yeah, it was not a pleasant experience by a long shot-glad I did it but he is gonna have to knock me out for a regular EGD next time >.>

My husband, mother and my bosses know about my surgery but I have kept it very quiet. I certainly am not ashamed of the surgery but I work with a bunch of doctors and nurses who, to be blunt, they act like high school girls and gossip incessantly LOL. My dad has some...shall we say, not-so-supportive opinions on WLS so I have omitted him from the "in crowd" To me, this is a very personal decision and one that I have not undertaken lightly. I do not feel the need to justify, debate or argue my position and decision and trust me, there are those I work with who would feel it their duty to question and judge my decision. It makes it an interesting situation that I am having the surgery at the hospital I work at, but I have taken measures to make sure I am listed as a confidential patient to minimize "running into" some of my collaborating physicians. By nature, I am a private person, I only today adjusted my ticker to list my weight, and I am actually more focused on the results than the surgery (well, maybe not totally focused on results with the surgery looming in the next 10 days LOL) itself Bless everyone on these boards who has had, is contemplating or is planning on this life-changing adventure-you guys have helped keep me sane!

pre-op anesthesia visit today, consents on Monday and surgery in...10 days. Wow. Having a devil of a time sleeping the night through this week-wake up at 3 am like an alarm clock! I think it is nerves but it is aggravating Messed up my pre-op diet a bit by having 3 shakes instead of 2 and a sensible meal-just misread the form. I started journaling a few months ago to try and figure out my relationship with food and it has been quite enlightening. Anyone else journal?

Wigster- Texas gal here as well! I have been using the Muscle Milk Light and it is pretty decent. Not sure about the other brands because I am also very picky about that stuff. Sending good vibes your way-the waiting makes the jitters stronger (at least for me). Good luck hun!

So I just joined the forum today after much lurking I have my appointment with the surgeon January 8th and I should secure a date for my surgery at that time. I have weird coverage where I just pay the surgeon's fee up front and the hospitalization is covered 100% (I work at the hospital). Planning on a mid-February date if possible. I originally was set on the RNY but after looking at mortality data, considering my BMI, I am actually strongly considering the SG. I have been moving this direction for at least 2 years now, and I feel this is the right time. I have come off carbonated drinks, stopped drinking with my meals (dear god that was hard!) and I tried to maintain my weight during the holidays (it helped I had to work through the holidays). I was curious how much time others took off from work post-op. I have a pretty physical job and my boss has been an angel, pretty much giving me, via FMLA, whatever time I need for recovery. I look forward to moving forward with this journey Thanks for taking the time to read my post!

Ok, sh!t just got real-I have a surgery date, surgeon is paid, FMLA is approved, and I am good to go with my new life on February 10th at 7:30 am! Hard to contain my excitement and I feel like I am just bouncing all over So may things to look forward to-I feel like I just got a ginormous "do-over" in life and I will not fk this one up...One day at a time, live in the moment and try not to forget to breathe! Saw my surgeon today and we are looking at February 10th. Met with the nutritionist and got the 2 week pre-op meal plan and I have an endoscopy next Friday the 17th. Dallas, TX Dr. Michael Lee.

Appointment with the surgeon this afternoon-I secured financing (YAY) and I will be setting a date (hopefully) for my surgery. It is starting to kind of feel real now. Wow. Weird to feel scared and excited at the same time.

My surgeon does TNE--transnasal endoscopy in the office. I am a bit nervous about this but I am willing to go through this for the surgery. And yes, it is just like a regular enoscopy but the scope is introduced through the nose and you are upright and awake...curious if anyone else has had this done?

I will discuss it with my surgeon on Wednesday but I am hoping he will agree to 4 weeks off-I do not have much down time and the docs will expect me to hit the ground running as they are short staffed and our patient census on our service alone is 120-140 patients in the hospital. Just thought of another question-what about swallowing pills? One of my meds is pretty decent size and I usually dont have trouble unless I take a small sip...kind of a weird thing to think about but it just popped into my head. Thank you for the warm welcome!
