The ol' straw debate. Do you use one?
mikferr replied to Loristi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder if I'm having an issue with water because I'm not using a straw?? I was also told no straw because of air. But I seem to be swallowing a ton of air when I drink water and then it hurts. So I tend not to drink it now which is not good because I'm getting dehydrated. I barely get in 12 to 16 oz of water. So frustrating! -
Allergic to Nutrasweet, Splenda AND stevia

Oh dang! I didnt even notice that on the Premier or the Isopure. I just cant have the aspartame so that was my biggest focus. I can't wait until I can have pureed foods. This liquid b.s. is getting on my last nerve. Thanks for the different ways to do some pureed foods! -
Allergic to Nutrasweet, Splenda AND stevia

I have the same issue. I have found ice pops at Walgreen that have glycerin for the sugar. For protein, I went to GNC and found Isopure. The drink is 20oz and contains 40g of whey protein isolate. They also have a powder but haven't tried that because they didn't have the unflavored one in stock. Isopure does not have any of the sweeteners that we can't have. Also I've been drinking the Premier Protien shakes. They have 30g of protien and no aspartame nasty crap. Hope that helps! -
Percocet is my friend. :-) While I'm not in a lot of pain there is still some discomfort. I'm learning how to drink without a straw. They said the straw makes air go in to your tummy. I think they have that wrong. Every time I drink I catch air and it hurts. Blah! I'm up at night about every one to two hours. Hopefully I'll start sleeping longer so my husband will come bunk with me again. LOL Time to start counting my fluid and protien intake to see what I'm actually getting in. I'm down 8.5lbs since Monday. :-D. Keep up all the good work everyone!

I had mine on Monday. I dont seem to be having any complications. However I am shaking due to the lack of food. Hoping I can get more than 3oz of a protein shake down and get my water up to 40oz. That will really help getting to the 64 we are supposed to have. My biggest thing so far is the burping. It hurts and then can turn into hiccups. Blah! Congratulations to us all in taking this journey. Hang in there!

I'm also doing this on July 21st. My Dr is having me do the liquid for 3 days prior. Does anyone have idea on what to put in the chixken broth to make it taste better? I have no idea what to pack in my hospital bag. What is everyone else taking?

I found that shortly after I posted. The doctor I was recommended to has one comment from 2011. Makes me nervous...

I'm starting the process of researching doctors to help me with my weightloss journey. I was recommended to Dr. Tilquist in Denver but I can't find much info on him in terms of how patients feel about him, his staff, and the process with him. Has anyone had surgery with him? Does anyone have suggestions for other doctors in the Denver metro area? Thanks so much for any advice on this part of the process!
