So now, I'm almost 3 weeks. I feel quite a hot better and still on full liquids. My program added bananas, peanut butter, and applesauce this week. Previously, I've been doing the protein shakes, Greek yogurt, strained creamy soup, jello and pudding. Next week I get scramble eggs, potatoes , oatmeal, cream of wheat, cottage cheese. I cannot wait for Tuesday! It will gat better. I questioned myself in whether or not I did the right thing. Still do, but I think that is normal.
