  12. following my nutritionist's plan and I am 6 days post-op. She wants me getting 60 grams of Protein and 24 ounces of Fluid in daily and this is a mighty struggle. No matter how small a sip I take, I get this very sharp upper abdominal pain that will go away but ffs, it is annoying. I was only able to get in 1/3 an powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury shake and 1 pre-packaged muscle milk in yesterday with some Powerade zero and that was it. Using Gas-X strips and taking my nausea medicine but I am just checking with everyone what their experience has been the first week post-op. I feel like a big baby at times because I am so tired but I am trying to remind myself this is normal...thanks
  13. you guys are awesome-thank you! So far, no episodes today and I finally found a shake that doesnt upset my tummy, doesnt make me run to the toilet and it tastes fine. Walked 25 minutes today because the weather was just too beautiful...a good day <3
  14. ok now a different issue and one that is highly embarrassing....please understand I am not trying to be gross and this is the disclaimer to stop reading now if you don't want to get on the TMI bus but... Last night I had not 1 but 3 episodes of diarrhea-and I mean completely liquid-I could not control. Lost at least one nice pair of panties I loved, had to clean up a mess on the bathroom floor and was in tears showering to clean up 3 separate times. Understand, this has never happened to me before so I was quite shocked. No abdominal cramping, no warning what-so-ever. I was only able to get in 1.5 shakes yesterday and was pushing fluids but I had stopped taking my pro-biotics (cleared with my surgeon) 2 days ago because I felt they were upsetting my stomach...I plan on talking with my surgeon and will go see him earlier than next Monday if it continues but I have not seen anyone mention it before...there are so many new sensations with this procedure it is hard to really understand them completely until you actually go thought them...thanks for any insight.

    Time off after Sleeve

We have no "light duty" and I am a medical provider so I need to hit the ground running when I get back (our patient census runs around 150 general medicine patients) so I am taking 5-6 weeks off. I have the PTO/short-term disability and FMLA so I am taking advantage of it and my doc is cool with that.
  16. thanks for the reassurance-I am trying to go slow but I hate it when the drinks get room temp-think I will just pour out a small amount at a time and leave the rest in the fridge. No fevers and my incision sites look good. bless all of you helping me on this journey <hugs>
  17. finally home, 3 days post-op. Shower was amazing and I am so glad to be home!

yay..new life begins..and stay away from the scale while healing, your weight WILL fluctuate during this time...up 3 down 2. up 2, down 4..its ok

yeah, not too worried about it-doc said he purposely gave me tons of IV fluids to compensate until I could keep up orally-felt like a bloated toad for a while but feeling more "normal" today :) thanks for the support!

  18. off to the hospital this very early and cold morning--ready to git er done!

  19. I am starting to feel very scared about surgery on Monday. I find I am crying at the drop of a hat for no real reason (i.e. my coffee is cold) and I am not sleeping worth a damn. I know this is normal and my brain understands that but I can't help my heart and body understand that. I have done very well on my pre-op diet, have only lost 6 pounds but my nutritionist is happy and frankly, I am less concerned with the numbers than the actual direction. Regret or cold feet--no, just scared and tearful. I think another part of the equasion is I really am starting to grasp the changes my life will undergo after Monday and I just don't want to fail yet another attempt to get my weight down. Thanks for reading and good vibes and thoughts my way would be greatly appreciated. ~namaste

I know it is normal but...

feeling better this morning, still nervous but my immediate family support has been amazing. I think a large component is my feeling of lack of control-I am a medical provider so I am trusting other folks to care for me instead of doing it myself-being type A personality just adds a touch of flair to the neurosis ROFL! I am excited and I am ready for this. I have faith in myself to accomplish this and make it a new lifestyle that is both healthy and enjoyable. Thank you all for your support and kind words of encouragement-it means a lot coming from those who have "been there and done that" as well as those who are on the journey with me. Blessings to you all~

I know it is normal but...

RJ, thank you-your kind words felt almost like a hug I feel very fortunate I found this forum group and I will do some guided meditation tonight, so hopefully that will help as well. You guys are the best.

    Tasting Room - Protein Drinks

So far: Pure Protein--chocolate is...odd tasting with a weird lingering aftertaste-got a 4 pack and dumped the other 3 (23 g) EAS Myoplex light--thick, creamy, almost like fudge. Brief odd after-taste but will keep some in the refrigerator (20 g) 6 Star Pro Nutrition--vanilla, creamy, not overpowering in flavor, no aftertaste, thinner than Myoplex-waiting to try the chocolate (20 g) Lean Body on the Go--14 ish ounces so pretty big, decent taste, chocolate thinner consistency than Myoplex, lingering aftertaste (25 g protein) Muscle Milk reg single serving carton--chocolate tastes different than the powder mix, aftertaste present (not with powder), almost as thick as Myoplex. Decent, will keep some in the Fridge post-op (20 g) unjury powders---tried chocolate, strawberry and vanilla (bariatric sample pack)-this will be my "go to" drink, it was awesome, no aftertaste, great flavor, 20 grams Protein Muscle Milk light powder--chocolate ok but the Cake Batter flavor is TODIEFOR. Will be another "go to drink" to change things up. Sorry, but I have been on a mission to find what I will be able to tolerate for several weeks. I still plan on trying the Premiere Protein Drink that everyone raves about but the above is what I have tried thus far...

Weight loss on 2 week diet

Day 5/14 of my pre-op diet and I have lost 5 pounds. I will say, the two things that save me are SF Jello (have always liked it, even as a kid) and beef Jerky. The jerky is surprisingly low in calories compared to nutritional value (80 cal 11 grams of protein) and it makes me feel as if I am "eating" something. I am allowed 2 shakes, 1 "sensible" meal with protein/vegetables, no refined carbs and Snacks such as raw veggies, jerky, SF jello or Popsicle. I am encouraged the scale is going in the down direction and I have not placed undue stress on myself to lose "X" amount by surgery. Keep it up, your body will adjust and you may actually see a precipitous drop all at once (don't forget edema, or Water weight). ~namaste
