how do you know when you are Full?
megpie replied to kappy1418's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know it sounds weird but when I'm full my mouth produces a lot more saliva than normal and that's when I know I'm done. If I eat anything more after that I would get sick for sure. Sometimes that doesn't happen so after a few bites I wait a few minutes. Also, a good tip I learned is if your ever hungry or feel hungry.... Take a few big gulps of water and wait a few minutes. If you still feel hunger you probably are hungry but if you don't feel anything you were probably just thirsty to begin with -

To anyone who is still pretty young, I would say do it as soon as you can. I am usually the one who pushes things off until last minute and I'm so glad I didn't wait to go forward with this. Every day counts!

I can't believe it's been 6 months since my surgery. SIX MONTHS!!! It's almost been 1 year since my gastric bypass information meeting. I can't believe how fast time flys. I am currently down 90 pounds since surgery, and 130 since I started losing weight. Some people ask me..."Would you do it again?" YES!!!! It was a very hard and challenging chapter in my life but the positives outweigh the negatives. I remember the first day I crossed my legs without feeling uncomfortable. I felt like a lady. I can fit in my bathtub and take a nice warm bubble bath!! I can run instead of walk my dog. My shoes just slide on!!! I am no longer considered plus size. I went from a size 20 to size 7. I'm not quite done yet! Before and after!

NO! That was happening to be when I was about 3 weeks post op. I think it happens to everyone! I'm actually down 70 since surgery which was in December!!! And down 120 since I started losing weight by myself:) one thing that helped me is not weighing myself everyday. Maybe once or twice a week. Put the scale down and focus on your portions and excersize. It's so much more fun when it's a surprise(:

100 pounds since December of 2012 lol but just stay focused and remember to don't do it for anyone except yourself.

I am finally down 100 pounds!!!! Only 40 more until I hit my final goal! My weight loss journey began in December of 2012, and I had surgery in December 2013. I still cannot believe how much life has changed. The only thing that bothers me a little is I feel like I lost apart of me? Like my jolliness isn't there anymore LOL! But nothing tastes better than skinny feels. I will be turning 21 in September, and I've heard a lot of horror stories about patients turning into alcoholics after surgery. Anyone have anything they can share about this? Also, I am running through jeans like no tomorrow. Any advice for clothing tips since they will only last for a short time before they are too big?
-
I'm glad your reaching out! I'm only a month post op and this is one decision I will never regret! The first few weeks were a challenge but it is such an amazing experience and you will truly learn how strong you are. Don't give up! Keep fighting Deb!

Just checking in! Hello everyone and I'm so excited to share that I'm down 30 pounds since my surgery! That's 70 pounds since my weight loss journey has started! I am finally on solid foods and though eating out is a challenge, nothing tastes better than fitting into my old jeans...some of them are even too big! Ok so I have a question.. I'm finding it difficult to see myself losing weight. I can feel it but when I look in the mirror I just don't see it which is rather odd. Anyone else have this problem? If so how did you cope and what did you do to see differently?

Ever since I started mushies (done in 2 days) I've been having really bad heart burn after I eat. Is this something I should call my doctor about or should I just take some tums and call it a day? It's not THAT painful just more annoying than anything.
-
Honest time! I cheated for two days in a row when I was only a week out! I stuffed my face with puff chips and they were GOOD. The guilt was worse than I imagined. But then the third day I woke up and reached for those chips and thought to myself "is this really worth it? Did I really just go through this whole thing just to stick to my old habits?" I threw the bag away and after about a week i didn't even want it anymore.

Where can I find unflavored protein? That's a wonderful idea!

Doc gave me the go to start my phase 3 mushies! I'm 2 week post op. Just wondering if any of you have any good recipes or good ideas for meals? I work on the weekdays so something I can make at home and bring to work! THANKS(:
